P.S. There are more new disquieting developments in the situation in the Middle East which we should keep in mind during our meditations to help alleviate and counterbalance the negative energy field of anger and despair with vibrations of love and hope so that Peace prevail in Israel and Palestine.

Here is a relevant quote:

"Agreeing to such a committee is a historic mistake because no one has the right, no one, to put Israel on trial before the world," Mr. Sharon said on Radio Israel shortly before he received the group at his office. He was seeing the committee "under protest," he said. Mr. Mitchell tried to allay Mr. Sharon's concerns. "We are not a tribunal," he said after a meeting with the Israeli president, Moshe Katsav. "We do not believe that anyone is on trial." Mr. Mitchell was not taken by surprise by the hostility of Israel's prime minister, who has been blamed by the Palestinian side as the cause of the violence, which erupted after Mr. Sharon paid a visit to areas outside ancient mosques in the Old City."

Here is also a relevant quote:

"U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the summit that Israel's ``collective punishment'' had fed Palestinian anger and despair and urged an early resumption of peace talks. In his toughest language yet on Israeli military and economic measures, the U.N. chief said the world had every right to criticize Israel for occupying Arab land and for its ''excessively harsh response'' to a Palestinian uprising." CLIP "At least 349 Palestinians, 67 Israelis and 13 Israeli Arabs have been killed in the violence." CLIP "Annan, attending his first Arab summit, urged Israel and the Palestinians to resume peace talks. ``There is no solution to be found in violence, and no sense in postponing the day when the parties return to the table,'' he said. ``Blockades and closures have paralyzed the Palestinian economy, isolated the West Bank and Gaza, and prevented the delivery of medicine, food and fuel. ``Collective punishment has cast a pall of anger and despair over the already tense occupied territories,'' he added. But he reminded the Arab leaders that the Jewish state had a right to exist in security within recognized borders. The gathering, the first ordinary Arab summit since the 1990-1991 Gulf crisis, has drawn 14 heads of state and Arafat."

Dear Jean !

There is a precious woman in Israel called Gila. She has dedicated her life to help people, Jews, Arabs and Palestinians, to all. And she is working 10-12 hours a day, deliver food and cloths with her small car to many places all over Israel. Her house is open to anyone in trouble 24 hours a day. She listens and she cares.

She gives and gives and gives, but she hardly can support herself. Any money she gets, she delivers it immediately to someone who needs it more than her (and there are many!).

I have never seen such a soul before. So much hard working. So much blessings.

Now at last, she got some help. I'm volunteering 3-4 times a week, and there are 2 young man and woman who really appreciate her work and poped from nowhere to help her last week.

The problem is she doesn't have the money to pay them, so I guess that soon they would have to find a job and leave. and they help her so much!

I'm asking for your help. She never asks for support from anyone, so I'm asking for her.

If there are dear souls who would like to help with donation to such a wonderful outstanding woman, it would be so blessed. There is so much more to say about her.. :)

With much joy,

Dear Neta

I'm so glad you are asking for help because it is only when one asks that help can then be channeled from those who are most willing and able to provide some assistance.

Please provide me/us all with a postal address where people can send a donation and which method they should use.

Love and blessings on your and Gila's wonderful service

Thank you so much Jean!
Many hearts will rejoice because of this blessed help!
Your letter made me so happy!! there is so much to do...

In answer to your question -
I checked and the best way is to transfer the donations to Gila's account:

The Name of the bank is: Bank Hapoalim (12)
The account number: 42571, branch 679
Name: Gila Cohen

Bank address:
Bank Hapoalim
45 Tchernihovsky st., Kfar Saba, Israel

NOTE FROM JEAN: If you are moved as I am by this plea for help, please consider whatever financial assistance, small of great, that you may be able to provide in support of Gila's dedication to helping those in need.

Hi brother,

It has been great having James Twyman in our midst, talking both publicly through radio and meetings and also in smaller groups with the gangsters and those affected by gangsterism.

James says he reckoned he knew what to expect, coming from a pretty rough community in the States himself, but what he finds here is ten times rougher! So the challenge for each of us to stay in a place of peace and compassion in our everyday lives needs all the support we can get. If you can make it to join us in the World Puja -- at -- this Saturday, please be there!

Love, and Peace

Dear Friends,

I am writing this letter from Cape Town where I have been for the last several days. I ask that you consider this information very carefully and pass it on to everyone you know. I believe that it is of critical importance, not only to the people of South Africa but to the whole world.

There are certain countries and places in this world that act as powerful meridian points, sending an active pulse of energy to everyone living on this planet today. South Africa, I believe, is one such place. South Africa gathers the karma of the whole world to either be released or recycled.

Until now those energies have moved from one dark expression to another, but I believe that is about to change. And as South Africa goes, so does the rest of the world.

Apartheid has ended, but the violence and racism that initiated this terrible condition continues still. It is impossible for most of us to even imagine what is happening here, for it is much easier to believe that the "problem has been solved." It hasn't. The monster has put on a different mask, but without true forgiveness and compassion it remains the same old monster. That is why I have called on all of you to help shift this cycle of violence to give birth to the peace that is South Africa's destiny.

On March 31 at noon New York time we are asking millions of people to spend ten minutes PRAYING PEACE with South Africa. (Please go to for more information or to find a location near you where people will gather in prayer.) Tens of thousands will join us live through beginning at 11:45am. On March 21, In order to initiate an energy grid to welcome these prayers, I will be gathering with over 50,000 people in one of Cape Town's largest sport's stadiums. Together we will FEEL WITHIN OUR HEARTS THAT PEACE IS ALREADY PRESENT IN SOUTH AFRICA.

The day before the vigil, March 30, a meeting has been scheduled between myself and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Together we will discus the role of prayer in bringing about this powerful shift, and I will also present him with a shawl from the Cloth of Many Colors. I ask that you keep us in your personal prayers on all three days.

I cannot overestimate how important these prayers are in activating a world based upon compassion and love. South Africa is a critical country in bringing about this shift, and so I ask that you join us for this important vigil. Dozens of stores around the US and around the world have offered to be hosts for this gathering, so I ask that you join them wherever possible. Most of all, know that peace does not come to us, but by us. It is up to you to create the Peaceful Kingdom, first in your own life, then let it radiate to the whole world.

May Peace Prevail on Earth,

James F. Twyman

Can you see the "forest" for all the trees? The issues (trees) that Jean so faithfully and effectively brings to our attention for action is only a beginning. We must change the SYSTEM of government in order to get to the solutions! So long as government remains in the hands of powerful moneyed interests through the "representative form" of government, there will be only escalating problems.

We must work to change the SYSTEM to one-person, one-vote, a Direct Democracy

This is what we're up against!

Trust Us, We're Experts: How Industry Manipulates Science and Gambles with Your Future

by Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber

"If you want to know how the world wags, and who's wagging it, here's your answer. Read, get mad, roll up your sleeves, and fight back. Rampton and Stauber have issued a wake-up call we can't ignore."

--Bill Moyers

We count on the experts. We count on them to tell us who to vote for, what to eat, how to raise our children. We watch them on TV, listen to them on the radio, read their opinions in magazine and newspaper articles and letters to the editor. We trust them to tell us what to think, because there's too much information out there and not enough hours in a day to sort it all out.

We should stop trusting them right this second.

In their new book, Trust Us, We're Experts: How Industry Manipulates Science and Gambles with Your Future, Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber offer a chilling exposÈ on the manufacturing of "independent experts." Public relations firms and corporations have seized upon a slick new way of getting you to buy what they have to sell: Let you hear it from a neutral "third party," like a professor or a pediatrician or a soccer mom or a watchdog group. The problem is, these third parties are usually anything but neutral. They have been handpicked, cultivated, and meticulously packaged to make you believe what they have to say--preferably in an "objective" format like a news show or a letter to the editor. And in some cases, they have been paid handsomely for their "opinions."

For example:

* You think that nonprofit organizations just give away their stamps of approval on products? Bristol-Myers Squibb paid $600,000 to the American Heart Association for the right to display AHA's name and logo in ads for its cholesterol-lowering drug Pravachol. Smith Kline Beecham paid the American Cancer Society $1 million for the right to use its logo in ads for Beecham's Nicoderm CQ and Nicorette anti-smoking ads.

* You think that you're witnessing a spontaneous public debate over a national issue? When the Justice Department began antitrust investigations of the Microsoft Corporation in 1998, Microsoft's public relations firm countered with a plan to plant pro-Microsoft articles, letters to the editor, and opinion pieces all across the nation, crafted by professional media handlers but meant to be perceived as off-the-cuff, heart-felt testimonials by "people out there."

* You think that a study out of a prestigious university is completely unbiased? In 1997, Georgetown University's Credit Research Center issued a study which concluded that many debtors are using bankruptcy as an excuse to wriggle out of their obligations to creditors. Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen cited the study in a Washington Times column and advocated for changes in federal law to make it harder for consumers to file for bankruptcy relief. What Bentsen failed to mention was that the Credit Research Center is funded in its entirety by credit card companies, banks, retailers, and others in the credit industry; that the study itself was produced with a $100,000 grant from Visa USA and MasterCard International Inc.; and that Bentsen himself had been hired to work as a credit-industry lobbyist.

* You think that all grassroots organizations are truly grassroots? In 1993, a group called Mothers Opposing Pollution (MOP) appeared, calling itself "the largest women's environmental group in Australia, with thousands of supporters across the country." Their cause: A campaign against plastic milk bottles. It turned out that the group's spokesperson, Alana Maloney, was in truth a woman named Janet Rundle, the business partner of a man who did P.R. for the Association of Liquidpaperboard Carton Manufacturers-the makers of paper milk cartons.

* You think that if a scientist says so, it must be true? In the early 1990s, tobacco companies secretly paid thirteen scientists a total of $156,000 to write a few letters to influential medical journals. One biostatistician received $10,000 for writing a single, eight-paragraph letter that was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. A cancer researcher received $20,137 for writing four letters and an opinion piece to the Lancet, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, and the Wall Street Journal. Nice work if you can get it, especially since the scientists didn't even have to write the letters themselves. Two tobacco-industry law firms were available to do the actual drafting and editing.

Rampton and Stauber reveal many more such examples of "perception management"--all of them orchestrated to make us buy or believe whatever the "independent expert" is pushing. They also explore the underlying assumptions about human psychology--e.g., "the public must be manipulated for its own good"--that make this kind of subliminal hard-sell possible.

Destined to be hated by P.R. firms and corporations everywhere, Trust Us, We're Experts is an eye-opening account of how these entities reshape our reality, manufacture our consent, get us to part with our money, even change our lives. A whole new spin on spin, it will forever alter the way we look at news, information, and the people who serve it up to us.

"Stauber and Rampton have once again exposed the ugly underbelly of corporate America's psychological war on our citizens. Trust Us, We're Experts shows how giant corporations employ sophisticated psychiatric techniques, unscrupulous public figures, junk science, tainted studies and clever PR mercenaries in a relentless effort to market products that routinely kill, maim, deform and poison consumers and our environment."

- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., President, Water Keeper Alliance

"Trust Us, We're Experts is a brilliant piece of investigative journalism and a powerful vaccine against the stupefying effects of the corporate PR machine. Spread it around!"

- Barbara Ehrenreich

"If you've ever wanted to see a TV spin doctor hog-tied and dragged through the streets, Rampton and Stauber do the next best thing. This book is modern muckraking of the best variety, skewering hype and showing us how to separate real experts from snake oil salesmen and hired corporate know-it-alls."

- Jim Hightower

"Finally, a long-overdue expose of the shenanigans and subterfuge that lie behind the making of experts in America. Stauber and Rampton take us behind the scenes, inside corporate boardrooms, where marketing chiefs literally manufacture their own 'independent experts' to defend their products and practices. This groundbreaking book gives us a first look into the seamy side of corporate public relations, where academic experts of every stripe and kind are bought in various ways. An eye-opener."

- Jeremy Rifkin

"The introduction into the environment of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) which can reproduce is a crime against humanity. Such an introduction can have unknown and unforeseeable consequences and can modify the planet’s natural genetic inheritance."

Report by PSRAST (Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Application of Science and Technology) on the risks posed by the GMOs

Source: Genet

All genetically engineered crops contain DNA with a genetic element that stimulates the immune system to start a sequence of reactions leading to inflammation. Exposure to these genetic elements may lead to promotion of inflammation, arthritis and lymphoma. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that ingested DNA sequences large enough to contain whole genes have remained intact and entered the blood and tissues. Therefore, the scientists conclude, the available evidence is sufficient to support a moratorium on the massive intake of GM crops by human populations until the genetic consequences are resolved in the laboratory.

Greenpeace claims Kellogg's product has StarLink.

Source: Genet

In a press conference recently held, Greenpeace genetic engineering specialist Charles Margulis told reporters that tests commissioned by the group on three of Kellogg's Morningstar Farms products revealed a gene-altered soy ingredient and the StarLink genetically modified corn. While it is not illegal to use genetically engineered soy, Kellogg had previously said that they were using non-genetically engineered soy in their Morningstar Farms, Worthington, Natural Touch and Loma Linda products since April 1, 2000. Greenpeace's testing was conducted by an Iowa lab. Greenpeace scientist urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to order a nationwide recall of Kellogg's product that contains StarLink corn.

The NGO Friends of the Earth has sent a letter to President Bush regarding the GMOs.

Source: Friends of the Earth, Europe.

The NGO Friends of the Earth has sent a letter to President Bush demanding that the US stops exporting StarLink maize (which is not authorized even in the US for human consumption) to third countries. In fact, although StarLink was found in the U.S. food supply on September 18th, 2000, Japan reports repeated findings of StarLink as recently as February 2001. This means that the U.S. government has not been able to assure that U.S. raw grain and processed foods are free from StarLink. Furthermore, the bacterial toxin engineered into StarLink corn is known to be deadly to Monarch butterflies and other beneficial insects. The toxin has also appeared without explanation in another variety of corn seed sold in the U.S. showing the threat of cross contamination that could threaten farmers in other countries. Friends of the Earth is also trying to get at least 100 NGOs to sign the letter up.

Three-fourths of Americans want to know if their food contains genetically engineered ingredients, according to a poll released yesterday by the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology. Fifty-eight percent of the respondents did not want such ingredients in the food supply, period. However, when they were told that the ingredients were already in many food products on grocery store shelves, nearly half of the respondents said the products must therefore be safe. Despite pressure from environmental and consumer groups, the U.S. has said it won't require labeling of genetically engineered foods. Labeling is already required in Japan, South Korea, Australia, and most of Europe., 27 Mar 2001

Take action against genetically engineered food

Environmental and labor groups are gearing up for a new battle over trade next month in Buenos Aires and Quebec City, where countries are meeting to discuss the Free Trade Area of the Americas. The pact, which would create a 34-nation trading bloc in the Western Hemisphere, is a priority for the Bush administration. The administration and Latin American governments think the pact could lead to big bucks for all countries involved, but they oppose including environmental and labor standards in the agreement. Environmentalists and labor supporters, however, fear a race-to-the-bottom, with multinationals settling in countries that have the lowest standards or no standards at all. They are planning Seattle-like protests in Buenos Aires and Quebec City, hoping to turn out tens of thousands of demonstrators.

Environment ENS -- Environment News Service

WASHINGTON, DC, March 27, 2001 (ENS) - U.S. Forest Service Chief Mike Dombeck announced his resignation today, citing differences in opinion with the Bush administration over the future of America's national forests.

Dombeck, who served for four years under the Clinton administration, was not required to leave his position until the end of April. But in a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, Dombeck said he will leave his job effective this Saturday.

Dombeck's environmental policies made him a favorite of environmentalists and a thorn in the side of the forestry and mining industries. During his tenure, the Forest Service was transformed from a promoter of public lands logging into something resembling a friend of forests.

In his resignation letter, Dombeck urged Veneman, who oversees the Forest Service, to maintain the agency's new conservationist direction.

Dombeck outlined 10 recommendations for the agency's future, urging that the Bush administration not seek to overturn one of the Forest Service's most controversial programs, protections for roadless areas of national forests. Though the agency had completed a two year review period and collected a record 1.6 million public comments on the proposal by the end of the Clinton administration, the Bush administration is now seeking ways to rewrite or discard the roadless rule.

Dombeck also recommended that the U.S. Forest Service finish inventorying old growth forest tracts as a first step toward protecting these dwindling areas, and boost funding for the agency's wilderness stewards.

"Forest Service Chief Mike Dombeck has been the gladiator of forest protection," said Brian Vincent, California organizer for the American Lands Alliance. "He took over the reigns of an outlaw, chainsaw brandishing agency, braved hostile congressional committees, did battle with the timber empire, and was willing to fall on his sword to save the forests."

Insight: They're Spying On Us

Our government spied on the Soviet Union for decades, but now that the cold war is over, they’re aiming their sights on us. The April 2001 issue of Popular Mechanics reveals that two powerful intelligence gathering tools the U.S. created to eavesdrop on the Soviets are now being used to monitor Americans. One system, known as Echelon, intercepts and analyzes our phone calls, faxes and e-mail, looking for “key” words.

The other system, Tempest, can secretly read the displays on personal computers, cash registers and automatic teller machines. Whitley Strieber was personally warned by a government agent 15 years ago that the data on his computer was being read in this way.

Subject: Re-mineralizing soil & using organics

Dear Jean:

Regarding the post about Re-Mineralizing the soil & organic healthy food production. A few resources for Australia were provided too. Worldwide, soils are depleted, unhealthy, diseased & poisoned.

I thought it was time to speak up. I have been silent on this forum because it may appear as a commercial. What can I do? Being totally drawn to healing the planet I am deeply involved in bringing knowledge and products to people who want to do organics at home or professionally. Organics de-toxify soil and promote health. I teach, manufacture and sell organic products (including Mineral Rock Dust) in the USA for both consumer and commercial horticulture & agriculture markets, as well as other organic growing & earth healing products.

With any encouragement I would contribute additional information on organics.

Ever have a child, either in the K-12 grades or away at college, complain of headaches, dizziness, muscle cramps, learning disabilities, trouble concentrating, irritability, nausea, vomiting, sore throats, rashes, eye pain, blisters, breathing problems, asthma attacks, low-grade fevers, or depression? Before you assume that they have the flu or see your doctor about attention deficit disorder, check the school's pesticide policy. The probability is high that you should consider pesticide exposure as one of the possible causes, since most schools, colleges, universities, and learning centers in the U.S. (and probably the world) are spraying pesticides in classrooms, locker rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and cafeterias.

I explore this troubling issue in this week's Healing Our World commentary, "Killing the Future - Pesticide Spraying in Our Children's Schools," on the Environment News Service, hosted on the LYCOS Network. You can view it at

The sore throat a child exhibits today could manifest as cancer or reproductive dysfunction in later life.

Yet our leaders seem quite uninterested in resolving this issue.

We are in the time of year when rebirth surrounds us in the Northern Hemisphere and when the harvest is upon those in the Southern Hemisphere. Participate in this powerful time by taking some action
about issues such as this. The extensive list of resources at the end of this week's commentary will help you get involved. We can no longer tolerate our children being harmed for the sake of greed and

Subject: A poem actually written by George W Bush

Our new president has taken some criticism for not having a poet set the tone at his inauguration. The absence of a poet, or the absence of the arts in general, speaks volumes about the president. But, as the Washington Post shared on Sunday, Dubya can be very poetic. In fact, the following is a poem composed entirely of actual quotes from George W. The quotes have been arranged for aesthetic reasons only by Post writer Richard Thompson.

I think we all agree,

the past is over.

This is still a dangerous world.

It's a world of madmen

And uncertainty

And potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked

Is our children learning?

Will the highways of

Become more few?

How many hands

Have I shaked?

They misunderestimate me.

I am a pitbull on the pantleg

I know that the human being

Can coexist.

Finds hope,

Where our wings take dream.
