Miscellaneous Subjects #61: Many More Feedbacks + GM bug 'could end all life' + India Earthquake Relief + Click a FREE donation to India Quake victims + A Partial List of Relief Organizations Helping Indian Quake Victims + CHOP SHOO-EY + E-Vote Project

Hello everyone

Since there are so many feedbacks - and other urgent stuff to network - here is *exceptionally* a 4th compilation for this very busy week.

Enjoy ;-)

In my reposting to my Worldwide Media list 2 days ago of the "Roads lead to Amazon destruction" article I appended the following comment:

Also for those of you who are concerned by the direction now taken by the Bush administration regarding the Executive Orders banning political assassination which are being lifted as mentioned in a recent compilation, you *must* review "Assassination to be Legalized by House Bill in process" posted at http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=19541

Here is how it begins...

"House Bill on floor currently reverses three anti-assassination executive orders - theoretically opening you and I, brothers and sisters, to legally sanctioned govermental murder without trial."

And yet another article from the UK confirming that Bush lost: "Florida 'recounts' make Gore winner"

Any such news reports in the US?

Dear Jean,

This is my first feedback to your postings, which I've read (often with
horror!) for some years. I want you to know that I consider the service you
provide to be of value beyond price in monetary terms. I often quote your
postings and frequently forward them on. I know of one author whose book on
alternative health would have been much less complete without the
information you provide and point us toward.

Please keep up your vital work!

AND MY REPLY WAS (in part): I'm glad I can be of such service to others in disseminating vital information that can help make a difference in other people's lives.

Subject: Recent mailings
Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001

My dear Jean,

I apologise for not having replied, recently, to your many postings concerning the American Election, HAARP, Mad Cow disease etc. etc. but I have been rather poorly, for well over three months in fact. I am pleased to say that I am just beginning to start the slow return to good health once again and I am therefore better able to respond on this occasion.

In answer to your heartfelt plea for some feedback about recent mailings, quite frankly most of the news has been so dreadful, and for such a long time, I imagine a lot of us are still in a state of perpetual shock and utter disbelief! I, for one, am still reeling from some of the horrendous information that has been emerging recently.

Living in the UK, I could not understand what on earth was happening in the Florida electoral debacle last November/December. Why did everyone appear to lie down under such obvious chicanery and jiggery-pokery at the polls? There would have been a frightful public outcry if such a situation had happened in this country, or in Europe, and the whole election would have been declared 'null and void'. If UK or European authority had been in charge the entire poll would have had to be run again, certainly in the state of Florida. We would not have put up with any of those different voting slips and systems either!

What appears even more alarming to us are the stories turning up here from various news agencies, which report there is evidence to suggest that certain sections of the Black and Jewish communities in Florida were deliberately disenfranchised during the last election! If this should prove to be the case surely it has to be a major body-blow for democracy everywhere?

I was astounded that not a single country in the entire world (as far as I am aware) put up a hand to say 'Just a minute, what is going on here?' If the Florida situation had happened in the third world, the UN would have declared the entire election invalid and sent in a peace-keeping force to ensure a free, and democratic electoral process took place! I don't know if the ordinary people of America realise (or even care?) what a devastating effect this last election has had on the general perception of the US in the rest of the world. It all smacks of that evil, nineteen-thirties 'master race' scenario, which seems to be rearing its ugly head again in some parts of the world, and this time it is in the heart of America! Just look at how history is repeating itself, with everyone pretending it is not really happening!

Folk in the UK are seriously concerned by events like these and we are waiting for the inevitable backlash that will surely follow when Bush turns his 'Fortress America' attitude towards US foreign policy. We can see just how much the US government cares about world pollution through their recent behaviour at the Hague conference. The HAARP scenario in Alaska too, is another indication of the ' We know what is best for the world' attitude stemming from secret American military establishments. Are we to believe that this sophisticated electro-magnetic device is not responsible for all the freak weather we have been experiencing recently? An article in Nexus magazine back in 1995 suggested that this 'Tesla' invention, located near Anchorage, has been partially operational since the nineteen sixties and would be fully operational, worldwide, in 1998.

Upon receiving a copy of the Nexus article last year from our mutual friend David Gray, Michael Dean and I began a prayer mission to the central sun of our entire galaxy asking for some divine intervention. I believe that one of the side effects of this dreadful HAARP device is that it will eventually cut off our prayers to the Heavens. For many years I have been fortunate enough to receive occasional spiritual guidance from certain cosmic sources. Anyone who has read any of my books will understand what I mean. However, since 1998 I have felt a distinct 'barrier' building up between the Earth and the stars. During the last summer solstice I had a vision of an enveloping blanket of darkness surrounding the Earth. Imagine my surprise and horror to see the drawings of the HAARP effect in the Nexus article some time later, showing my vision to be an evil reality!

Given such high-handed behaviour by the American military, I confess I was not surprised to read your alarming report about political assassinations being put back on the active agenda in George W. Bush's administration (For more details on this see: Assassination to be Legalized by House Bill in process at http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=19541 Jan 23 '01). The whole Republican/Bush campaign suggested a certain 'rough-house' or 'bully-boy' element within it did it not? Small wonder it received wholehearted support from the military! In the future does this mean that dissenting voices in the UK will put us on a European 'hit list' ? God help us if this proves to be the case!

Thank you Jean, for keeping me so well informed about the many different events happening around the world. I know that what I am about to say may seem platitudinous, but I do think we have a glowing future ahead of us all - eventually. I realise there is not a lot of evidence for this right now though!

Today, what does distress me is the number of young people who are giving up on life and committing suicide. Apparently, they can see no worthwhile, or viable future of any kind for themselves. If they cannot see that there is hope for the future and that there is a greater purpose to their lives, we members of the older generation have failed these youngsters completely.

Remember, this is our world, we simply have to learn to take better care of it. We can accomplish this ideal by taking back 'control' of the Earth into our own hands, from the clutches of corporate businesses. How do we achieve this? In small ways of course. By not lying down under any future localised threats or bully-boy tactics. Keep your voices raised in protest long enough and the right people will begin to listen. I know this from personal experience. I have been fighting for my own rights in this locality for over thirty years and have finally succeeded. The strain has taken its toll I admit, but I would never give up. Indeed, none of us must ever give up on this beautiful garden we are privileged to inhabit.

Never fear, Jean, I am continually grateful for your mailings although I am not always able to respond to every one of them.

May the gods continue to bless you and your work and keep you fit and well.

>Getting blase? Or is it denial? Resignation? Email overload? *YOU* tell me...

Well, in my case, it's not exactly due to being blase, or being in denial, or
in resignation. (Perhaps a touch of email overload, though).
I think what I seek when I learn about all this societal insanity is some direct
channel for me to direct my energy into changing it- such as

or some other similiar vehicle for change. Most of my energy these days goes
into being a homeless advocate- and I find it challenging enough to elevate
society's consciousness about the origins and causes of homelessness. (in addition
to Mad Cow Disease, which, of course, is important! it's not as if any of these
important considerations are in competition)

Most people simply dismiss the homeless as drunken, drugged bums- when the
reality is a different story. All over the world, thanks mainly to the Homeless
People's Network,

Homeless People's Network

The reports are coming in. From Canada. From the US. From Australia, Japan,
India, the UK- A global portrait of increasing homelessness is emerging due
to a combination of low-paying jobs and lack of affordable housing.
Every day people are literally being sent out onto the streets.
So many people are at the poverty level, that it doesn't take much to go that
one step further into homelessness. Want an example?

The Guardian index: Poverty in San Francisco - may 24th, 2000

Case in point: one of my online friends in icq innocently said to me "But I
thought the homeless wanted to be homeless".

I spent the remainder of our conversation enlightening her. The savage atrocities
committed against homeless people should be a concern for any human rights organization.
I wish that the United Nations would go into some of the "First World" countries
for a change and see that the homeless citizens' rights are upheld. After all,
the UN did come out with a "Universal Declaration of Human Rights"

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

As I scan that document, I can see any number of Articles in which homeless
people's rights are violated.

"Article 9.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile."

Homeless people are arrested and subjugated to fines and fees which further
increase the difficulty of their circumstances.

"Article 17.

(1) Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with

(2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property."

Homeless people's possessions are seized all the time, frequently taking the
last, few irreplaceable things that they needed to survive.

"Article 18.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this
right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either
alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his
religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

Homeless people are now, in some shelters, coerced into prayers or religious
practices not of their own choosing simply to get shelter for the night or a

"Article 25.

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and
well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and
medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the
event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack
of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

(2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All
children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection."

There are more homeless families than ever out on the streets.

I cite but a few of the many Articles in which the rights of the homeless are
violated on a daily basis.

I think FreeDonation.com states the situation very well, so I am quoting from
them, now:

FreeDonation.com-House the Homeless

"Homelessness and poverty are tightly linked. People who are living in poverty
often must choose between food, shelter and other basic needs. For the poor,
an accident, a medical crisis, a lost paycheck can all translate into not having
a place to call home next week.

It has been said that every human being has a primary and fundamental right
to adequate food and shelter. Yet so many people in our world are deprived of
this basic right. This right of feeling a warm bed at night, in a place called

So, to sum up here, Jean...that's more or less where I've "been"... and yes,
I will definitely channel my efforts also into combatting Mad Cow Disease- count

Dear Jean,

First of all, thank you for what you do. I've come to rely on your posts as
my major source of news. I, too, am puzzled by the massive indifference of
the American populace to the takeover of the White House by totalitarian
extremists. I have had no response to your warning about H.R. 19, the bill
to authorize assassinations by the US government, which I have sent to all
my friends and colleagues, government representatives and major newspapers.

Some reasons for the indifference might be:

1. People relying on mass media pronouncements to determine their areas
of concern.

2. People already disenchanted with government either thinking that
it's all dishonest anyway, or that somehow this will hasten the downfall of
corrupt institutions.

3. Use by the Bush handlers' CIA operatives of psychic techniques to
lull the populace.

4. A sense of disbelief that our institutions could be so compromised,
wanting to think that everything really must be OK since all of the rituals
of power have been performed.

5. Decades of acceptance of the view that government is inherently bad,
and disavowal of the legitimate role of government as guardian of the

I have made a commitment to myself to wear a black mourning button or black
armband every day that the White House is occupied by an unelected usurper
of power. This is so I won't forget too. I've worn the button every day
since January 20, and no one has asked me about it yet.

There is an email going around suggesting people make donations to Planned
Parenthood and specify the donation is made in the name of Occupant Bush for
President's Day, February 19. This will generate a thank you card from
Planned Parenthood sent to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue! The same could be done
for donations to environmental and human rights groups.

We must address the specific conditions that caused our system to
fail-reform/elimination of the electoral college process, reform of the
ballot counting process, reform of the voting process. I keep track of
what's happening in this area from the websites and emails of Working
Assets, Move On and People For The American Way. More importantly ways,
must be found and shared to stop the continuing disasters committed against
and often with the consent of an insufficiently educated populace lulled by
lies and selective exposure to information and disinformation. Perhaps one
of your upcoming meditations can be dedicated to the restoration of the
democratic spirit in the United States.

I look forward to reading the ideas of your readers.

Subject: RE: Reasons why people are not reacting!!
Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001

Hi there Jean,

Reading your coment on why are we not reacting to the madness going on in our society was food for thought...here is my musings on this...

Firstly i believe everyone is so tied up in trying to feed, heat, and clothe themselves, that our time to react is taken up on these necessities of life.

Secondly i think people are hypnotised into believing that all is really okay and that there is nothing that they on their own can do!?

Thirdly people are frustrated that nothing is happening to clean up and sort out this mess, and they feel that their voice is meeting deaf ears!

Fourthly people are thinking what next, there is so much wrong with the world, like the straw that broke the camels back... how much more is there to have to sort out and mend, clean, or change??
Which leads to their 'faith' in the worlds governments to do the right and correct thing! is not there any more.

Fifthly, so they inturn feel whats the point in trying to get these power's that be; to make the change.

Finally everyone is so tired and exhausted from all there is to be done just to live a healthy and happy life that they are feeling that there is no point trying.

They i believe are feeling the collective consciousness of 'PLEASE NO MORE!!! and IT IS ALL TO MUCH TO TRY TO HEAL AND TO MEDITATE WELL AGAIN!!!!!!'

This i believe is a turning point.... where it will change... because we are at a crossroads.... Where we will have to choose whether to stay fixated by the hypnotised norm of submissive obedience to the worlds govenrments, or choose to break away and say NO MORE! LOUDLY! and FIRMLY!

We all give our governments money, most of us gladly for our Health service, Police service, Road Maintenance, Fire service, Welfare services, all very great ways to spend our hard earnt mony, but i believe all of us would heartily agree that rather than spend money on war, use it to pay for cars to be built on compressed air, to pay the armies of the world to clean up the polution, to plant trees, to clean up the seas and to build these cars and clean energy electrical systems. We have the wisdom and technology and the money to make this planet clean, safe, and free from disease. I think the quietness is the 'calm before the storm', mans storm of action to clean up NOW!

Hi everyone.

Attached below is an interesting story from the online version of New Zealand's national newspaper, sent to me by Joan Hughes.

At a public talk given on Friday 2/2/01 by Arpad Pustzai and associates, Jeanette Fitzsimons reported that after one detailed video conference submission on Thursday 1/2/01 (I'm not sure if it was this one or not), the Commission had no questions in their cross-examination. In other words, this information (if it's the same submission) is now officially on record, unchallenged by the experts! In her estimation, she felt that the tide is turning. The web address at the end of the article also has a link to a list of useful GE websites. Graham. ---- GM bug 'could end all life'

All life on Earth could be destroyed by genetically modified bacteria, a scientist has told the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification.

Four scientists gave evidence for the Green Party at the hearing this week via video link from the United States. Soil ecologist Elaine Ingham spoke about a plant-killing GM bacteria that her Oregon State University research team prevented from being released into the environment. Dr Ingham said the alcohol-producing bacteria had been approved for field trials when her team discovered its lethal effects.

She believed the widespread plant deaths caused by the bacteria would in turn affect all life on Earth. The GM klebsiella planticola produced alcohol from post-harvest crop residue. The leftover organic sludge, containing the bacteria, would be returned to fields as fertiliser.

Dr Ingham said she had independently tested the bacteria on plants, which the regulatory authority had failed to do. "After seven days, all wheat plants turned into slime." This example showed the need for better risk assessment of ecological impact.

Green Party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons said the risks of GM organisms to the environment were currently unknown. Outdoor field trials of GM crops should never be allowed under these circumstances.

Dear Friends,

in the wake of the devastating 7.9 earthquake.

Please encourage your friends, organizations, and communities to donate

Ms. Sue Zipp

Dear  Sue:

I am overwhelmed by such large number of enquires about the earthquake devastation in India and my safety.  I do want you to know that I and millions of others survived one of the worst devastation inflicted by nature.  But, as the drama of nature's fury unfolds, each day the picture seems grimmer.  Already about 30,000 people have died, 80,000 injured and total property damage, as estimated tentatively will cross 5 billion dollars.  More than 30 towns and cities and nine thousand villages have been wiped out from the face of the earth in a poor country like India. It would take decades before life will be normal for millions of people.

Fortunately, many governments and thousands of people have poured in assistance for immediate relief, but it is all pittance compared to what is needed for resettlement of the people.  Hundreds of friends around the world have suggested that we take up the challenging task of doing something special which will benefit the poor, helpless and the uprooted through a series of plans and developments so that they can find a new life and do not become victim of another such disaster in the future.  Based on a large number of suggestions we have decided to undertake three major projects of long-term

Helping people built Eco-towns and villages using sustainable methods and materials of development such as light construction materials, water conservation programs, use of renewable forms of energy, recycling of waste, disaster prevention plans (wherever possible).

Recognizing that even after a week, most of the areas still remain unconnected as far as communication is concerned even in this age of communication technologies, our immediate plan is to set up modern communication systems in order to bring all the necessary information to the people instantly through computers and telecom.

Special programs should be set up for rehabilitation of women and children.  Lives of several thousand children and women have been ruined by the death of men, who provided economic survival to the family.  Then again, what about the injured ones?

These are only suggestions.  We are ready to undertake any project which would assist the desperate.  We are calling our project "Hope From Disaster", which we are setting up at our institute.  At present our plan is to collect US $500,000 in order to set up the project at different sites and see that these projects will make difference in lives of the people.  These programs can be expanded further once they are set up successfully.  Our goal in the long run is to assist victims of disasters, natural or human, wherever we can in the developing world.

We have set up a special global community of eminent experts from around the world to advise and assist in making the project successful.  We assure you that all our expenditure will be incurred responsibly with full accountability.  We are a registered NGO with the United Nations for more than a decade and we have worked in more than 30 countries during this period.

More than 100 state-owned restaurants in Beijing promised this month
to "go green" and start washing and reusing chopsticks. The federal
government in China is considering a tax on disposable chopsticks,
and Shanghai and other cities are considering a ban on them.
Environmentalists say the changes indicate that Chinese citizens are
beginning to realize that their consumer decisions affect the
environment. China currently discards about 45 billion pairs of
chopsticks every year, coming from as many as 25 million trees. Kang
Dahu, a 22-year volunteer with green groups, said, "Just imagine,
years from now, when my grandchildren ask me what happened to all of
China's trees, I'll have to say, 'We made them into chopsticks.'

Because you're so widely known, placing those words from my signature
line so close to your signature will shortly have people quoting them
here and there, and likely attributing them to you.

I'm quite happy for anyone who understands those words and feels s/he
can stand by them, to 'adopt' them and to align with the spirit they
stand to represent.

But for the historical/planetary record:

The words appeared, fully-formed in my mind one day, as my brother and
I were beginning to create Well Now Health Information Service. I
'heard' them, and knew that they were true, and knew that they
expressed what I was already coming to see was true for myself. They
are the true 'core' of Well Now Health Information Service. It was
some time before I felt clear enough about it, to make them my personal
signature line as well -- but there they be, and are likely to stay,
till even clearer words may appear to replace them.
