Subject: The Millennium Miracle
After a 10 day break, I'm back to carry on this information networking and awareness-waking service you've got used to over the last 12 months. However, after due consideration, I've decided to now shift most of my time and attention to writing up a book that has been on my mind for some time, and therefore I'll be much less available to read all the material so many people forward to me and to put together my usual theme-oriented compilations. This is not to say that I'll stop entirely. Just that they'll be less numerous -- I think I hear a collective sigh of relief ;-) -- and less regular. Consequently also, I'd like to express to all of you -- especially to those who often forward me interesting material -- the urgent request to be extremely selective in what you choose to submit to my attention and to delete me from any regular list of recipients you might have.
Of course, I will always welcome your personal letters and any comment you feel inspired to share with everyone on this list with regard to my posts or to any other subject you deem important and relevant to a group of nearly 1600 people from around the world. But please, avoid simply forwarding me material circulating on the Net or taken from a website without including a personal comment explaining why you feel this matter should be of interest to everyone on the list, and also including a brief summary of its content, especially if it's a long document to read. That would really be an invaluable service both to me and to everyone on this list who also have limited time to go through lots of reading material.
Now as for the book I intend to manifest, its core subject will be the future of this planet we all choose on a day-to-day basis by where we decide to focus our attention, creativity and resources, and, most importantly, the beginning of a new world which is taking shape at warp speed before our very eyes. This book is envisioned to be a multi-layered exploration of the experience of being alive right now at this crux and convergence of so many lifestreams and psycho-historical buildups. It will encompass visionary and undoubtedly very "inspired" writings from higher realms of perception - the God Consciousness That Is in All of Us - as well as a smorgasborg of information and references from all kinds of sources so as to paint a holographic and multidimensional picture of the ever emerging New Reality as many souls see it. I will select this from the mass of material and comments already accumulated through the Earth Rainbow Network archives of emails as well as from the comments and relevant material you'll be inspired to share with me as a result of reading the selected excerpts from the book I'll send you all as they will manifest through my "assistance".
So be hereby advised that whatever you write to me *could* be retained for inclusion into this book, not as part of the main body of the book that will be published in hard copy, but as part of all the reference material that will be appended to this book and available through an accompanying CD-rom and on a website specifically dedicated to this collective co-creative work. Also, if I succeed in mastering the multimedia programming software a good friend of mine will teach me to use, this CD-rom and, to a lesser extent, the website will also contain picture, music, guided meditations and video and audio interviews, all designed to complement the main body of this book. If I decide to include something, long or short, you have written or will write, I'll certainly let you know first and ask you to confirm by snail mail that I have your permission to do so.
Now before sharing with you below some of the material and comments I received following the Year 2000 rollover, I'd like to share some thoughts with you. The first that comes to mind is that, as most of you have probably felt, there was an exhilarating feeling of joy and buoyant hope for the future permeating this entire 24 hour period - and it is still lingering to this day "in the air". Not only the much touted risks of havoc caused by the Y2K bug did not materialize, but I felt that the entire world rallied in a spirit of Peace, Unity and Love to celebrate in all kinds of ways this beginning of a new era - no matter the fact that this whole event is entirely man-made and absolutely inaccurate with regard to the actual time line leading to this change of century and millennium. When we remember some of the dreadful things that were expected by so many sources, when you think of all those military-style preparations for various worst-case scenarios, it almost seems as if a miracle occurred. Everything went marvellously well, the weather was just perfect almost everywhere and if you had a chance to watch some portions of the 25 hour Millennium Day broadcast, seen by well over one billion people, with live feeds and pre-recorded events from over 60 countries, you could really see and sense that something wonderful was going on around the world.
So we roll on, more confident than ever that a bright future do indeed shine on the horizon of our destiny, as more and more of us allow in them the vision that Benevolence *is* and will continue to be the all-pervasive frequency permeating the human psyche and leading us towards a world of Harmony with Nature, Peace on Earth, Love for all and Unity in our multifacetted and so vital diversity.

From: "Neal Owen Kruse" <email@example.com> (by way of Palden Jenkins <firstname.lastname@example.org>) Subject: The Spirit of Y2K
Here are some interesting thoughts from a good friend of mine in California. He's a dedicated community campaigner called Neal Kruse.
THE SPIRIT OF Y2K
A message to my friends:
I had a vision last night. OK, maybe not the kind where someone materializes out of thin air and starts talking, but it was a vision nevertheless. The last few days, I have been wondering about all the effort we put into Y2K, the community work, the preparation, dealing with the possibilities and trying to understand our responsibilities to our loved ones and to each other. I already have friends telling me I was wrong about Y2K and asking me if I have finally decided to give up the role of "doomsdayer", a title which I still don't quite understand. I was raised to "expect the best, and prepare for the worst". I thought that was what we were doing.
Nevertheless, it has been a time of introspection. Were we wrong to try to create awareness about the possible dangers of Y2K? Did we waste our time? Was this all for nothing?
Then, last night, at a friend's house, I watched Koskinen speaking on CSPAN before the press. He talked about the success of the efforts made by corporations and people around the world. He talked about cooperation between something like 170 countries, many in open conflict with each other, but all of them letting down their guards long enough to get their Y2K vulnerable information systems working in sync. And then he said something extraordinary. I will have to paraphrase. He said that *the international cooperation around the Y2K issue has created a community of nations second only to the United Nations itself*. Please remember, I'm paraphrasing. But that is when the light went on.
HERE IS A RELEVANT QUOTE ON THIS:
Y2K Chief Suggests Expanding Network
The nations that established a World Bank-backed network to prepare for Y2K computer problems are considering ways to extend their cooperation, the U.S. government's top Year 2000 expert said Saturday.
As part of the preparations, he said, Latin American nations had produced a continent-wide map of electricity grids, "something that has never been done before."
"There's a great network out there now and we need to keep it going."

(Neal Kruse - continued)
I thought of all the community groups around the country that started as a result of Y2K, all the businesses that became strong and more flexible in dealing with it's potential threat. On the radio the other day, the City Manager of San Francisco talked about his delight with the state of readiness of the city services on every level as a result of Y2K. I thought of all the people around the world who came together, whether as nations, or individuals or businesses, and took time to work TOGETHER, because they all wanted something more than their fighting with each other could ever give them. They all wanted to be part of the global network. Not the New World Order one, not the one being offered up by the United Nations, but the one being now assembled by the ordinary people of the world, people like you and me.
Koskinen almost had a shine on his face as he was speaking so very politely to the press. I realized that he saw the vision too. I realized he was trying to be subtle, but that he was also telling the reporters not to get lost in the details, not to overlook the greater vision of what has begun to happen around the Y2K issue. Humanity has perhaps found a rallying point that no one was looking for, a reason to lay down the weapons and talk, a need for common ground. And he was very clear that he thought it would continue, almost insisted that it continue, as every country would realize no matter who its enemies, the one time it would be forced to participate and cooperate would be when it wanted to connect to the marketplace of the world. Y2K proved that.
We are far from done dealing with the issue of Y2K, not to mention the increasing change in the weather, the increase of armed conflict around the globe, the constant international bickering between governments and nations threatening war. We are not in the clear. But what Y2K has shown us, if we just take the time to look in the right direction, is that every country and every person benefits far more from being a part of the world community than they do from holding onto their petty grievances that keep them apart from it.
So it may be with the other challenges coming our way. Like Y2K, we will find a reason for neighbor to help neighbor, for country to help country, a reason why we should all work together that just may keep this planet going for yet another millennium.
I am proud to have been, and to continue to be, part of a local citizen's Y2K community group and to have worked for the betterment of my friends and neighbors and the world.
You should be too.
From: "dowen" <email@example.com> Subject: Y2K BUG RESULTS IN GLOBAL HEALING! Date: Sat, 8 Jan 2000
Far from the non-event we are being asked to forget the Y2K Bug is playing its part in healing the planet.
The Y2K Bug has brought a new awareness of global interconnectedness and interdependence from a state of denial to a place of feeling through.
We are all the more able to identify with those whose suffering stands in contrast to our relief at having survived.
The process of anticipating, living and surviving the big moment is a healing process. This healing process itself has brought people together to problem solve, to think harder and feel more deeply and clearly - all adding to our experiences of our 'collective interconnectedness'. We have made our connection more real (in contrast to the fear that our 'connections' would be severed).
This connecting is eternal. having lived through this moment together, that moment, and that togetherness can never be unlived.
This connecting encompasses the whole planet, preparing us to celebrate the way our planet is interconnected with the cosmos. Wholes within wholes. holons within holons - the essence of holistic culture.
Having suffered the fear and discomfort of the Y2K Bug (quite enough for e than you - I don't need it to have been any worse to get the message) -- we are now in the perfect position to harvest this healing, as we breathe our collective sighs of relief, knowing we can never unlearn what Alan Watts called the Wisdom Of insecurity.
I am glad to be alive! Transformation is always amazing, and witnessing such global healing transformation is an honour and a gift.
Thank you for this moment,

As we move through the month of January in the year 2000, many people will speak of "how Y2K never happened", how it was all "a hoax", how "nothing occurred"
..well I see it very different than that.
I saw a lot happen..did you ?
I watched the world address the possibility of major change to the systems and ways of life we now share and the prospect that we may have to do something about how we live.
I observed the chance for the entire world's population to address the same concerns at the same time something never before happened in our modern world.
I noticed each person being presented with a "challenge" and the accompanying thoughts that go along with each person as they view themselves in relationship to the whole.
I saw those that worried about their lives, and families their "small world" as they attempted to understand the possibility of such magnitude occurring.
I observed just as many take on the job of watching what the globe was doing in response to the crisis at hand - to watch the "big world" and monitor its progress.
I noticed as each of us was given a grand opportunity to really look at our lives and ourselves. And change them if necessary.
I watched many assess their own strengths and weaknesses and take stock of themselves. I saw many do a lot and many do nothing.
I looked at many view their own vulnerability as they compared their own exposed condition to the encumbrance of the whole infrastructure we call "society".
I watched as many prepared for the worst - arm themselves against the world. I saw as those that feared the most prepared the least (and visa versa).
I watched as many lost hope and saddled themselves with thoughts of destruction and despair - - an apocalyptic mind-set that forgot about the "Goodness and Godness" that still resides within us and our planet.
I noticed many people condemn the world and allow the world to condemn them for their dread had come to light.
I saw many that thought of the worlds systems of war and control become real issues in their lives as they looked upon these things in a "new way" many with fear and trepidation.
I saw many things occur as the year changed over -- did you ?
I watched as many turned their backs on the world - declaring themselves "separate" from the possibility of change occurring to them as if they could be "outside" of such circumstances - and the lack of "preparation" taken on their own behalf.
I observed as some circles pitted "friend against friend", "spouse against spouse" as discussions and arguments loomed heavy over the great possibility that was not being spoken about - except by the "believers".
I saw just as many open their hearts and homes as they gathered the supplies and resources necessary to share with those less fortunate.
I noticed many groups coming together as a "family" - networking ideas and resources on "how to make it" - - sharing in the true communal sense of the word.
I watched as many found a renewed sense with Nature and vowed to grow their own in the fields of food and sustenance to be responsible for who and what they are.
I observed as many people vowed to take "matters into their own hands" should the need occur to plant the seeds of the "future" now to be a force that would lead the way for the rest who followed.
I looked as many groups and individuals gathered all over the globe over in record numbers for prayer and meditation destined to be the "change they wanted to see in the world" - - by radiating the Thought-forms of Love, Peace and Understanding - - great emanations of Faith that can "move mountains" if need be.
I watched as great responses poured forth out of Humanity towards Heaven (whether you knew it or not) as the Divine One observed what was in our Hearts and Minds in regards to ourselves to our own lives, the lives of others and our thoughts on our world.
I saw great strides being taken by many workers, whose task it was to "correct the mistakes" and bring stability and balance to our fragile infrastructure - - men and women who toiled heavily and may not have been thanked for their efforts as they made sure that "all systems are go".
I observed countless number of "big businesses" that poured millions upon billions of dollars into the reparations necessary to keep everything "where it had been" - so that no "progress" was ultimately made. We may not have moved "backwards" by the crisis known as the Y2K Bug, but we may not have moved ahead eithergreat sums of cash were spent to keep everything just "as it was".
Innumerable are those that may not have been given the chance to demonstrate their powers of survival or the size of their generosity - - for they think that "nothing happened in regards to Y2K" and will go on about their lives as if nothing happened..
But what I see is not "over" or finished in the least - - the "lead-in time" to Y2K was anywhere from 6 months to 2 years for most people and the "lead-out" time will be played out accordingly - - January represented the "mid-point" to what is occurring.for the premise of Y2K made an impact on each of us - whether it be momentary or prolonged - - as each of us was and is presented with a possibility and a probability of CHANGE. A change for the better !
As you go into the days, weeks and months ahead, will you slide right back into conventional living and become dependant once more on systems and modes of living that may not be in your best and highest interest - - just because they didn't "break down" as suspected ? or will your vows and resolutions be to make the world a better place, will you "use" what you have learned about your life and your world ?
I hope that you can see that Y2K did happen in a big way..as it touched each of us in a way that may not have been observable "on the surface" but deep down where we really "live" where it matters who we "really are" - - for it is here that Y2K has affected us the most - - WITHIN.
Our world and its workings are just the outer manifestation of who we are within - - and if anything, we were shown our own vulnerability.
Let the months and years ahead show us the means for creating the world that serves us, not destroys us - for all of the systems and functions of the globe are but "tools" that we may use in our growth and evolvement as Humans - let us not be ruled by them.
May we each pledge to work in our own way and ability to be a force of change within the world to bring forth that which will sustain, uplift and enlighten us - individually and collectively. May we begin to live the life we would like to have.today !
Y2DAY is not over and done withit has just begun !
NOW IS THE TIME OF CHOOSING ! PEACE TO YOU IN 2000 !

From our 1000 year old kingdom of Denmark, I want to send you our warmest regards. I forward your mails to my maillist comprising a number of wonderful Lightworkers in various parts of Denmark plus a few people in other countries. We read your mails with great interest and from all of us I want to say thank you so much for your great enthusiasm and for your caring for Mother Earth and for all of us. Keep up your good work! * * * (THANKS HANNE)
Before Christmas a candle was lit in the church of Bethlehem in Israel and the flame was brought out to many countries. It also came to Denmark and on Dec. 21 in the evening 25+ lightworkers met in a beautiful garden - with candles in our hands - around a small tree sparkling in the cold darknes from a chain of numerous tiny light bulbs. From an oil lamp lit from the Bethlehem flame we all had our candles lit singing our old Christmas psalms. In a meditation we took the flame into our hearts and after a tea break inside during another meditation 7 angels came marching in escorting Mother Mary and Quan Yin who brought us the gifts of Love Wisdom.
Our Bethlehem flames have been kept burning ever since in our homes and have been brought out to neighbours and friends. I am convinced that the year 2000 will be the start of our wonderful future and I want to send out to yourself and all of our Lightworker friends the flame of love and wisdom that will carry us safely into our shining, wonderful future. So - tomorrow let us all together envision our future paradise where JOY, LOVE PEACE prevail!

My Y2K Wishes and thoughts
Last night, (I can barely sleep anymore), as usual I was tossing and thinking. Lately I have been reading alot of ancient history. I find it enlightening, daunting, depressing. The human species is so consistently strange, so fearful, greedy, passionate, violent, loving, courageous and cruel.
In the past 6,000 years nothing has changed. Oh yes, I know we have this new technology and I like it as much as anyone. I who hate to wash a dish or scrub the floor! <g>
But the human heart, our predisposition to fear and war---it's all been the same. You can say we don't have slavery anymore, but is that true? How many human beings are really free to think and feel without a cage, a limitation of a narrow band of frequencies pressuring them to consume, to assimilate, to reproduce, to behave like the mob, to go into debt?
In my life (I was born in 1945) I personally feel that individual freedom has been diminished in the most insidious way. Television and the media and general tells us all in the most powerful way possible how we should look, dress, feel, and what we must own to be part of...part of what???
Part of the 'cool' slavery. I have already expressed my feelings concerning dot.coma.
Are we nothing more than a genetic experiment on the periphery of this galaxy? An experiment that is perhaps failing?
Last night I was remembering that there are 300 million galaxies (Is that correct?) out there. You can think me mad, but I have memories of other planets, other existences.
Even if I am delusional, it is a far greater MADNESS to imagine that we earthlings are the ONLY living beings in the vast universe of creation.
Sometimes I can feel them, all the multitudes of beings pulsating, vibrating all throughout all the galaxies and all the dimensional realities---and I am exhausted, overwhelmed, stricken, and delirious at the sheer magnitude of God's indescribable, insane, unrelenting JOY in every unimaginable and imaginable piece of Its ubiquitous SELF resonating, vibrating, reproducing, burning, consuming, building, copulating, destroying, dying everywhere.
Oh, how I long to touch that Source once more, to go Home, to be Home, to feel that JOY, that divine madness, to get in my ship, waiting patiently for me outside this time, and fly through the galaxies free from tyrants, toxins, and the endless pathos and pitfalls of human ambition.
So, my friends, I wish you all a grand and mad year 2000! Remember that we are all God. Remember that we are all Love. And that is all there is. Just an Isness termed Love playing in Time and Space.
Happy New Year.

NOT Out of Y2K Danger Yet
Banking, accounting and other data errors surface Problems expected from "digital duct tape" approach of some businesses
"Y2K is not a one-time event--it's a chronic condition" --computer programmer Lane Core
"Expect LOTS of Y2K snafus" (ahead) --Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, 1.3.00
Although mass media corporations are for the most part giving quite the positive, cheery spin to their reports on the overall impact of the Y2K computer bug up until this point in time, we find it somewhat hard to support this view--in light of incidents like the NUMBER of Y2K bug-induced failures in such things as plant monitoring systems at nuclear plants in Japan, the U.S. and Europe; and in light of the fact that all Russia's utilities, for example, are currently being operated and controlled manually. It's surmised that some utilities in other countries--perhaps including the U.S.--may also be under manual control.
This CNN report below makes note of other rather alarming failures and errors which have now surfaced due to the glitch affecting both private businesses AND government agencies.
January 4, 2000
From Staff and Wire Reports
Much of the world has returned to work and found it was mostly business as usual, despite the calendar rollover to the year 2000.
But some information technology experts warn that the Y2K bug is still lurking in many systems.
They say that the biggest risk was never to power grids, missile systems or telephone exchanges, but rather to complicated backroom systems on which the world's corporations and governments run. And they add that the vast majority of year 2000 computer problems won't turn up for days, weeks or even months.
"Now is the tough time. The next few months are going to be the toughest Y2K time," said Dale W. Way, bug point man at the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
"It is possible that bugs will manifest themselves in the coming days and weeks," said Ed Yourdon, a computer programmer and author who for years has warned the world -- on his Web site and in his book "Time Bomb 2000" -- of a calamity stemming from the rollover to 2000.
Issuing a warning similar to that of the U.S. government's own Y2K experts, Yourdon told The New York Times that while many large companies and utilities have cleared up their Y2K defects, there was less work done by smaller firms that use older software.
Many minor glitches have already shown up. Driver's licenses could not be issued in nearly half of New Mexico's motor vehicle offices. A vital payroll computer died at an Alabama company. A small part of a Danish bank's payment system was erased. Digital meters on taxis stopped functioning in many Chinese cities.
Digital duct tape
At greatest risk in the private sector are the accounting, inventory, invoicing, billing and other systems integral to survival -- a crazy quilt of interconnected programs often cobbled together over decades.
Such "custom applications," also common in government agencies, are nothing like the control systems at power and water plants, which are typically spare, easy to maintain and fortified by built-in redundancy.
Instead, they tend to be a mishmash of different software languages riddled with updates and patches applied over decades like digital duct tape that experts say make them especially susceptible to Y2K errors.
"Every large company says they have some software that they run routinely without even knowing what it does," Way said. "They are afraid not to run it -- because they're afraid of screwing up if they don't."
That's why tampering with such code to try to purge it of Y2K bugs can often introduce new unrelated errors. Programming is an art, not a science, and not all programmers are Picassos.
Errors also may not occur until triggered by a particular event.
"A program whose job is to track the pressure in a chemical plant's boiler ... may not activate until a certain temperature is reached," said Norman Dean, director of the Center for Y2K and Society, a Washington public interest group. "And that may not happen until next week and it may not happen until next year."
Infected systems are apt not to blow up, but rather to degrade over time -- linked in many cases to monthly report generation or billing cycles -- and often not even be easily identifiable as Y2K-induced.
"Y2K effects will linger far past January as a patina of rust" on information systems, predicted Robert X. Cringely, a Silicon Valley commentator.
Leap year fear
While many governments dismantled Y2K bunkers Monday and a World Bank-funded international Y2K clearinghouse in Washington canceled all further press briefings, big companies remained vigilant.
"Our feeling here at AT
T is that we won't close the book on Y2K until February 29," said company spokesman Dave Johnson. "First of all, we need all our billing systems to run a full cycle and then we want to take a close look at the leap year."
There's typically -- but not always --- an extra day in February every four years, and this leap year is particularly unusual.
Leap day 2000 is "the exception to the exception," explained Rick Weirich, the Postal Service's vice president for information technology.
Some computers may not expect a leap day this year, and thus skip ahead to March 1, he explained.
Because the actual year is slightly longer than 365 days, an extra leap day is added every fourth year.
But that still doesn't make things come out quite even over time, so leap days normally are skipped in years ending in 00. Except -- and here's the problem -- if the year ending in 00 can be divided evenly by 400 it still is a leap year.
So the Y2K computer problem simply will not go away. Due to the extra day issue, it will even nag us on December 31, 2000.
As programmer Lane Core likes to say in Internet columns that harangue what he considers mainstream media's simplistic coverage of the issue: "Y2K is not a one-time event. It's a chronic condition."
