I'm sending you right away what I've gathered so far for you because there is an interesting HEAL THE EARTH WOUND" GLOBAL HEALING INITIATIVE below which may be of interest to some... and I'd like to suggest that if you wish to do what is proposed, you could do it next Sunday, as part of the Meditation Focus, to energize some water (as suggested) which you'll then pour in a large body of water (ideally that is connected with the ocean)... or you can also do this at any other time that best suits you. This reminds me of experiences carried by Masaru Emoto who, through his water experiments, allegedly showed that water reacted to thought and could be programmed by thought intention, as is explained in more details in The Power Of Prayer and in a video at http://www.hado.net/. But of course not everyone - especially diehard scientists - believes in what Emoto purports to demonstrate as exemplified HERE and HERE (this is a tough bubble deflator for true believers in Emoto's claims). Yet many believe that water has memory - this notion being at the basis of homeopathy, for instance. Even if there is no scientific proof of this belief, that doesn't prevent millions of people to use homeopathy, sometime with amazing results. There is certainly much more still to be discovered (scientifically) about the amazing properties of water, one of them possibly being to communicate a self-healing message originating from a focalized human intention... which is the gist of this fascinating collective experiment proposed below. Certainly worth a good try IMHO.
Aside from that, you'll find a well stocked buffet of news and views along with a wide assortment of information ranging from the hardly palatable type to the stunningly entertaining or enlightening ones, with some delicious nuggets of good news thrown in the mix... the usual fare!

"Of course, many of those who go around telling their fancy stories and/or hoaxes to others usually include some glimpses of truth that they gleaned from elsewhere and thus their scams and stories appear more credible because of this... which is the hook that catches the gullible ones. What I'm encouraging you to do however is NOT to trust my judgement or anyone else's opinion. Use your OWN discernment or grow it through using your intelligence. Develop your own intuitive abilities and when you feel something does not resonate as true (at least for you at that point in time) or if something sounds too good (extreme, outrageous, wild) to be true, then trust YOURSELF, your own intuition, that this is NOT true indeed, or perhaps only partly true. The world is filled with false prophets who make a living conning others. This world is also, for many, a tentacular maya (delusionary) experience from which it can be quite hard to extirpate oneself to finally find the real gold nuggets of true spiritual wisdom that grows through love-driven, soul-connected beings... and THAT is the real purpose of our existence... claiming our true divine nature amidst a cacophony of utter intellectual and delusionary rubbish."

"Humans really learn the hard way. So much spent on waste and destruction instead of on beauty and amity. When I think of the billions the Palestine/Israel conflict has cost and wonder what a a wonderful country could have been created if it had been spent in other ways. It is an epic tragedy in suffering and dreadful waste."

VICTORY FOR WHALES! https://secure.avaaz.org/en/whales_reportback_1/
The past few weeks have been incredible -- together we built the biggest whale-saving petition in history, signed by an extraordinary 1.2 million of us, and delivered it directly to key delegates at the International Whaling Commission meeting. And we've just succeeded in beating a proposal that would have legalized commercial whale hunting! This is an important victory for whales. But winning this battle wont guarantee the whales safety yet -- Japan is already set to continue killing whales for "scientific" reasons. To win for good, well need to campaign to strengthen and reform the IWC, and to mobilise in countries with pro-whaling governments like Japan. We can do it, if enough of us chip in. Help us fund campaigning in Japan and other key nations!
Watching Whales Watching Us (July 12, 2009) http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/magazine/12whales-t.html
Scientists have now documented behaviors like tool use and cooperative hunting strategies among whales. Orcas, or killer whales, have been found to mourn their own dead. Just three years ago, researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York discovered, in the brains of a number of whale species, highly specialized neurons that are linked to, among other things, the use of language and were once thought to be the exclusive property of humans and a few other primates. Indeed, marine biologists are now revealing not only the dizzying variety of vocalizations among a number of whale species but also complex societal structures and cultures. Whales, we now know, teach and learn. They scheme. They cooperate, and they grieve. They recognize themselves and their friends. They know and fight back against their enemies. And perhaps most stunningly, given all of our transgressions against them, they may even, in certain circumstances, have learned to trust us. For all of their inherent elusiveness, the gray whales of Baja baffle scientists for the opposite reason: They cant seem to get enough of us humans. The question of why present-day gray-whale mothers, some of whom still bear harpoon scars, would take to seeking us out and gently shepherding their young into our arms is a mystery that now captivates whale researchers and watchers alike.
BP Slick Covers Dolphins and Whales - Video filmed on June 21, 2010 - HEART-WRENCHING! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxDf-KkMCKQ
This was the most emotionally disturbing video I have ever done! A flight over the BP Slick Source where I saw at least 100 Dolphins in the oil, some dying. I also photographed a Sperm Whale covered in oil all around it's blow hole. Please spread this around the world. Send me any links to places it gets posted so I can follow. I want to piss off the world. Who will answer for these gentle creatures? More from John Wathen (who made this video) at his blog: http://www.bpoilslick.blogspot.com/
OIL SPILL - UN trucks preparations for martial law in Florida? (June 9, 2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwbtJHK4cd8
First, this is not an "Air Force Base" it is a PRIVATELY OWNED FACILITY known as "Reynolds Airpark" a private Airport and "manufacturing facility". A Mr. Ted McGowan is the manager -- and their phone number is: 904-284-3505. Second, these are not "U.N. Vehicles". These white vans belong to Pegasus International and Cerberus/DynCorp. (...) "Pegasus International" owns and operates Pegasus Technologies -- which is involved in a neat little NSA/CIA operation titled the "Information Sharing Council" or ISC. Their "unclassified" 2006 report can be seen here (pdf). A careful reading of this document shows that part of the "Pegasus Program" is the deployment of thousands of vehicles across America, outfitted with domestic spying "Maximum Information Technology" (MaxIT) systems. (...) WHAT IN THE GATES OF HELL IS GOING ON????? Here we have VISUAL PROOF of hundreds of vehicles undergoing modifications by Pegasus International teams at their Reynolds AirPark facility, all indications of MaxIT information is that the process involved is basically making the vehicles ultra-modern "spy-mobiles" (the on-line google-earth picture was dated Jan. 2008, while the most current picture of May 28, 2010 -shows the spy-vans still on property.) We also now know that Dyncorp is now Cerberus, and they are tied to Pegasus International. - Check also Thousands of UN Vehicles and Tons of Equipment Masking At Florida Airbase? UPDATE
Whistle blower to testify on oil spill worst fear: BP deliberately sinks oil with Corexit as cover up (June 30, 2010) http://tinyurl.com/2ae28lj
In a shocking interview with CNNs Anderson Cooper on June 29th, Allegiance Capitol Corporation V.P. Fred McCallister said that BP is deliberately sinking oil with the toxic chemical disbursant Corexit, to hide the size of the oil spill. By sinking the oil before it can be collected, BP wont have to pay fines on it. McCallister said, Everybody in Europe, where the standard practice is to raise the oil and collect it, is scratching their heads, and quite honestly laughing at whats happening in the Gulf. He added, Everyone is looking at us and wondering why were allowing this to happen. McCallister is set to appear before a Senate investigative panel on Thursday and testify that BPs only interests regarding the Deepwater Horizon spill is protectimg their own financial interests. His statements explained why BP has been refusing offers of help from additional foreign skimmers. BPs fear is that independent skimmers would be able to count the number of gallons collected, and thus provide the US government with data to assess spill rate financial penalties against BP, according to McCallister. BP is in control of this situation and they are doing whats in the best interests of BP and their shareholders, McCallister said.

NOTE FROM JEAN: In my last compilationv I had included an excerpt from this: Barry Soetoro, Imposter in Chief, Implements CODEX ALIMENTARIUS by Executive Order in the U.S.! (June 14, 2010) - Upon seeing that, an ERN subscriber (who prefers to remain anonymous) wrote to the Alliance for Natural Health USA about this alleged implemented Executive Order regarding Codex Alimentarius and received this reply from Emily Stevenson, Membership Director: "This is a false rumor ANH has debunked several times. It appears that the author is using sensational claims to get people worked up. This Executive Order is unrelated to Codex, and Codex has not passed in the US. Congress directed the President to establish this advisory Public Health Council that submits reports and makes recommendations to the President and Congress on prevention and public health matters. These reports are *not* law. ANH-USA and other health freedom and natural health orgs knew about the formation of this Public Health Council because it was included in the healthcare reform bill. The President was simply carrying out the creation of a council that the healthcare reform bill had mandated that he create. We will keep our eyes on this council and report about its formation and subsequent actions. Rest assured ANH-USA would not allow Codex to pass without alerting our readers and supporters." Costco! Just say NO to wholesale ocean destruction http://us.greenpeace.org/site/DocServer/Costco_Seafood_Toolkit.pdf
This is a toolkit created by Greenpeace to encourage everyone to put pressure upon Costco so they stop selling endangered species of fish. Here is how Greenpeace descripbe this suggested action: "Costco is selling more than just pickles and peanut butter in wholesale sizes; theyre also selling wholesale ocean destruction. Greenpeace surveys found that Costco continues to sell fifteen of the twenty-two red list seafood items, namely: Alaskan pollock, Atlantic cod, Atlantic salmon, Atlantic sea scallops, Chilean sea bass, grouper, monkfish, ocean quahog, orange roughy, red snapper, redfish, South Atlantic albacore tuna, swordfish, tropical shrimp, and yellowfin tuna. Costco must clean up its act. Heres where you can help (and have some fun in the process). You know the old saying, knowledge is power? Well, we are going to make sure that people everywhere know that Costco is a major contributor to wholesale ocean. Download the toolkit today and help us spread the word in your community! Because until people everywhere know that Costco contributes to wholesale ocean destruction, were not going to get them to clean up their act.Our oceans deserve better."
Can You Conceive of a New Monetary Culture? http://newmonetaryculture.com/
Find out how to do this locally - Come to an evening event with Tom Greco - Sponsored by an Alliance of Southern Oregon Organizations For Sustainable Communities -- Tom Greco is a longtime scholar and author on the history of our flawed, government- controlled fiat money system. He traces the evolution of money, and details the fundamental realities of a financial system that is built on the growth imperative growth at any cost and controlled by the elite for the elite. Mr. Greco makes clear that the centralized control of money and credit at the top is the elites primary foundation of power. To reduce our dependence on Washington and the Bankers we need to bring the control of money and credit back to the communities. By keeping more of our money local we can minimize the costs imposed upon our commerce by major corporate institutions, devolve power back to the local level, and achieve renewed prosperity together. His well thought-out and detailed prescriptions for change are the result of three decades of study and world travel, investigating ideas both old and new, looking for what works and what doesnt. Based on the monetary alternatives of mutual credit clearing and local complementary currencies, Grecos system would insulate us from the larger financial crises, and empower communities to make their own decisions about these critical issues. SPECIAL "HEAL THE EARTH WOUND" GLOBAL HEALING INITIATIVE
Recommended on June 28, 2010 by Jonathan Eveleigh (email@example.com) who wrote:
What the mainstream media is reporting about the oil disaster as more of a clean up operation is sadly false. The facts are far more serious. You may not want to watch these YouTube videos as frankly they are disturbing. I personally believe that there are people who, realising their day is done, would stop at nothing, if they cannot have their way then why should any one else in the world. Amidst the disinformation from both sides there is the truth and, as spiritual family, we remember that what we give our attention to grows, and we know that greater powers are here to help that only need to be asked, for the best outcome requires a miracle. For the sake of the whales and dolphins and all forms of life now suffering, this calls for our prayers to reach to the highest powers of spirit.
Below these links is a simple blessings ritual that you may try, adapt, even share with others, because it is something that we can do, and to which nature will gladly receive and undoubtedly respond in ways we cannot imagine, but miracles will surely come from it.
"Others are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important."
Water of Life Blessing ~ Power to Heal the Earth Wound
You can help the healing of the Gulf Oil Wound of our Mother Earth
in a simple way that will empower your prayers and meditations.
Water is life's universal connection.
Every being is connected to every other being
with water, earth, fire and air.
Water carries every thought you give to it.
Water creates with every message it is given.
Water touches a seed and it grows.
Water is the power to heal and make live.
Dedicate your prayers and meditations
with this simple powerful blessing.
~ a beautiful thing we can all do... ~
Take a bowl of clear water.
Hold the water to your third eye
as you imagine the water being energised
with LOVE and INTENTION.
Say softly and clearly to the water, with feeling...
LOVE * LOVE * LOVE
Think clearly what gift you are asking for, what you want to happen,
and instruct the water with a message, one or two words, like
HEALING (the wound of the Earth)...
AWAKENING (the people to our planetary responsibility)...
FREEDOM (for all those souls who have no liberty)...
Pour the water into the ocean, a river, a well, a pond or lake,
to whatever you can give the water too that feels right.
Water is connected to every being
and your prayers will be empowered and will be answered.
This blessing ritual is akin to the Age of Aquarius

Did 9/11 Justify the War in Afghanistan? (2010-06-24) http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19891
Using the McChrystal Moment to Raise a Forbidden Question -- There are many questions to ask about the war in Afghanistan. One that has been widely asked is whether it will turn out to be Obamas Vietnam.1 This question implies another: Is this war winnable, or is it destined to be a quagmire, like Vietnam? These questions are motivated in part by the widespread agreement that the Afghan government, under Hamid Karzai, is at least as corrupt and incompetent as the government the United States tried to prop up in South Vietnam for 20 years. Although there are many similarities between these two wars, there is also a big difference: This time, there is no draft. If there were a draft, so that college students and their friends back home were being sent to Afghanistan, there would be huge demonstrations against this war on campuses all across this country. If the sons and daughters of wealthy and middle-class parents were coming home in boxes, or with permanent injuries or post-traumatic stress syndrome, this war would have surely been stopped long ago. People have often asked: Did we learn any of the lessons of Vietnam? The US government learned one: If youre going to fight unpopular wars, dont have a draft hire mercenaries! There are many other questions that have been, and should be, asked about this war, but in this essay, I focus on only one: Did the 9/11 attacks justify the war in Afghanistan? This question has thus far been considered off-limits, not to be raised in polite company, and certainly not in the mainstream media. It has been permissible, to be sure, to ask whether the war during the past several years has been justified by those attacks so many years ago. But one has not been allowed to ask whether the original invasion was justified by the 9/11 attacks. However, what can be designated the McChrystal Moment the probably brief period during which the media are again focused on the war in Afghanistan in the wake of the Rolling Stone story about General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, which led to his resignation provides the best opportunity for some time to raise fundamental questions about this war. Various commentators have already been asking some pretty basic questions: about the effectiveness and affordability of the present counterinsurgency strategy and even whether American fighting forces should remain in Afghanistan at all. But I am interested in an even more fundamental question: Whether this war was ever really justified by the publicly given reason: the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This question has two parts: First, did these attacks provide a legal justification for the invasion of Afghanistan? Second, if not, did they at least provide a moral justification? CLIP
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange breaks cover but will avoid America (June 21, 2010) http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/jun/21/wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-breaks-cover
The elusive founder of WikiLeaks, who is at the centre of a potential US national security sensation, has surfaced from almost a month in hiding to tell the Guardian he does not fear for his safety but is on permanent alert. Julian Assange, a renowned Australian hacker who founded the electronic whistleblowers' platform WikiLeaks, vanished when a young US intelligence analyst in Baghdad was arrested. The analyst, Bradley Manning, had bragged he had sent 260,000 incendiary US state department cables on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to WikiLeaks. The prospect of the cache of classified intelligence on the US conduct of the two wars being put online is a nightmare for Washington. The sensitivity of the information has generated media reports that Assange is the target of a US manhunt. Assange told the Guardian in Brussels, "Politically it would be a great error for them to act. I feel perfectly safe but I have been advised by my lawyers not to travel to the US during this period." Assange appeared in public in Brussels for the first time in almost a month to speak at a seminar on freedom of information at the European parliament.
WikiLeaks founder drops 'mass spying' hint (June 22, 2010) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/22/2933892.htm
WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has given his strongest indication yet about the next big leak from his whistleblower organisation. In an interview with the ABC's Foreign Correspondent, Mr Assange said cryptically of WikiLeaks' current project: "I can give an analogy. If there had been mass spying that had affected many, many people and organisations and the details of that mass spying were released then that is something that would reveal that the interests of many people had been abused." He agreed it would be of the "calibre" of publishing information about the way the top secret Echelon system - the US-UK electronic spying network which eavesdrops on worldwide communications traffic - had been used. Mr Assange also confirmed that WikiLeaks has a copy of a video showing a US military bombing of a western Afghan township which killed dozens of people, including children. During the course of the past month, Mr Assange has been talking to [ABC's] Foreign Correspondent for [an upcoming] program examining the efficacy of the WikiLeaks model. "What we want to create is a system where there is guaranteed free press across the world, the entire world, that every individual in the world has the ability to publish materials that is meaningful," he said.
Fears for life of Wikileaks founder (June 18, 2010) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/18/2930898.htm
Julian Assange, the Australian-born founder of Wikileaks, is said to be under threat with reports that the site has hundreds of thousands of classified cables containing explosive revelations. Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked Pentagon papers in the 1970s showing government deceit over the Vietnam War, says he believes Mr Assange has reason to keep his whereabouts secret. "I think he would not be safe, even physically, entirely wherever he is. We have ... for the first time ever ... in any democratic country ... a president who has announced that he feels he has the right to use special operations operatives against anyone abroad that he thinks is associated with terrorism." As far fetched as Mr Ellsberg's claim sounds, the national president of Whistleblowers Australia, Peter Bennett, agrees Mr Assange's life may be at risk. "There is a lot of money to be made from wars. There is a lot of people who will become very, very wealthy through the course of this Afghan war," he said. "To stop anybody raising questions about its conduct would put those profits at risk and profit is a high motivation to stop somebody interfering with those profits. There is a serious chance that his wellbeing could be at risk." Check also Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has passport confiscated and the related development below...
The Icelandic Parliament [official website, in Icelandic] on Wednesday voted 50-0 [vote count, in Icelandic] to pass sweeping media reform laws aimed at increasing protections for journalists and promoting freedom of speech and transparency in government. The Icelandic Modern Media Initiative (IMMI) [materials] was developed by lawmakers in conjunction with Wikileaks [advocacy website], a non-profit website focused on exposing corruption and unethical actions by governments and corporations. The measures were developed partially in response to Iceland's 2008 economic crisis [ BBC backgrounder], where a close relationship between the government and the media has been blamed for a lack of warning about the impending crisis. Provisions in the bill include protection for anonymous sources, and protections against censorship and "libel tourism," and it is being touted as the strongest media protection law [Independent report] in any country. Iceland hopes that provisions in the new law prohibiting enforcement of judgments from other countries that violate the IMMI will encourage foreign news services to move their publication services to Iceland . Minor changes were made to the original draft of the bill [JURIST report] which was released in February, including adding additional responsibilities for the government [text, in Icelandic]. Under the final bill the government must perform a detailed analysis of the security surrounding data centers and they must also host an international conference to discuss the legal implications of increased Internet news reporting. Iceland has historically been viewed as a country with strong protections for freedom of the press. That reputation took a hit in 2009, following the economic crisis, when it fell to ninth in the annual Worldwide Index of Freedom [press release] released by Reporters Without Borders (RWB) [advocacy website, in French]. Iceland had been ranked first in 2007 and 2008, and second in 2006 [JURIST reports]. - More on this through WikiLeaks proposal for new media haven passed by Icelandic parliament
Outsourcing Security: Defense Manufacturing Goes the Way of the Automobile (29 June 2010) http://www.truth-out.org/outsourcing-security-defense-manufacturing-goes-way-automobile60818
From the microchips that fly F-16s and activate nuclear warheads, all the way down to the lowly (but deadly) bullet, more and more US military weapons are being made overseas by foreigners. Some experts say that outsourcing defense contracts not only costs Americans jobs and America's connection to the war, but one of the nation's most essential assets, as well: its security. According to William R. Hawkins, a defense expert on military contracting and former Republican Party staffer, foreigners have been manufacturing critical and sophisticated components of US weaponry for nearly 20 years now.He says the Pentagon started outsourcing the manufacturing of "high-end" computer chips to Taiwan in the early 1990s - microchips used in US fighter jets and missile defense systems, for instance. Over time, the Taiwanese have "second-sourced" most of these contracts to the Chinese, he says."Can we trust buying [high-end] chips from China for our military systems? Will they perform as well?" asks Hawkins. "We have found Chinese chips do not perform as well. They've also found counterfeit chips in the supply chain. Can we be sure the Chinese won't plant Trojans or bugs in them?" Indeed, on June 13th on 60 Minutes, Jim Gosler, an expert on cyberwarfare, said the US government has uncovered sabotaged microchips within some of the nation's most powerful weapons. "It's very clear that a foreign intelligence service put them there," he added. RBS tells clients to prepare for 'monster' money-printing by the Federal Reserve (27 Jun 2010) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/ambroseevans_pritchard/7857595/RBS-tells-clients-to-prepare-for-monster-money-printing-by-the-Federal-Reserve.html
As recovery starts to stall in the US and Europe with echoes of mid-1931, bond experts are once again dusting off a speech by Ben Bernanke given eight years ago as a freshman governor at the Federal Reserve. -- Entitled "Deflation: Making Sure It Doesn't Happen Here", it is a warfare manual for defeating economic slumps by use of extreme monetary stimulus once interest rates have dropped to zero, and implicitly once governments have spent themselves to near bankruptcy. The speech is best known for its irreverent one-liner: "The US government has a technology, called a printing press, that allows it to produce as many US dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost." Bernanke began putting the script into action after the credit system seized up in 2008, purchasing $1.75 trillion of Treasuries, mortgage securities, and agency bonds to shore up the US credit system. He stopped far short of the $5 trillion balance sheet quietly pencilled in by the Fed Board as the upper limit for quantitative easing (QE). Investors basking in Wall Street's V-shaped rally had assumed that this bizarre episode was over. So did the Fed, which has been shutting liquidity spigots one by one. But the latest batch of data is disturbing. The ECRI leading indicator produced by the Economic Cycle Research Institute plummeted yet again last week to -6.9, pointing to contraction in the US by the end of the year. It is dropping faster that at any time in the post-War era.The latest data from the CPB Netherlands Bureau shows that world trade slid 1.7pc in May, with the biggest fall in Asia. Can Israel Learn How to Make Its Case? (June 21, 2010) http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1995850,00.html
(...) That sentiment comes pretty close to summing up the Marmara affair as it was understood by much of the globe and a few worldly Israelis. Besides fracturing the Jewish state's relations with Turkey, its most important Muslim ally, and undermining a nascent rapprochement with the Obama Administration in Washington, its most important ally of all, the flotilla fiasco also invited fresh judgment of the kind of democracy Israel has become: a conspicuously belligerent one, reflexively disposed toward the military option whatever the problem at hand - and apt to look bad doing it. The name-calling comes later. "The qualities that once typified Israel and its leadership - freshness, originality, creativity" - have not been in evidence for some time, lamented David Grossman, the country's leading novelist. In their stead: "Clumsy and calcified policy, which again and again resorts by default to the use of massive and exaggerated force, at every decisive juncture, where wisdom and sensitivity and creative thinking are called for instead." Given those instincts, Grossman wrote in the Guardian, the Turks spoiling for a fight on the top deck of the Marmara had an advantage in the knowledge that "Israel is destined and compelled, like a puppet on a string, to react the way it did." In large measure, however, this is not the story Israel was telling itself. Much more typical was a headline in Israel's largest daily, Yedioth Ahronoth: "The world is attacking, we are saluting." The population overwhelmingly embraced the elite team that fast-roped to the boat.
(...) "On the one hand, there's an automatic reaction to criticism from the world, which is the Holocaust syndrome of collective victimhood, a kind of posttraumatic mental condition," argues Yaron Ezrahi, a political scientist at Hebrew University. To that special sensitivity add the posture of a right-wing government elected partly in reaction to world criticism of Israel's Gaza offensive that began in late 2008, the inflammatory rhetoric of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and a few words from veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas to the effect that Israelis should return to Poland and Germany.
(...) The occupation of the West Bank - now 43 years old - has corroded everything it touches, not least Israel's image. Indie rockers the Pixies canceled their Tel Aviv show after the Mavi Marmara incident, following earlier cancellations by rocker Elvis Costello and soul-jazz musician Gil Scott-Heron, a veteran of the cultural boycott against apartheid South Africa. In global liberal circles, the sense that there is a moral equivalency between the apartheid regime and Israel is gaining ground.
(...) the coalition government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still seems ham-fisted in the way it presents Israel's case to the world. Last month the only Western-style democracy in the Middle East denied entry to Noam Chomsky, the left-wing MIT professor. Ejected a few days earlier: Ivan Prado, the most famous clown in Spain. Human-rights organizations, paying a price for their reporting on the Gaza war, are battling legislation they say will impose onerous new rules intended to stifle dissent. The stuttering official response to the flotilla fiasco flowed from the same well of misgiving. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at one point claimed al-Qaeda was on board. Among the many videos featuring radio traffic that the IDF posted online, the most obviously inflammatory - in which a voice, allegedly from a flotilla radio transmission, can be heard snarling, "Go back to Auschwitz" - was no less obviously edited. "PR amateurs," sneered a Yedioth columnist lambasting a message effort in disarray. CLIP - MAKE SURE TO READ Israel: Rogue Terrrorist State Marching on a Fast Track to Hell BELOW...
Israel fleet raid probe Head threatens to resign (30 June 2010) http://afpakwar.com/blog/archives/5923
JERUSALEM: The head of an Israeli commission set up to investigate a deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla threatened to resign unless the probe is given wider powers, Israeli TV said on Tuesday. Yaakov Tirkel, a retired Supreme Court judge, told Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman that he would leave the post if his demands were not met, the private Channel Two network reported. He called for the independent public commission, whose work officially started on Monday, to become a government commission of inquiry with the power to recommend sanctions against political and military leaders. Tirkel also sought two assistants for the three members and two foreign observers that make up the panel, the report said, adding that the judge agreed to put off his resignation until cabinet considered the changes on Sunday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday evening that the cabinet was ready to extend the commissions mandate, according to a spokesman. CLIP

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A coalition of international Jewish organizations sympathetic to the Palestinians will send a flotilla to Gaza to try to break Israel's blockade of the Hamas-run strip. The "Jewish Boat to Gaza" will sail next month from an undisclosed location carrying passengers from the United States, Germany and Britain. At least one passenger is reported to be a Holocaust survivor.American Jews for a Just Peace announced last week that it will serve as the U.S. coordinator for the Jewish boat. The other groups participating in the flotilla include "Judische Stimme" ("Jewish Voice" for a Just Peace in the Near East) and Jews for Justice for Palestinians, a British organization.Glyn Secker, a British Jew and a longtime activist, will serve as captain. No weapons will be on board, according to the American Jews for a Just Peace website."Organizers are requesting that the Israeli government, the British government, the German government and the Obama Administration guarantee safe passage for the boat, its passengers and cargo," according to the announcement. The boat will take schoolbags and books, donated by German schoolchildren; musical instruments and art materials for the Gaza Community Mental Health Program; nets and tackle for fishermen; and medicines and small medical equipment.According to the website, the principles of the mission are "To protest against and challenge the blockade of Gaza"; "to protest against Israel's continuing occupation and settlement of Palestinian land, and the Israeli government's self-evident intention of annexing much of that land"; and "to make clear that the current policies of Israel are not representative of all Jews and that there are thousands of us who wish to say 'Not in our name.' In violation of Medical Ethics and International Law: Israel Restricts the Access of Gaza Patients to Urgent Medical Treatment if their Condition is Not Life-Threatening (29 June, 2010) http://www.phr.org.il/default.asp?PageID=190&ItemID=755
A new position paper by three human rights organizations, Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-IL), Al-Mezan and Adalah, reviews Israels exit policy at the Erez Crossing regarding Gaza patients seeking medical treatment unavailable in Gaza. The paper argues that there is a consistent Israeli policy of distinguishing between life-threatening cases and cases that affect quality of life, as a basis to deny their exit from the Strip for medical treatment, which violates the principles of medical ethics and international law. This conclusion is based on an analysis of Israels rejections of applications submitted by Gaza patients during 2009, which found a strong correlation between cases considered life-threatening and permit approval rates. It should be stressed that cases which are not defined as life-threatening, and which were denied by Israel, can still be clinically urgent: this includes, for example, conditions that can lead to the loss of limbs, organs, or eyesight. The organizations argue that Israel must allow every patient requiring medical treatment that is unavailable in Gaza access to treatment outside the Strip without delay. The Battle for Global HealthHope in the long battle against malaria (June 10, 2010) http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1995199_1995197_1995176,00.html
(...) The history of malaria is a long one. Originating in West Africa, it spread to half of humankind by the mid-19th century and has killed tens of millions and infected hundreds of millions more, including eight American Presidents. Malaria played a role in stopping Alexander the Great in India. It contributed to the fall of Rome, the relocation of the Vatican and the U.S. defeat in Vietnam. It still rages in the poverty-stricken world: it killed 863,000 people in 2008 - 89% of them African, and 88% of those people children under 5 - and infected 243 million more, says the World Health Organization (WHO). The lobbying group Malaria No More reckons that the disease costs Africa $12 billion a year - 1.3% of its economic growth. Fixing that would be the biggest boost to health and development in history. It would also be a stunning riposte to aid's critics. It could happen. A previous campaign against malaria in the 1950s and '60s effectively eliminated the disease in Europe and the U.S. but made little progress in Africa and Asia, in part because health officials concluded that those places were simply too tough to fix. This time things are different. Now more than ever, it's unacceptable - indeed, immoral - to see Africa and Asia as beyond help. Today's funding is unprecedented, exceeding $10 billion. So is the leadership, from the U.S. President to the Sultan of Nigeria to soccer star David Beckham. Their goal is threefold: universal protection by the end of 2010 via the distribution of 700 million insecticide-treated bed nets; no more malaria deaths by the end of 2015; no malaria at all a decade or two after that. Animals in southern Iceland are at risk of fluoride poisoning if they inhale or ingest the ash from the recent volcanic eruption. Fluoride poisoning can lead to internal bleeding, long-term bone damage and tooth loss.According to BBC News:The fluoride in the ash creates acid in the animals' stomachs, corroding the intestines and causing hemorrhages. It also binds with calcium in the bloodstream and after heavy exposure over a period of days makes bones frail, even causing teeth to crumble. Many may see this story and never connect the dots between the tragic poisoning of these animals due to a natural event, and the intentional poisoning of human beings through excessive fluoride exposure each and every day. This story is another clue that just because something exists in nature doesn't necessarily mean it is good for you. And this is certainly true for the seriously misguided use of fluoride to prevent dental cavities. The practice of adding fluoride to your tap water began in 1945. With more than 60 percent of U.S. water supplies currently fluoridated, chances are youre one of the 170 million Americans who drink fluoride on a daily basis. Most likely, your dentist along with countless government and public health officials -- has praised and promoted the use of fluoride, both in toothpaste and drinking water, as one of your must-do regimens to promote strong and healthy teeth.Unfortunately, theyve all bought the public deception, and have unwittingly participated in and perpetuated perhaps one of the grandest public health frauds and toxic cover-ups in U.S. history.Fluoride A Historically Known Toxin CLIP

THE U. S. EPA IS WASTING VALUABLE TIME -- Both FAN and Dr. Kathleen Thiessen have expressed their frustration with the way that the EPA's Office of Drinking Water continues to drag its feet on its task of establishing a new drinking water standard for fluoride. The level set in 1986 at the ridiculously high level of 4 ppm was deemed unprotective of health in March 2006 by the National Research Council (1), who recommended that the EPA perform a health risk assessment to establish a new MCLG (maximum contaminant level goal). Even though it was the EPA that requested and paid for the NRC review, and the NRC did all the heavy lifting needed to perform that risk assessment, the EPA has published nothing in over 4 years. EPA scientists haven't even got to the stage of sending out their calculations for peer review! Is there no one in the US who is prepared to tell the EPA to do its job? CLIP
Tuna's End (June 21, 2010) http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/27/magazine/27Tuna-t.html
In the international waters south of Malta, the Greenpeace vessels Rainbow Warrior and Arctic Sunrise deployed eight inflatable Zodiacs and skiffs into the azure surface of the Mediterranean. Protesters aboard donned helmets and took up DayGlo flags and plywood shields. With the organization's observation helicopter hovering above, the pilots of the tiny boats hit their throttles, hurtling the fleet forward to stop what they viewed as an egregious environmental crime. It was a high-octane updating of a familiar tableau, one that anyone who has followed Greenpeace's Save the Whales adventures of the last 35 years would have recognized. But in the waters off Malta there was not a whale to be seen. What was in the water that day was a congregation of Atlantic bluefin tuna, a fish that when prepared as sushi is one of the most valuable forms of seafood in the world. It's also a fish that regularly journeys between America and Europe and whose two populations, or "stocks," have both been catastrophically overexploited. The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, one of only two known Atlantic bluefin spawning grounds, has only intensified the crisis. By some estimates, there may be only 9,000 of the most ecologically vital megabreeders left in the fish's North American stock, enough for the entire population of New York to have a final bite (or two) of high-grade otoro sushi. The Mediterranean stock of bluefin, historically a larger population than the North American one, has declined drastically as well. Indeed, most Mediterranean bluefin fishing consists of netting or "seining" young wild fish for "outgrowing" on tuna "ranches." Which was why the Greenpeace craft had just deployed off Malta: a French fishing boat was about to legally catch an entire school of tuna, many of them undoubtedly juveniles.
(...) SEAFOOD. HOW MANY species suffer those two mean English syllables? Other languages are no kinder. Romance European cultures use the expression "sea fruit," while Slavs say "sea gifts." So-called vegetarians rue the killing of farmed terrestrial animals but regularly eat wild fish. Kosher laws mandating merciful animal slaughter don't apply to fish. These thoughts were in my head recently when I got perhaps my last look at a wild bluefin tuna, just a month before the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded and collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico. I was 20-odd miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C., aboard the Sensation, a vessel chartered by the Tag-a-Giant Foundation, a nonprofit organization trying to decode the complex migration patterns of the bluefin and help lay the scientific foundation for the fish's protection. Tag-a-Giant had been fishing for a couple days, and many people had sat in the fighting chair I now occupied, reeling in tuna after tuna. But for me this was a first. I had never caught a bluefin before. In the past I would have wanted to savor the fight, to do battle with the fish with lighter, more "sporting" tackle. But considering everything I'd learned about tuna, humans and the chances of the great fish's survival, it suddenly seemed infinitely more appropriate to fight this tuna with the full expression of humanity's power. For in the end tuna are no match for us. We have in this final phase of exploitation achieved dominion over the entirety of the watery world, from inland lakes and rivers to the littoral zone to the continental shelf out to the abyssof the high seas. Sitting in the huge fighting chair with the huge rod and reel, in the well of the huge sportfishing vessel, it was inescapably apparent who had the edge. As my bluefin breached, one of the scientists opened a door at the stern of the boat. A blue vinyl mat was laid down on the deck. The fish came through the door, still "hot," banging its tail excitedly. But in an instant a biologist named Andre Boustany placed a moist cover over the tuna's giant eye and a hydration hose in its mouth. The tuna motor mellowed, and at last the fish was beatifically still. "Do you want to tag him?" Boustany asked me.I took the sharp four-inch needle from his hand and positioned it just behind the fish's dorsal fin. Pricking the skin slightly I started to pull my hand away."No," Boustany said, "you gotta really stick it in there."Applying more pressure, I felt the needle slide into the flank, felt the resistance of the dense sushi flesh, raw and red and most certainly delicious. But for the first time in my life I felt tuna flesh for what it was: a living, perfect expression of a miraculous adaptation. An adaptation that allows bluefin to cross oceans at the speed of a battleship. An adaptation that should be savored in its own right as the most miraculous engine of a most miraculous animal, not as food. Perhaps people will never come to feel about a tuna the way they have come to feel about whales. Whales are, after all, mammals: they have large brains; they nurse their young and breed slowly. All of that ensconces them in a kind of empathic cocoon, the warmth of which even the warmest-blooded tuna may never occupy. But what we can perhaps be persuaded to feel, viscerally, is that industrial fishing as it is practiced today against the bluefin and indeed against all the world's great fish, the very tigers and lions of our era, is an act unbefitting our sentience. An act as pointless, small-minded and shortsighted as launching a harpoon into the flank of a whale.

What if We Can't Stop the BP Oil Leak? The Nightmare Scenario
What's the worst case scenario for the BP oil spill? How about the horrifying possibility of leaks in the pipe below the sea floorleaks that could open up a "gusher... directly into the oil deposit"?
A comment from well-regarded energy policy website The Oil Drum has been making the rounds, outlining a scenario as terrifying as it is bleak: That the Deepwater Horizon rig's problems extend below the sea floor, where one or more leaks are currently weakening the seabed foundation in a way that could cause an inextinguishable "wide open gusher blowing out 150,000 barrels a day of raw oil or more."
The lengthy, extensively sourced and cited post, by commenter "dougr" (who isn't officially affiliated with The Oil Drum), is located here. It's the scariest thing you'll read today. Presenting himself as a "fairly knowledgeable" person, dougr works from BP's efforts to stem the leak to make a case for, essentially, a coverup of the well's true problems, perpetrated by BP and the government. Collecting quotations from BP officials and descriptions of their actions, which he says "make no sense," he comes to "one inescapabale conclusion... The well pipes below the sea floor are broken and leaking."
If that's true, what would it mean? For starters, that a "cap" won't work, as it will transfer pressure to the "down hole" (i.e., below the sea floor) leaks. But even worse, writes dougr.
This down hole leak will undermine the foundation of the seabed in and around the well area. It also weakens the only thing holding up the massive Blow Out Preventer's immense bulk of 450 tons....
When enough is eroded away the casings will buckle and the BOP [blowout preventer] will collapse the well. If and when you begin to see oil and gas coming up around the well area from under the BOP? or the area around the well head connection and casing sinking more and more rapidly? ...it won't be too long after that the entire system fails...
All of these things lead to only one place, a fully wide open well bore directly to the oil deposit...after that, it goes into the realm of "the worst things you can think of"... [...] the very least damaging outcome as bad as it is, is that we are stuck with a wide open gusher blowing out 150,000 barrels a day of raw oil or more
It's a race now...a race to drill the relief wells and take our last chance at killing this monster before the whole weakened, wore out, blown out, leaking and failing system gives up it's last gasp in a horrific crescendo.
Not pleasant, huh? Of course, this all comes with a massive caveat: "dougr" is just a guy on a message board (and one who may have connections to far-out conspiracy sites, at that). For all his citations and sources, there's no indication he knows what he's talking about (and just because it makes sense to the layperson doesn't make it true). Sharon Astyk of Science Blogs makes the case for taking it "a little seriously":
For those who think it is strange that I be highlighting a comment in a thread, I should note that TOD attracts many, many petroleum geologists and other professionals, and while sometimes the comments are the same "pulled it out of my ass" as on every other website, often, the technical knowledge on offer is pretty astounding. This one passes my smell test, which is usually pretty good - that doesn't mean I claim commenter Doug R is right - it means I think his information is interesting enough to be worth exposing to a wider audience for clarification or correction.
Let's hope we get some correction.
The Oil Spill's Worst-Case Scenario? http://disc.yourwebapps.com/discussion.cgi?disc=149495;article=130937;
Efforts to stop the flow may have set the stage for an even bigger catastrophe. (...) It's possible that hydrocarbons are leaking out the bottom or sides of the well. If so, they might erode surrounding sediments and undermine the foundation upon which the 450-ton blowout preventer sits. If such leaks arent sealed off in time, the entire structure could topple over. After that, it goes into the realm of the worst things you can think of, writes a commenter on the oil- and energy-focused website The Oil Drum. It was this commenter's post that has become the subject of wider speculation. The well may come completely apart as the inner liners fail. There is still a very long drill string in the well that could literally come flying out at the very least we are stuck with a wide open gusher blowing out 150,000 barrels a day of raw oil or more. This comment has since spread online, causing widespread fear and speculation.
(...) When it was digging this particular well, the company ran out of casingthe pipe that engineers send down the holeand switched to a less durable material called liner. This may have created several weak spots along the well that would be particularly vulnerable to excessive pressure or erosion. So instead of sealing the well, the company has been focused on trying to capture the oil as it flows out the top. At this point, some experts say, additional leaks wouldnt matter much. Its very possible that there are subfloor leaks, says Anderson. But that doesnt change the strategy moving forward. The linchpin of that strategy involves drilling relief wells that would absorb all possible leaks, both at the top and the bottom of the hulking, teetering structure. Relief wells are drilled straight down into the sea bottom. After running parallel to the existing well for a few thousand meters, they cut in and intersect the original well bore. BP is drilling two such wells, one on either side of the main well. Once they are complete, the company will use them to pump heavy fluid and cement into the main well, stopping the oil at its source. The approach usually has a 95 percent success rate. But to work, the well must be sealed as far down as possibleif its sealed too high, oil could still escape through any leaks beneath the seal. In this case, relief wells will have to drill down to 5,500 meters, and that takes time, at least until August. The real question now is whether the entire structure can hold out long enough.
Deepwater Oil Spill - A Longer Term Problem, Personnel - and Open Thread 2 (June 13, 2010) http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6593/648967
(...) We can only hope the race against that eventuality is one we can win, but my assessment I am sad to say is that we will not. The system will collapse or fail substantially before we reach the finish line ahead of the well and the worst is yet to come. Sorry to bring you that news, I know it is grim, but that is the way I see it....I sincerely hope I am wrong. We need to prepare for the possibility of this blow out sending more oil into the gulf per week then what we already have now, because that is what a collapse of the system will cause. All the collection efforts that have captured oil will be erased in short order. The magnitude of this disaster will increase exponentially by the time we can do anything to halt it and our odds of actually even being able to halt it will go down. The magnitude and impact of this disaster will eclipse anything we have known in our life times if the worst or even near worst happens... We are seeing the puny forces of man vs the awesome forces of nature. We are going to need some luck and a lot of effort to win...and if nature decides we ought to lose, we will....
BP's Deepwater Oil Spill - Response to DougR's Concerns http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6655#more
In this post, I would like to respond to a long comment made by DougR a few days ago, that has received a lot of publicity. First, I will say that in one area we are in complete agreement. BP and the USCG have been less than forthcoming, and in doing so have hurt both themselves and the general public as all kinds of wild rumors and technical misinformation abound. Some of this misinformation results in harm to individuals and businesses as people suffer increased stress and tourists cancel vacations. In this information vacuum it is easy to make wrong assumptions that lead to mistaken conclusions. It can be made worse if you have some degree of technical knowledge and verbiage and use that to make a case for a scenario that doesnt pass muster with actual engineering analysis but sounds highly authoritative to many people, some TV commentators and various politicians. Could Secret Saudi Spill Hold Fix for Gulf Slick? (May 14, 2010) http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/could-cleanup-fix-for-gulf-oil-spill-lie-in-secret-saudi-disaster/19476863
Even as proposals pour in for cleaning up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, one veteran of a massive (and secret) crude spill in the Persian Gulf says he has a tried-and-true solution. Now if only the people who could make it happen would return his calls. "No one's listening," says Nick Pozzi, who was an engineer with Saudi Aramco in the Middle East when he says an accident there in 1993 generated a spill far larger than anything the United States has ever seen. According to Pozzi, that mishap, kept under wraps for close to two decades and first reported by Esquire, dumped nearly 800 million gallons of oil into the Persian Gulf, which would make it more than 70 times the size of the Exxon Valdez spill. But remarkably, by employing a fleet of empty supertankers to suck crude off the water's surface, Pozzi's team was not only able to clean up the spill, but also salvage 85 percent of the oil, he says. "We took [the oil] out of the water so it would save the environment off the Arabian Gulf, and then we put it into tanks until we could figure out how to clean it," he told AOL News. While BP, the oil giant at the center of the recent accident, works to stanch the leak from the sunken Deepwater Horizon rig, Pozzi insists the company should be following his lead. Gulf oil spill: Could 'toxic storm' make beach towns uninhabitable? (June 26, 2010) http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2010/0626/Gulf-oil-spill-Could-toxic-storm-make-beach-towns-uninhabitable
Residents fear mass relocations should a hurricane kick the Gulf oil spill onto resort towns. Hazmat cards are a hot commodity among residents, since they could be the key to return. -- Ron Greve expects the worst is yet to come in the oil spill drama that is haranguing beach towns all along the US Gulf Coast. So, like a growing number of residents, the Pensacola Beach solar-cell salesman took a hazardous materials class and received a hazmat card upon graduation. Those cards, says Mr. Greve, could become critical in coming weeks and months. In the case of a hurricane hitting the 250-mile wide slick and pushing it over sand dunes and into beach towns, residents fear theyll face not only mass evacuations, but potential permanent relocation.Storm-wizened locals know that it can take days, even weeks, for roads to open and authorities to allow residents to return to inspect the damage and start to rebuild after a hurricane moves through. In the case of a toxic storm, only residents with hazmat cards would be allowed to cross bridges to return home, Greve says, since toxicity risks would be too high for untrained residents.Youd have to have these cards to be able to return, says Mr. Greve. In these classes, they basically tell you that swallowing even a small amount of the oil or getting some on your hands and then having a smoke could be deadly.Fears about ecological damage have dominated concerns around the spill, which began when the Deepwater Horizon rig, leased by BP, exploded on April 20, killing 11 people. The rig sank two days later and oil began rushing into the open Gulf. But if a Gulf hurricane whips the toxic rusty mousse hovering offshore onto land, the impact on human communities and health could become a focal point. At the very least, return for residents could take much longer, potentially forcing dissolution, residents fear, of entire island, bay and river communities along the densely populated Gulf Coast. That scenario is part of whats driving frustration among many local officials on the Gulf, who want a more concerted and ramped-up skimming effort by the BP-Coast Guard Unified Command in New Orleans.A super-tanker skimmer known as the A Whale, capable of collecting 500,000 barrels of oily water a day, is en route to the Gulf, but its owners have not been assured that it can join the surface clean-up effort. Some members of Congress have criticized the administration for not moving faster to ask for international skimming fleets to help corral more of the slick. Senator LeMieux on BP spill - CANNOT BE CLEARER THAT THE OBUSHMA ADMINISTRATION WANTS THE GULF OF MEXICO COMPLETELY DESTROYED http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyyL50dFkMc
There are over 2,000 oil skimmers available in the U.S. to clean up the oil in the Gulf, and Washington, D.C. (Obama) has allotted just 20 of them to the Gulf of Mexico. When asked why only 20 by Senator LeMieux, Obama told him that there may be another oil leak somewhere else and they will be needed there!!!!!!!!! 21 offers of assistance from 17 countries have been denied!!!! Plus stupide que ça tu meurs!
BP oil clean-up efforts disrupted by 12-foot waves (June 30, 2010) http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/30/gulf.oil.disaster/index.html
New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) -- BP's efforts to contain the largest oil spill in U.S. history are being disrupted by towering waves reaching up to 12 feet in height, company officials said. Even though Hurricane Alex -- which was upgraded from tropical storm status late Tuesday night -- is headed away from the area affected by the oil spill, its winds and the waves the storm is producing are forcing BP officials to send oil skimming ships back to shore, from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. High tide and rough sea conditions are also restricting onshore personnel clean-up duties Wednesday morning, according to Charles Taplin, a spokesman at the Unified Command Joint Information Center in Houma, Louisiana. Also under consideration is whether to continue the use of aerial dispersants while the storm is affecting the region, Taplin said. BP has two vessels, the Discoverer Enterprise and the Q4000, that were being used to contain oil. The company was hoping to bring in a third Tuesday called the Helix Producer, which would increase containment by 20,000 to 25,000 more barrels per day. The arrival of the new vessel would have to be delayed until perhaps July 6 or 7 because of choppy sea conditions, said Mark Proegler, a spokesman for BP. CLIP
The Gulf Disaster: Whose Asses Need Kicking? (June 10, 2010)
COMPREHENSIVE BUT WITH CONSERVATIVE ESTIMATES OF THE DAMAGES DONE! http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1995618,00.html
(...) Given the enormous amount of influence the oil and gas industry has - it spent $174.8 million on lobbying last year, according to the Center for Responsive Politics - Obama, if he really wants to break that circle, will need to make it a major priority and institutionalize oversight so that it will outlast his Administration. More than that, he'll need to make the case to Americans that smart and aggressive regulation of drilling isn't an obstacle to maintaining a successful energy industry but a prerequisite. That would buck the general trend of deregulation that goes back years, well before George W. Bush and Dick Cheney began turning a portion of the Interior Department into an annex of the American Petroleum Institute. Part of the challenge will be not just political but technical. Frontier-pushing oil companies have rapidly expanded their ability to drill deep wells, racing far ahead of the government's ability to keep track of what they're doing. The same thing happened in the financial sector, as increasingly exotic financial instruments flummoxed even the experts who were supposed to determine their soundness. "The fact is that technology on drilling has outpaced our ability to deal with the problems that can come with that technology," says Tyson Slocum, director of watchdog Public Citizen's energy program. Of course, no offshore-drilling program will ever be spillproof, but there are smart and noncontroversial steps that can be taken now to prepare for the next accident. We need to invest in developing cutting-edge cleanup technologies - like microbes that can eat oil - so that we have more options than shoreline boom and in situ burns. Oil companies should be required to keep more well-killing equipment on hand, so we don't have to wait for them to build a containment dome from scratch, as BP did. And the government must have its own remotely operated undersea vehicles so that it can independently gather information on the next blown well rather than being forced to rely on the industry. Otherwise, as film director James Cameron put it recently, the government is effectively "asking the perpetrator to give you the video of the crime scene." And then there's the rest of us. Of course, it's our appetite for gas - cheap gas - that provides the hundreds of millions of dollars oil companies keep spending to drill offshore and the billions they make in profit. We buy gas-guzzling cars, resist the use of public transportation and howl at the idea of carbon taxes or other measures that would bankroll research into alternative energy sources and make them competitive once they reach the market. We accept the business argument that regulation is an evil that isn't necessary, rather than a necessary evil, and then we're surprised when a rig blows and disaster ensues. Well, what did we expect? "The American public expects safety to happen by magic and without pain," says Berkeley's Robert Bea. "There's plenty of blame to go around." We've been warned - now we have to learn.
The Coming Gulf Coast Firestorm: How the BP oil catastrophe could destroy a major U.S. city
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger -- June 26, 2010
(NaturalNews) It's hurricane season in the Atlantic, and that means Mother Nature could be whipping up fierce storms and sending them charging into the Gulf Coast any day now. In a normal hurricane season, that's bad enough all by itself... remember Katrina? But now there's something even more worrisome in the recipe: There's oil in the water.
So what happens when a Katrina-class hurricane comes along and picks up a few million gallons of oil, then drops that volatile liquid on a major U.S. city like Galveston or New Orleans?
Now, before we pursue this line of thinking any further, let's dismiss the skeptics out there who think oil can't drop from the sky because oil doesn't evaporate. Actually, if you look at the history of hurricanes and storms, you'll find thousands of accounts of lots of things that don't evaporate nonetheless falling out of the sky. The phrase "raining cats and dogs" it's entirely metaphor, you know: There are documented accounts of all sorts of things raining down from the sky: Fish, frogs, large balls of ice, and so on.
If rain storms can pick up fish out of the ocean, then drop them on land, then they certainly have the capacity to pick up oil, too.
Besides, as any chemist will tell you, the various petrochemicals found in crude oil evaporate even without a storm picking them up! Oil, in other words, does evaporate into the air. Or, more accurately, some of the lighter chemicals in crude oil evaporate even at temperatures of around 100 degrees (F). Those are Gulf Coast temperatures.
These chemicals burn
Now, these lighter chemicals that more easily evaporate also happen to have lower flash points, meaning they catch on fire more easily and at lower temperatures than other elements in the oil. The flash point for gasoline, for example, is much lower than diesel fuel. That's because gasoline is "more flammable" and is a lighter fuel than diesel.
"These oils are highly fluid, often clear, spread rapidly on solid or water surfaces, have a strong odor, a high evaporation rate, and are usually flammable. They penetrate porous surfaces such as dirt and sand, and may be persistent in such a matrix."
That same EPA document makes it quite clear that the more volatile oils can evaporate from crude oil, rendering the remaining oil heavier and more "tar-like."
And we already know these oils can catch on fire. That's the whole point of tapping crude oil, of course: To pump it into engines then catch it on fire in order to turn the energy of that mini-explosion into force (to drive the eight pistons in your gas-guzzling SUV, for example).
How the fire happens
So let's say the oil blowout continues, and the Gulf of Mexico is carrying millions of gallons of crude oil as a massive hurricane approaches. It's a hot July day in the Gulf of Mexico, with temperatures soaring towards 110 degrees, accelerating the evaporation of volatile oils which get mixed in with hurricane-force winds.
The hurricane makes landfall in New Orleans, let's say, dumping potentially hundreds of thousands of gallons of what is essentially "volatile fuel" on the city of New Orleans. Now, at first it's just a wet, slippery toxic mess that kills trees and grass. But what happens after the storm when the sun dries out the city?
All the dead trees killed by the oil turn into kindling. The sun evaporates off the rain water, leaving behind fuel. A few days of sun baking and you have a city doused in fuel, ready to burst into flames. It's every fireman's worst nightmare. The whole city is essentially turned into a giant match.
Now, sure, the more volatile fuels might evaporate, but as they do, they'd fill the city with explosive fumes. One spark, one fire, one lightning strike and your whole city literally goes up in flames. The BP oil spill, in other words, provides the fuel that could turn an ordinary hurricane into Mother Nature's arson attack on an entire city.
Like a nuclear bomb
This would not be an ordinary city on fire, either: It would be a city doused with volatile fuels that soaked it to the core. The sewers would explode like massive terrorist bombs, ripping to shred any underground infrastructure (fiber optics, water delivery, electrical infrastructure, etc.). The pavement itself would be on fire, as would parks, grasslands and forests. The city would burn from top to bottom, and there would be no point even trying to put out the flames. All we could do is evacuate and watch it all burn to the ground.
And in the aftermath, you'd still have oil covering the beaches, oil in the ocean, and the threat of more firestorms yet to come. It could be just the first of many such incidents striking the Gulf Coast.
Think this couldn't happen? Sure, and BP said the oil was a "tiny" little leak that didn't matter, either. They said the oil rigs would never explode. They said they would cap the blowout. They said they would protect the shores. And all along the problem just got worse and worse until even the press noticed that these corporate criminals just couldn't stop lying.
Now, BP is at least $20 billion in the hole in an effort to compensate some of the Gulf Coast businesses for the damage they've caused. But how will they compensate people if an entire city burns to the ground?
The answer? They won't. That would be the end of BP. Immediately bankruptcy. B.P. = "Bankruptcy Protection," after all.
No more payments go out to anyone. BP goes belly up just like all the fish being murdered by CorExit dispersant chemicals in the Gulf right now. The company goes down in flames just like New Orleans (or some other major city on the coast).
Of course, the scenario I'm describing here is theoretical, and I hope it's a worst-case scenario, too. But it is possible. Catastrophe is what happens at the intersection of poor planning and bad luck. BP has given us poor planning, and now Mother Nature may be about to deliver a heavy-handed dose of bad luck in the form of a seasonal hurricane that takes oil from the Gulf and dumps it on land.
We can only hope that these two elements do not collide on our shores. For if they do, we may witness loss on a scale our world hasn't seen since the dropping of atomic weapons on civilian populations in World War II. If a hurricane drops oil on New Orleans (or any other Gulf Coast city) and it goes up in flames a few days later, the aftermath will, indeed, resemble the effects of a nuclear bomb explosion.
You probably don't want to be anywhere near that. Needless to say, if it starts raining oil in your neighborhood, that might be a good time to grab whatever you value and get outta Dodge.
Gulf state emergency preparedness agencies confirm mass evacuation plans (June 28, 2010) http://beforeitsnews.com/news/87/973/California_Notified_of_Gulf_Evacuation_Plans.html
A well-placed source in California told WMR that the California Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) has been briefed by its counterpart agencies in the Gulf coast states that there are plans to conduct a mass evacuation of millions of Gulf coast residents due to the catastrophic environmental and public health effects of the BP oil disaster.CEMA officials have been briefed on the planned evacuations by counterparts in the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The Gulf states' emergency planners stressed to their California counterparts that they are dealing with a disaster of unprecedented proportions and that contingency plans are being constantly updated and revised on ways to deal with the transformation of the Gulf of Mexico into a deadly "toxic soup" of oil and Corexit 9500 oil dispersants and the atmosphere into a dangerous mixture of hydrocarbon gases. CEMA was briefed on the impending mass evacuation since California would be expected to absorb a large number of evacuees from the Gulf states. CEMA officials did not say how the state of California, which is virtually bankrupt, would pay for the influx of hundreds of thousands and perhaps greater numbers of evacuees from the Gulf coastal region.
Planned Evacuation of 18 Gulf Coast Cities (June 23, 2010) http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2010/06/23/planned-evacuation-of-18-gulf-coast-cities/
For more than a week now, there are whispers of an eventual mass evacuation from the Gulf coast. (See HERE, for example.) Now the Wayne Madsen Report has joined the chorus. (...) His for-subcribers report today is profoundly disturbing. Madsen's sources in the federal government are telling him that a 200-mile radius "dead zone" is developing from the damaged BP oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, which threatens the lives of all marine and land animals, plants, and humans. Due to methane and toxic rain containing the poisonous Corexit oil dispersant, plans are in place for the mass evacuation of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Mandeville, Hammond, Houma, Belle Chase, Chalmette, Slidell, Biloxi, Gulfport, Pensacola, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Bay Minette, Fort Walton Beach, Panama City, Crestview, and Pascagoula.
Study Paints Grim New Madrid Quake Scenario (June 25, 2010) http://standeyo.com/NEWS/10_Earth_Changes/100628.New.Madrid.EQ.html
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The New Madrid seismic zone is capable of producing a massive earthquake that could devastate parts of the central United States, according to a study publicly released this week by the University of Illinois. A 7.7-magnitude temblor, the study said, could leave 3,500 people dead, more than 80,000 injured and more than 7 million homeless. In all, the study commissioned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency said the immediate economic impact would be $300 million. The study also concluded that authorities, utilities and others in eight central and southeastern states that would most likely be affected are, in many cases, ill-prepared for the aftermath. Providing shelter for the homeless, repairing and retrofitting bridges, and more would be difficult with a transportation network that would likely be heavily damaged. CLIP

EPA opening public "Decontamination Stations"; 400 people seek medical care after visiting Florida beach (JUNE 27TH, 2010) http://www.floridaoilspilllaw.com/epa-opening-public-decontamination-stations-400-people-seek-medical-care-after-visiting-florida-beach
The Escambia County Health Department lifted a health advisory on Pensacola Beach on Friday on the advice of a beach official and against the advice of a federal environmental official. Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Agency plans to put decontamination stations along the beach, possibly as early as this weekend. Dr. John Lanza, director of Escambia County Health Department, said the reason for leaving the decision up to beachgoers on whether to swim is because the oil situation on the beach is "very dynamic." "We have a situation that changes from one hour to the next, from one tide to the next, from wave to wave, from one wind direction to another," he said. [T]he impact advisory would warn beachgoers to avoid touching oily product on the beach and in the water, and it would advise them leaving the beach and seeking medical help if they experience respiratory problems. So far, 400 people have sought medical care for upper or lower respiratory problems, headaches, nausea, and eye irritation after trips to Escambia County beaches, Lanza said. [O]il chips, tar balls and submerged oil slicks and the odor of petroleum still were present. And people complained about getting a petroleum jelly-like substance on them from sand that was tainted brown. Swimmers who did venture into the water questioned whether it was really safe to wade, swim and play in the Gulf, especially when they had to walk through a line of tar balls and stay clear of skimmers scooping up oil just 25 and 50 feet from the shore."I only went into the water up to my ankles. That's as far as I wanted to go," said Joe Chambers, 28, of West Pensacola as he scrubbed off oily residue from himself and his son, Ethan, 4, in the public showers at Casino Beach. "It doesn't smell like the beach. It smells like a gas station. There are no fish in the water. There's nothing alive in the water. I don't know how public officials can just look at the water and make a call to reopen it for swimming." CLIP

Dick Snyder, director of the Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation at the University of West Florida, began conducting water samples May 3 on Pensacola Beach every Tuesday and Thursday because beach and health officials were only doing visual assessments. What you can't see in the water may be more dangerous than what you can see, he said. It can't been [sic] seen and it poses health risks [W]ater samples taken Thursday in the surf zone, where most people swim, at Casino Beach, did reveal small amounts of alkanes, hydrocarbon molecules found in oil, he said.
Gulf Seafood: Who Decides How Safe Is Safe? (June 29, 2010) http://www.aolnews.com/gulf-oil-spill/article/gulf-seafood-after-the-oil-spill-who-decides-how-safe-is-safe/19534995
The shopper stood staring at the large, ice-covered shrimp in the chiller-case of the high-end Seattle grocery. "Fresh. Wild Gulf Shrimp. Never Frozen. $16.99 lb." read the sign. "They're my favorites, but are they safe?" the woman asked the fishmonger. Andrew SchneiderFresh gulf shrimp are for sale in a high-end Seattle grocery store. Although it's been tested thoroughly, questions about its safety remain. "We couldn't and wouldn't sell them if they weren't," he answered, and quickly added that someone is testing the hell out of everything coming from the gulf.He was telling the truth. But several questions remain to be answered for consumers:Petroleum contamination is known to cause cancer and brain damage. But how much oil and gas does it take to make seafood dangerous?Who's in charge of determining how safe is safe? The Food and Drug Administration is supposedly the nation's food protector. What exactly is FDA's role in this process? How can you really tell where seafood is coming from? Is there any way to distinguish a gulf shrimp from a Pacific one? AOL News spent the past two weeks chasing down precisely who is doing that testing and how they decide what is safe to eat. (...) "Government decisions on what should or should not be done with potentially contaminated food are often influenced by everyone who has a stake in the outcome," says Jay Shimshack, an assistant professor of environmental economics at Tulane University."In this case, we might reasonably expect the oil industry or its lobbying organizations to represent their own interests during the relevant policy making process," he said. This is how the concerns among the players appear to break down: BP and other oil interests want the food declared safe to limit its liability and to halt further erosion of the industry's reputation. The crabbers, shrimpers, fishers and processors want to continue selling the oil-free seafood they're harvesting and keep longtime commercial customers -- some better restaurants and persnickety shoppers -- from fleeing to foreign suppliers. The public health experts just want to ensure the safety of what's being sold. However, the wording of the public advisories is crucial. Shimshack, an expert on the risks and benefits of seafood consumption, cautions that consumers tend to overreact to negative information. He says that health officials need to manage the risk trade-offs of potential contamination from fish consumption versus the loss of health benefits from reduction in fish consumption. (...) So far, the state has tested more than 10,000 samples of fish, crab and shrimp. None has levels of oil contamination that raised health concerns. "Determining how safe is safe can a painful process," Banks says. "NOAA has a number, the level of contamination at which a closed fishing ground can be reopened for commerce or sport. That's the level that we test for. Make sense?"As far as determining whether the shrimp, crab and fish came from the gulf or were farmed in foreign waters, the best advice is to know your fishmonger because buying seafood today clearly demands that the buyer beware.
Beyond the BP spill, a case of chronic oil pollution
By Steve Tracton -- June 24, 2010
There's no question that BP's Deepwater Horizon oil spill is an unmitigated disaster of yet unknown societal and economic proportions, not to mention the possibly irreparable damage to coastal and marine ecosystems. According to government estimates, as of yesterday anywhere from 39 million to 111 million gallons of crude oil has gushed into the Gulf of Mexico (that excludes captured oil). Most officials lean toward the higher totals while noting up to 2.5 million gallons more continue to spill each day -- that's an Exxon Valdez spill (nearly 11 million gallons total) about every four days.
Yet, while this oil spill and others before it have dominated the news, according to a 2003 National Research Council (NRC) report, at least 375 million gallons of oil end up in the world's oceans virtually unnoticed every year from natural sources and from human activities associated with the extraction, transportation and use of oil. Should the current rate of uncaptured oil discharged from the BP well continue, the spill will equal the yearly amount of oil entering the world's oceans sometime in August. Which is just about the time relief wells will, supposedly, completely plug the Deepwater Horizon gusher.
Unfortunately, no such end is in sight for the apparently massive background level of oil pollution.
Natural seepage generally occurs in regions of concentrated oil (and gas) -- not surprisingly, these are often the same areas where oil wells are drilled -- such as the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of California, and accounts for 47% of oil pollution worldwide. It follows that anthropogenic sources account for the majority (53%) of yearly oil pollution (almost 200 million gallons) of the world's oceans.
Perhaps surprisingly, a vast majority of this 53% is a consequence of mankind's use of oil rather than accidental spills associated with offshore drilling or tanker transport. Technological advances in offshore drilling and safety measures -- notwithstanding the BP fiasco -- and regulations regarding the design of oil tankers (enacted in response to the Exxon Valdez disaster) have dramatically reduced blow outs, spillage resulting from nominal oil production (offshore and onshore facilities), and oil tanker disasters. As a result, collectively these sources account for only 3% of non-natural oil pollution.
Of special interest and relevance to the U.S., the NRC reports that of the 375 million gallons entering the oceans worldwide every year, at least 75 million originate from North America. The largest component (62%) is seepage from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico and to a lesser extent the ocean bottom off the California coast. While proportionally less than for the globe, anthropogenic sources are not insubstantial (28.5 mil gallons), with the vast majority not from accidents in extraction or transport, but human use, including misuse and waste of oil and oil-based products.
The vast majority of use-related oil pollution (about 87%) in North America is from urban runoff into rivers, discharges from commercial and recreational marine vessels, and air pollution. Among the individual sources are improper disposal of used motor oil, (e.g., from cars, lawn mowers, etc), oily storm-water drainage from city streets, runoff of municipal and industrial petroleum waste products (e.g., from refineries and power plants), leaking from storage facilities, oil released from bilge cleaning and other ship operations, and deposition by rain of atmospheric hydrocarbons. More than half of the oil that originates from land-based sources and ends up in North America's near-shore waters comes from the urbanized areas between Maine and Virginia.
The airborne sources of oil pollution into the ocean nominally include emissions from vehicles, power plants and industrial facilities. Added now to an unknown degree is the hydrocarbon load from purposeful spot burning of surface oil in the Gulf. Speculatively, at least some, if not most of the oil rid from the surface of the Gulf might simply settle back or be washed out by rain and spread as a poisonous residue over a larger area including, possibly, otherwise unaffected regions over land.
Individually, each contributor of oil pollution of our seas may be relatively small and sporadic, but collectively amount to tens of thousands of releases into the world's oceans every year. Notwithstanding the justifiable attention on the Gulf spill and its catastrophic consequences, these sources of oil pollution might very well be more important in both scale and degree to the longer-term health of the marine environment. While many aspects of the chemical composition of these diffuse contaminants are largely unknown, they continuously create relatively low but chronic contamination over huge areas of the world's oceans.
We know that in the short term, even a small amount of oil in the sea can have severe effects on marine life depending on the location and timing of its release. Over the long term, there is possibly a latent (hidden) period before evidence of non-obvious consequences of oil pollution are discovered. And then it might be too late to do anything about it (advocates for climate change action know this feeling all too well).
On the other hand, except for natural seepage, the of oil now hemorrhaging into the Gulf is unique in that it enters the water from unprecedented depths (approx. 5000 feet). Consequently, many of the contaminants are washed off or dissolved as the oil rises with some unknown percentage of the total forming extensive plumes well below the surface. The concentrated and continuing effects of contaminants reaching beaches, wetlands and, especially, ecosystems and food chains within the Gulf (and perhaps beyond) will presumably remain open questions subject to intense research for the foreseeable future. One question I do not have an answer to is what, if any research has been done to date studying the ever-present natural seepage of large volumes of crude oil from the floor of the Gulf.
Whatever the outcome of the Gulf disaster, it's clear that ultimately it will be a matter only of determining the degree and extent of the environmental and human tragedies, and whether lessons learned will be sufficient to avoid comparable catastrophes in the future.
POSTSCRIPT: During World War II, 452 oil tankers were sunk in the North Atlantic, as were an unknown number of the 1080 wrecks lying on the bottom of the Pacific. Little is known about the total amount of oil that spilled directly in to the ocean, but it's likely much went to the bottom in ships that remained virtually intact. It is known that two oil tankers sunk in 1942 lie only a few hundred miles from Australia's Great Barrier Reef and are estimated to contain as much oil as the Exxon Valdez. It's only a matter of time before rotting hulks pose enormous potential to foul fragile environments.
...and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died;...
It's never too late to remove the cause of pollution. The only thing preventing it is a lack of will to do it. BP tried to minimize their catastrophe from the start. Nature will adapt to the oil but it can never adapt to greedy idiots. We must get rid of oil drilling in areas where it doesn't belong.
The oil pollution issue is the direct result of our continuing obsession with the private automobile. We should adopt a decent energy policy to address this. First, implement fuel rationing as we did in WWII. Next, tax everything associated with cars [purchase, registration, fuel purchases, drivers' license renewal...] and it is vitally important that we apply the proceeds of these new taxes to transportation/energy applications [highway construction and maintenance and relief of Metro and other transit systems' deficites as well as transit system construction].
The present Virginia car tax is wrong because proceeds go to the general fund, and not to highway and transit improvements. It should be repealed and replaced with a tax applied to transportation.
Motor vehicle fleets [e.g. taxicabs, emergency and law enforcement] and vital applications would be exempt from rationing and taxation requirements. Hybrid and electric vehicles would be taxed at a rate lower than standard internal combustion.
As long as we adhere to "business as usual" we'll continue to need offshore petroleum drilling with its attendant pollution risks. Same goes for tar sands and other environmentally risky petroleum recovery options.
BP says Gulf relief well on target for mid-August (JUNE 25, 2010) http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gIXWYBTpLtSayJtg41LKXpxSxVPAD9GIGA800
NEW ORLEANS - Tests show BP is on target for mid-August completion of a relief well in the Gulf of Mexico, the best hope of stopping the oil that's been gushing since April, the company said Friday. The crew drilling the first of two wells ran a procedure this week to confirm it is on the correct path, spokesman Bill Salvin said."The layman's translation is, 'We are where we thought we were,'" he said.Several such tests are needed to determine the relief well's location relative to the well that blew out April 20 when the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon exploded. Once the new well intersects the blown-out one, BP plans to pump heavy drilling mud in to stop the oil flow and plug it with cement.Salvin said the relief well should be done by mid-August, but that didn't seem to help the company's stock price, which plunged following the company's announcement that the price tag for the response has risen to $2.35 billion.BP shares fell more than 6 percent in New York on Friday to a 14-year low. If the decline holds, BP will have lost more than $100 billion in market value since the spill. (...) The first well, started May 2, reached a depth of 16,275 feet on Wednesday before workers paused for the first test known as a ranging run. Although the first relief well is only 200 feet laterally from the original well, the crew still has to drill around 3,000 feet deeper before it can intercept the original well, according to Salvin."We have to hit a target essentially nine inches in diameter," he said. The second relief well, started on May 16, has reached a depth of 10,500 feet.Worst-case government estimates say about 2.5 million gallons are leaking from the well, though no one really knows for sure.August seems a long way off to many dealing with the fallout that includes oil washing up on beaches and creeping into delicate wetlands.Along Pensacola Beach in Florida, part of which was closed Thursday, lifeguard Collin Cobia wore a red handkerchief over his nose and mouth to block the oil smell. "It's enough to knock you down," he said. CLIP
NOAA: Undersea oil plumes came from BP well (JUNE 14, 2010) http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/06/24/1697742/noaa-undersea-oil-plumes-came.html
After four cruises into the oil-stained waters of the Gulf of Mexico, a team of federal scientists Wednesday released a report confirming what other researchers concluded weeks ago: "The preponderance of evidence'' points to BP's ruptured well as the source of massive undersea oil plumes. But after two months, what's happening with the diffused clouds drifting beneath the floating goo, sticky tar balls, and shimmering surface still remains murky. It could take several more months for the federal agency in charge of assessing spill damage to simply get a good grasp of how much oil remains drifting below. During a stop in Miami, Jane Lubchenco, administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration -- criticized by some scientists for being slow to jump into the Gulf disaster -- said federal assessment efforts were making headway. But she also acknowledged the Gulf spill, unprecedented in both volume and complexity, had strained the agency's resources and technology. "That oil that is below the surface is much more challenging to get a handle on,'' Lubchenco said. "It will continue to be an ongoing effort to understand where it is and in what concentrations, what the source is and what impacts it is having.''But she said it was clear the Gulf would be suffering after-effects for years, perhaps decades. Oil is dense near the leaking wellhead, she said, but shows up miles away in concentrations that, though invisible to the naked eye, remain potentially lethal for many organisms in the open ocean, she said. "We have very grave concerns about the impact this massive infusion of oil is going to have on the Gulf ecosystem,'' she said. CLIP
SCENARIOS-Tighter regulations to follow Gulf oil spill (JUNE 25, 2010) http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2519174820100625
(Reuters) - With oil still flowing into the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. government is set to flood the offshore drilling industry with new laws and regulations. -- Following dozens of hearings and heated political rhetoric, several key Congressional panels will begin considering and voting on legislation crafted in response the biggest oil spill in U.S. history next week. The Obama administration has vowed to move forward with aggressive regulations for oil and natural gas companies operating in federal waters, despite a federal court's ruling overturning its six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling. Ultimately, the oil disaster is almost certain to reshape the role government plays in overseeing oil and natural gas exploration and production off the U.S. coastlines. Following is a look at some of the possible actions and new laws and regulations that may result from the spill. CLIP
Oil spill's psychological toll quietly mounts (JUNE 27, 2010) http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gIXWYBTpLtSayJtg41LKXpxSxVPAD9GJT9QG0
NEW ORLEANS - The Gulf of Mexico oil disaster feels far worse to shrimper Ricky Robin than Katrina, even though he's still haunted by memories of riding out the hurricane on his trawler and of his father's suicide in the storm's aftermath. The relentless spill is bringing back feelings that are far too familiar to Robin and others still dealing with the physical and emotional toll wrought by Katrina five years ago."I can't sleep at night. I find myself crying sometimes," said Robin, of Violet, a blue-collar community on the southeastern edge of the New Orleans suburbs, along the highway that hugs the levee on the Mississippi River's east bank nearly all the way to the Gulf.Psychiatrists who treated people after Katrina and have held group sessions in oil spill-stricken areas say the symptoms showing up are much the same: Anger. Anxiety. Drinking. Depression. Suicidal thoughts. "Everybody's acting strange," said Robin, 56. "Real angry, frustrated, stressed out, fighting brothers and sisters and mamas and family." (...) Mental health professionals say it is too early to have reliable data to understand the full severity of stress issues spawned by the spill. However, their work so far indicates the problem is taking root, and the backdrop of Katrina means it is likely to get worse. Tropical systems such as the one that swirled over the Yucatan Peninsula on Sunday won't help matters, even though it was forecast to bypass the spill. "This is a second round of major trauma for children and families still recovering from Katrina. It represents uncharted territory," said Dr. Irwin Redlener, director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University and a member of the National Commission on Children and Disasters who has worked with Katrina survivors.Dr. Howard Osofsky, chair of the psychiatry department at LSU Health Sciences Center, said focus groups he's monitored in spill-affected areas confirmed those emotions. Ziegler, the Alabama mental health chief, said counselors have gone out to marinas, docks and other places frequented by fishermen and others affected by the spill. "They've had folks break down and weep," he said. "They've had people share some of their deepest feelings about their future and how they're feeling now that things seem imminent." CLIP
BROWN: Tonight, growing outrage over the millions of gallons of chemical dispersants BP is dumping into the gulf. Some local residents insist the chemicals along with the oil are making them violently ill. They say they're nauseated. They've got headaches and breathing problems.
Kerry Kennedy from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights has been touring the coast and talking to folks who complain that they are being exposed to a lot of unknown toxins right now. I spoke with her earlier today.
BROWN: Kerry, people who have come in contact with the oil and the dispersants are complaining of nausea, headaches, burning eyes. Talk to me a little bit about your experience when you were touring these gulf communities.
KERRY KENNEDY, RFK CTR. FOR JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS: Well, that's exactly what we felt. I went out on a boat yesterday into the gulf and all of us were wearing respirators and we had burning eyes and sore throats and a sense of nausea. As far as you could see, all around us the ocean looked like we were at a gas stock - the slick of oil everywhere with that kind of rainbow color.
BROWN: I know you talked to a lot of people working in this stuff, too. Were they being encouraged to wear rubber gloves, to wear respirators like you did and other kinds of protective gear that might help them?
KENNEDY: No. Quite the opposite. We talked to workers who had been told by BP that they didn't need respirators. Apparently, they're concerned about poor media images of people wearing respirators and rubber gloves and starting, quote, "hysteria."
BROWN: We're not just talking about oil as I said before. We're talking about these dispersants they're using as well. And we don't even really know what's in these dispersants. BP is keeping a lot of information proprietary. What have you heard from health care workers about that in particular and how do they go about treating people? Because there have been a lot of complaints of illnesses. People getting - or feeling really sick who have been working out there.
KENNEDY: Well, this is an enormous problem because people are getting sick they're the same types of illnesses that people reported in Alaska.
Now, the average lifespan of a person who did cleanup on the Exxon Valdez is 51 years old. Almost all those people who did work on the Exxon Valdez are now dead. And BP still here, once again, is big oil not giving the information to the doctors and health care officials. County nurse was not given permission to go on to the BP property. When she finally did that, the people who work at BP who were coming to see her were only allowed to get band aids and aspirin from her. And they were told that they only could go to the BP doctors if they wanted to get treated.
[T]here's a whole other set of issues that we are seeing a spike in and that's mental health problems. We were told in all three states again and again and again that people are facing depression and, of course, that leads to, as you know, to domestic violence, to divorce, to a spike in crime and to suicide. And we've already heard many reports of concerns about those types of implications.
Exxon Valdez oil risks spur warning for gulf cleanup crews (May. 10, 2010) http://www.lvrj.com/news/exxon-valdez-oil-risks-spur-warning-for-gulf-cleanup-crews-93258964.html
They called it the "Valdez crud," but it was more than a cough and diarrhea."We thought it was a flu that was going around and every body kept getting it," said Merle Savage, who was general foreman of the cleanup crews of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska's Prince William Sound. Instead, the stuff that was making cleanup workers sick was a toxic cocktail of oil droplets in mist they inhaled from spraying the shoreline with hot water and chemicals that were used to disperse the spill's massive black wave. Now Savage wants today's workers to be aware of similar risks they might face in cleaning up the even bigger BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. (...) 'Oil is 1,000 times more toxic than we thought' "The BP spill is going to be worse. I'm warning workers to understand how toxic the crude oil can be."Savage's personal experience is that the ill effects have lingered for years."When I came to Las Vegas in 1995, I was sick. I had bronchial problems," she said. "I lived with extreme diarrhea day in and day out for years."During that time she has had severe pain in her joints and underwent a biopsy for a spot on her liver. (...) "I worked two weeks on the spill, holding a hose with hot water gushing out and steam coming up," she said. "At first we didn't have masks. But later on we had paper masks that wouldn't last a day."There was crude oil and dead seaweed all around. The smell from that was horrible."The rain gear workers wore would be cleaned using a solution that contained benzene and other chemicals, Savage said. She eventually was promoted to the post of general foreman.Even though workers would become sick, most didn't want to be sent from the boats and barges back to Valdez because they didn't want to lose their jobs."Everybody on my barge was complaining and throwing up," she said. "Even I was sick." (...) "Thousands of people are suffering from the Valdez cleanup with no compensation. And there were Exxon officials on each barge. I knocked heads with a couple of them."
Each day, another way to define worst-case for oil spill (June 23, 2010) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/22/AR2010062205391.html
An enduring feature of the gulf oil spill is that, even when you think you've heard the worst-case scenario, there's always another that's even more dire. The base-line measures of the crisis have steadily worsened. The estimated flow rate keeps rising. The well is like something deranged, stronger than anyone anticipated. BP executives last month said they had a 60 to 70 percent chance of killing it with mud, but the well spit the mud out and kept blowing. The net effect is that nothing about this well seems crazy anymore. Week by week, the truth of this disaster has drifted toward the stamping ground of the alarmists. The most disturbing of the worst-case scenarios, one that is unsubstantiated but is driving much of the blog discussion, is that the Deepwater Horizon well has been so badly damaged that it has spawned multiple leaks from the seafloor, making containment impossible and a long-term solution much more complicated.Video from a robotic submersible, which is making the rounds online, shows something puffing from the seafloor. Some think it's oil. Or maybe -- look again -- it's just the silt blowing in response to the forward motion of the submersible. More trouble: A tropical wave has formed in the Caribbean and could conceivably blow through the gulf."We're going to have to evacuate the gulf states," said Matt Simmons, founder of Simmons and Co., an oil investment firm and, since the April 20 blowout, the unflagging source of end-of-the-world predictions. "Can you imagine evacuating 20 million people? . . . This story is 80 times worse than I thought."The bull market for bad news means that Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the government's point man for the crisis, is asked regularly about damage to the well bore, additional leaks and further failures. "Can you talk a little about the worst-case scenarios going forward?" a reporter asked Tuesday. "What happens if the relief wells don't work out?" CLIP
Does The Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill Mean That The U.S. Is Headed For Gas Lines, Higher Food Prices And A Broken Economy? (June 23, 2010) http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/does-the-gulf-of-mexico-oil-spill-mean-that-the-u-s-is-headed-for-gas-lines-higher-food-prices-and-a-broken-economy
As the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis enters a third month, the economic impact of this environmental nightmare is starting to become clearer. The truth is that the "oil volcano" spewing massive amounts of oil into the Gulf has absolutely decimated the seafood, tourism and real estate industries along the Gulf coast. Not only that, but energy industry insiders are now warning that the chilling effect that this crisis will have on offshore drilling could precipitate a new 1970s-style energy crisis. Considering the fact that the U.S. economy was already on incredibly shaky ground even before the oil leak, the last thing we needed was a disaster of this magnitude. But it has happened, and the reality is that the long-term effects of this crisis are potentially going to reverberate for decades. The American people certainly have a negative view on the impact that this oil spill will have on the economy. According to a new poll, about eight out of every 10 Americans expect the oil spill to damage the U.S. economy and drive up the cost of gas and food. CLIP
CDC advises "Everyone, including pregnant women" to avoid areas affected by spill; Expert says crude oil contains "some of the most toxic chemicals that we know" (June 23, 2010) http://www.floridaoilspilllaw.com/cdc-advises-"everyone-including-pregnant-women"-to-avoid-areas-affected-by-spill-expert-says-crude-oil-contains-some-of-the-most-toxic-chemicals-that-we-know
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, has issued health warnings While they suggest there is no threat, the CDC simultaneously advised "everyone, including pregnant women" to avoid spill-affected areas. Shira Kramer, an epidemiologist who has conducted research for the petroleum industry on the health consequences of exposure to petroleum, said she is concerned that the risks are being downplayed."It's completely scientifically dishonest to pooh-pooh the potential here when you are talking about some of the most toxic chemicals that we know," said Kramer, who is founder and president of consulting firm Epidemiology International in Hunt Valley, Maryland. She isn't involved with the Institute panels."When you talk about community exposure, you are talking about exposures in unpredictable ways and to subpopulations that may be more highly susceptible than others, such as those of reproductive age, people who are immuno-compromised, children or fetuses. "[W]e have a soup of chemicals from the crude, chemicals from the dispersants and pollutants that were already in the water. Who can say how they will interact?" CLIP
Storm could leave oil gushing for 2 weeks (June 26, 2010) http://www.tampabay.com/news/environment/water/storm-could-leave-oil-gushing-for-2-weeks/1105110
If Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen gets word that gale-force winds are five days away from hitting the Deepwater Horizon disaster, he's going to pull out every member of the cleanup crew for two weeks and let the well flow unchecked. Allen, who is in charge of overseeing the Deepwater Horizon cleanup, said Friday that his team is closely watching for any signs of a tropical storm or a hurricane headed their way. The National Hurricane Center said Friday afternoon that the first tropical depression of the season had formed off the coast of Honduras. It could become Tropical Storm Alex. If he gets word gale-force winds are headed toward the oil spill, Allen said, it will mean "we will start to redeploy from the well site," he said. Gale-force winds are 45 mph. Hurricanes have winds of 74 mph or more. When reporters asked why not wait longer and keep working, Allen said, "We're not even waiting, because you don't know - it could move into a (category) 2, 3 or a 4 hurricane by the time it gets there." If the crews are forced to pull out, he said, they would be unlikely to return to the job for two weeks. During that time, the well would not be connected to any containment system. Even if Alex fails to chase BP and the Coast Guard away this time, it's unlikely this will be the last storm for them to worry about. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted last month there could be 14 to 23 named storms this year, with at least eight of those turning into hurricanes. "This season could be one of the more active on record," NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco warned. Forecasters at Colorado State University have predicted 15 named storms that will spawn eight hurricanes this year. If an approaching storm forces the Coast Guard and BP crews to pull out, Allen said, they will have to disconnect from the containment cap now collecting oil spewing from the well a mile down so "that will be unattended." That means there would be nothing to contain even a little of the oil now gushing out at a rate estimated from 35,000 to 60,000 barrels a day, or 1.47 million to 2.52 million gallons. And they would also have to pull out all the boats now skimming oil off the surface."I don't think anybody wants a vessel out there trying to skim oil in gale-force winds," he said. After the storm passes, he said, they would have to coordinate with state and federal agencies in charge of hurricane cleanup and search and rescue - and that would spread their available personnel even thinner. A tropical storm or a hurricane could do more than just chase away the cleanup crews for two weeks. It could rip apart any protective booms that have been deployed to protect marshes or shorelines. It could drive oil into the sediment just offshore, where it would be hard to clean up. And it could hurl oil-soaked debris and tar balls miles inland. But that's only if the hurricane hits on or to the west of the slick. Hurricane winds spin counter-clockwise, so a hurricane passing to the east of the slick could instead drive the oil away from the coast.

(...) Already, 386 individual and 23 commercial claims of diminished property values have been filed with BP.BP's payout: $0."If the $2 million condo you bought in 2006 is now worth $1 million, and then there is oil on your beach and it's worth $100,000, is BP going to consider that a legitimate claim?" said Jack McCabe of McCabe Research and Consulting in Deerfield Beach. "We've never seen anything like this in the history of man, and it's all aimed at Florida."McCabe believes there is no doubt Southeast Florida real estate values will be affected by the oil. Just like on Holmes Beach, which has no oil, people may be hesitant to buy because "to the general public in America, Naples is the same thing as Pensacola," McCabe said. CLIP
DoE investigates mystery of dead fish (6/25/2010) http://www.caymannewsservice.com/science-and-nature/2010/06/25/doe-investigates-mystery-dead-fish
The cause of a large number of dead juvenile fish along the waterline on Seven Mile Beach is unknown, according to the Department of Environment, and appears to be confined to a single species. The fish, which were reported to the DoE Wednesday 23 June, appeared to all be filefish fry about 2-3cm long, possibly white-spotted filefish, but because of their young stage of development the department is unable to identify the species with certainly. "Despite the large number of dead fish observed over several miles on southern and central Seven Mile Beach we do not suspect that there is a systemic environmental problem at this time," said John Bothwell, Senior Research Officer with the Department of Environment."Though we do not yet know what caused this die-off, we haven't found any other marine species that have been affected and so it is more likely some temporary environmental change that killed the large school of juvenile fish. Because of their extreme juvenile stage even a small natural change could have caused the die-off and we will probably never know its source," he explained. CLIP

Note from Jean: Here is a possible global warming worst case scenario about what could happen if we don't manage soon to get our CO2 and methane emissions under stringent control. This is one of the comments in the thread of comments to Natural gas, the green choice?, an interesting analysis in itself of the fact that through natural gas leakage from pipelines, pumps and zillions of other sources could make it more dangerous for our biosphere than even CO2. One thing sure, the more we mess up Gaia's ecosystems, the more likely it is we will pass some invisible threshold, some point of no return beyond which recovery of the dynamic balance Life's natural feedbacks systems have maintained for hundreds of millions of years.
James Hansen in his book is adamant about keeping CO2 below 350ppm. http://stormsofmygrandchildren.com/
Furthermore, according to him, a Venus-like scenario is all too likely for his comfort (and mine too, I may add).
dohboi on June 25, 2010 - Comments:
Yup. Much as I admire enemy, I'll go with Hansen when it comes to judgments about climate and planetary systems.
Keep in mind that methane, large as it is, is not the only re-enforcing feedback mechanism:
The other big one is water vapor, itself a greenhouse gas, and of course on a planet 3/4 covered with water, the more heat, the more water vapor. Yes, some of that will form the kind of clouds that reflect light, but some clouds will also have a larger net effect of keeping heat in. This has its largest effects at night and in winter, which would otherwise get much colder.
Loss of reflectivity or albedo as less and less of the earth and ocean is covered with ice and snow mean more solar energy is absorbed.
Hotter oceans will not only absorb less CO2, but could start off-gassing the CO2 that has already been absorbed.
The fact that the ocean has already absorbed about half the CO2 we have emitted means that it is less able to absorb further CO2.
The warmer and more acidic oceans (especially as they are more exposed to UV from damaged ozone layer) support fewer plankton, important organisms for sequestering CO2 (and for providing about half of the oxygen from photosynthesis).
Soils, as they dry out under increased heat, will emit further huge quantities of CO2.
Forests and other flora will more readily burn as they dry out and heat up, releasing yet more CO2.
Even if they don't burn, heat- and drought-stressed plants won't be as healthy, so won't be able to draw CO2 out of the atmosphere as easily.
As the atmospheric chemistry changes, hydroxyls, crucial in breaking down methane and other GHGs, deplete.
Once all ice is gone from the Arctic Ocean during the summer, the water will no longer be cooled by the ice changing state as it melts and will start to warm far beyond what it has so far.
Human mediated feedbacks include the likely increased use of air conditioning by those who can afford it, AC that is not only mostly powered by CO2 emitting coal, but also uses refrigerants, powerful GHGs, some of which inevitably leaks into the atmosphere.
And there are many others--please add your own; I'm trying to keep track of all of them.
Here's something I found from a TOD posting from Nov 27 '08 6:07 from a thread on phasing out coal (sorry, I didn't record the poster's name):
"you reach the point that water vapour feedback dominates. Essentially, once the oceans reach an average temperature of about 28 Degrees C (about 13 degrees higher than today), you get the situation that evaporation exceeds precipitation in an ongoing cycle (Higher evaporation = higher temperatures = more evaporation, where it cannot rain out fast enough to stop). Very, very quickly (perhaps a century), surface temperatures exceed the boiling point of water; the oceans boil into the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect even more.
Now, of course, the temperature gets so extreme that carbonates start breaking down, so all exposed Carbonates release CO2 back into the atmosphere. Volcanic CO2 will also build up. Even more greenhouse effect.
The huge increase in atmospheric water means that more will be broken down by UV light into oxygen and hydrogen, with the hydrogen escaping. Several hundred million years hence, the water will mostly be gone and the oxygen gradually removed by reaction with lava. We will now have a massive CO2 atmosphere and a searing desert of a surface, much like Venus today...Something to think about next time you start your car up"

Where I live in the United States, people are almost refusing to awaken. They seem so complacent and continue to ignore the problem, which will only get more serious--until we do wake up. What to do! Does anyone have any ideas, besides retreating to a safer place geographically? I'd appreciate any words of advice on how to get people to listen. They are all waiting for someone else to do it. They still believe the government. scientists, and BP are doing all they can. On a personal level, it is hard to take! Thanks for listening." Here it is with some additional material from the same source.
Increasing Intensity Of The Chaotic Node: The Gulf Of Mexico
You are entering a very difficult passage in this phase of the Chaotic Node. Danger to planetary life has been created through human arrogance, greed and stupidity. We are speaking here of the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. You have not been told the entire truth about the situation by your media or by your government. The situation is dire and there are multiple possible timelines that intersect this event.
We wish to discuss some of these, but then shift our attention to you, the individual human. These timeline possibilities we are discussing are malleable, changeable. They are not written in stone, as the saying goes. There are so many factors involved in the ecological disaster unfolding in the Gulf; it is difficult to predict the actual outcome, as it will appear in your three-dimensional reality. And as we have said before, things can radically change even in the eleventh hour.
The oil and gas reserves that have been punctured are vast, and if it is not contained it will unfold into several possibilities.
One of these extreme possibilities is the extinction of much (if not all) sea life in the Gulf region and a transporting of the contaminants into the Atlantic Ocean through the Gulf Stream to the coast of Europe, where a high level of toxicity will negatively affect ocean life in these regions of the Atlantic. If the puncture is not sealed, pollution of the entire Atlantic Ocean is a distinct possibility, and eventually the rest of the world's oceans will be compromised. The further away from the Gulf region, the less toxicity there will be. But one distinct possibility is an eventual contamination of the entire Earth's oceans.
In a worsening scenario, the methane gas, the natural gases in this field, could erupt and break through the ocean floor creating a tsunami of immense destructive capability as well as the release of poisonous gases into the region.
Another worse case scenario would unfold if the rift in the ocean floor were large enough to create a tectonic shift that rises up from the Gulf into the Mississippi and into the Great Lakes. This would be a disastrous scenario far beyond imagination.
Again, the current situation in the Gulf is a direct result of human arrogance, greed and stupidity on the part of the corporations involved in this incident and due to governmental negligence. The primary value that drives these corporate interests is profit, and so risks were taken that should have never been taken had the sanctity of life been included in the equation, but such was not the case. Sadly this is a trait of the age you are now leaving, and you are witnessing, first hand, the defamation of the waters of the Earth by a culture that depends upon oil and corporate interests that prevent the utilization of other technologies, all in the name of profit.
What will your money be worth if life is compromised? This simple intelligence test seems to have been failed. You are literally at the brink of the collapse of the old world and a chaotic birthing into the new.
The Chaotic Nodes are upon you in ever-increasing intensity. We view these as birth contractions, the birthing of a new Earth. And while the birthing of the new world is unfolding before you, if you are caught in one of the contractions it can be quite difficult.
In our opinion there is no place on Earth that will not be affected by the planetary changes, both natural and man-made. Some areas of the world will be less intensely affected, but all will be radically altered. Life on your planet is an interconnected web.
We advise those who are currently living in the Gulf region from twenty miles inland to the coastline to be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually prepared. This is a time for honed intuition and instinct. If you feel an intuition to leave the area, this will be an intelligence test. Who will pass and who will fail is simply the impersonal force of evolution at hand.
If the Gulf incident continues without mitigation, then this will be a time of immense challenges for the entire planet. And so even if you are not living near the Gulf, this is a time for intuition and instinct. Our advice is to hone these abilities within you and to act on the revelations that come to you. Each of you will be in the place, the circumstances and the timing based upon your level of evolution and what you came to Earth to experience.
However bleak a situation may appear to you, we wish to convey clearly this message: you are the co-creator of your reality. Move upward in consciousness, even if those around you move downward. If the situation deteriorates it will be a difficult time, in that, mass hysteria will increase, and you will have to find the center path, the narrow passage that leads upward. In the past we have given suggestions on how to bootstrap your consciousness. We won't go into those here. You may find them in the Archives.
Now is the time to step into your spiritual authority if you have not already done so. A dividing line is being drawn by evolution. The planet is responding to human greed, arrogance and stupidity. Gaia will survive this. It is not clear if the bulk of humanity will.
But even in the midst of this moving darkness there are exquisite opportunities to move upward in consciousness, both as individuals and as culturally creative/cooperative human communities.
You can also expect a continual deterioration of your financial system. The seeming recovery was a result of propping up a house of cards, and that house is beginning to shake again.
Our suggestion is to not be frightened by these changes that are upon you, but recognize them as breaks in the walls of a prison that have been erected around you. Step through the cracks into your freedom. You are creator gods and goddesses. You hold an immense power in your hands, but you have been sleeping and unaware of the immensity that you possess. Perhaps with this crisis in the Gulf, more of humanity will awaken and demand an end to the old ways that threaten all life.

Tom's Thoughts and Observations
Personally, I find this to be quite a powerful message. While some may think the communication is based on fear, I think it is based on intelligence.
Some of us in the human potential movement (especially many of us in that niche often labeled the New Age) think that by not looking at potential problems, those problems will somehow miraculously go away.
I am reminded, in this, of my dog Merlin who also believed that not facing problems was a way to deal with them. You see, Merlin was part bloodhound, and he measured about six feet from tail to snout and weighed in at 165 pounds. He was also a very evolved being, who I suspect, was not really a dog at all, more like an angel in a dog suit. One day I hope to write a tribute to Merlin and describe some of the little miracles he created in our lives. But he was also a hound and loved to roll in deer s h i t . Something happened when the deer droppings combined with the oils in his skin, and it was terrible. To him it was the most wonderful cologne, while to us it was a truly horrid aroma. Ah, the relativity of perception between humans and canines!
In addition to his propensity for deer droppings, Merlin loved to sit on the sofa and watch TV with us. But after his deer encounters, we wouldn't want him to either sit with us or, god-forbid, lie down next to us.
When he had dowsed himself with someS ahS deer cologne, Merlin would slink into the den and try to sneak onto the couch. The funny thing was that he would look away from us as he slowly, ever so slowly, slid his hulk onto the couch. He was convinced that if he couldn't see us, we couldn't see him. Inevitably, someone in the family would speak to him in a disapproving voice "Merrrrrrlin!!" And every time, Merlin would get a look of utter shock and surprise, as if to say, "How did you see me!"
Many of us humans are also gifted artists of denial. When something is too difficult to deal with, many of us just pretend it isn't occurring. While this may offer some delusional solace, it is just that-delusion.
It is far better, I think, to be aware of the facts in a situation, no matter how dire, so that we can more intelligently deal with it. And that is what, I think, the Hathors are presenting in this message.
For the record, they are not saying (I repeat, NOT SAYING) that any of the terrible scenarios they described will, in fact, become a reality. But they are saying that these are real possibilities, and we need to hone our intuition and gut instincts as we encounter the multifold and multi-dimensional effects of the Chaotic Nodes (which they have essentially defined as ever-increasing levels of chaos).
In a discussion with them after they gave this message, the Hathors referred to the Gulf crisis as a critical moment of creative potentials. By that they mean there are many possible outcomes co-existing simultaneously, and which of these will emerge as the primary three-dimensional reality is yet to be determined.
Hopefully, those in charge will somehow find a way to fix this latest assault on Gaia. But the whole situation reminds me of a Dutch turn of phrase that I find particularly apt when discussing governments and the media-mushroom treatment. With a few exceptions, they are all giving us the mushroom treatment-keeping us in the dark and feeding us s h i t ! It is, indeed, a time to hone our intuition and our instincts to see past the smoke screens and determine what right courses of action are needed.
The Hathors also mentioned, in passing, the Archives where one could find some of the methods they have shared for bootstrapping consciousness and beginning the ascent. To save you time in searching for these, I have posted direct links to them at the end of my comments.
Finally, I would like to share a personal snafu that happened to me some time ago. I was in a high-rise building and pushed the elevator button to go up. The doors closed, but nothing happened. I again pushed the button, and again, the elevator refused to budge. I yelled something obscene at the contraption, and started banging on it, as if that would make it work better. Anyway, I finally looked at the button I had been pushing. It was for the floor I was on! After regaining my composure, I gently pushed the button for one of the upper floors, and, voila, the elevator made its ascent to the floor I wanted.
Putting my personal comedy of errors aside for the moment, I think this episode is a lot like our civilization at the moment. I think a lot of us know we need to go to a higher floor, metaphorically speaking (both as individuals and as a culture), but we keep unconsciously pushing the same button.
We will have to change what we have been doing, if we are to survive this passage.
NOTE from Jean: On June 24, Jean Haines also left the following message in the ERN guestbook:
Friends, we are being told that the mess is the Gulf is ours and we must clean it up; that is, the impetus to do so is going to have to come from us, the everyday people who care. We are being told it is quite possible to do and that there are two places in this country that have the technology to do it. I've been waiting and watching on the net, and I believe it is possible that one of them has come to my attention this morning. If you agree that this might have the slightest chance of being a possibility, please forward this email widely. . .
I must say I know nothing about this particular website, but when I watched the video, simple, to the point, with words spoken, not by a slick operator, but by a man who appears to be an honest, caring, hardworking person, I have to ask myself the question: is this one of the companies I've been looking for?
There is a telephone number given, and if you have the ability to call and talk with these people to further verify the viability of what they offer. . . please, please do so!! And then, let us all know about it so we can push harder and stronger!!
In the meantime, I will continue to keep looking . . . As some of you know, I have an almost uncanny way of finding info . . .
Remember, we are being told over and over again, "We are the ones we've been waiting for!" There will be no more 'great white father' to save us; that time is over. We gave such men the job, and we can see just how they have 'saved' us. Either we are going to do it, or it isn't going to happen . . .

Hi Jean -- i've received two mailings of your latest 'Inconvenient Truths' compilation, which prompted me to write to you -- please read thru what i am writing, even if it seems negative at the outset
i think i've told you that i am both an abductee & a contactee -- Alex Collier is one of the very few genuine contactees, imo -- in one of his latest talks, he said that the Andromedans had relinquished their plan/hope of saving all the humans & were focusing only on individuals now
i have been told by several sources that i am a walk-in from another place in our Universe -- many incidents in my life support this -- & for almost all my life i have known that great destruction & mass deaths were waiting in the future
the fact that so many lightworkers see this as a 'negative' tells me that there is a fear of death in them -- & the lightworker hope of rescue from someone somewhere out there tells me that lightworkers don't know much about history -- there has been no rescue during centuries of war, cruelty, & genocides -- why people think rescue is on the way now beats me -- the mass of humans are incredibly self-centered, or at best species-centered --during my 40 plus years of being an organic vegan, i have had to watch most of the humans around me enthusiastically take part in poisoning the Earth & in terrible cruelty to animals -- only about 1% of humans are vegans [opting out from the cruelty]
on the one hand, the military-industrial-ET complex [James Casbolt's term] is responsible for the beginning destruction of all biological life on Earth, because of their increasingly sophisticated mass mind control [personally i think that the NWO plan is to make Earth into a barren sterile military base for their expansion into the galaxy thru war & conquest]
on the other hand, this is a free will Universe, & humans all have free will, & thus also are responsible
i believe that the NWO Gulf oil attack is the beginning of the very active stage of mass population reduction [of humans -- it's been going on w/the other animals on this planet for the last 50 yrs] -- & i think it is time to think about one's death -- if this seems negative, then i suggest there is a fear of death somewhere in the unconscious, & a lack of trust in God/The Creator
there is some justification for human fear of death -- the ET/OD beings who serve the NWO have pretty much complete control of Earth's astral planes, & have set up many soul traps there -- & all the black ops manipulations of time & space have helped to create these wormhole traps
both to you & on several forums i have written about Chet Snow's 'Mass Dreams of the Future' -- i have never received one bit of feedback when i write about this -- but, undeterred, i'll try again
Chet Snow was working as a past life regressionist -- the unconscious takes things literally, & in one regression he misworded his instructions & his client began experiencing/describing a future life -- intrigued, C Snow began progressing his clients to a future life -- tho each person described his/her life from the individual p.o.v., Snow learned that there were 3 distinctly different futures/timelines? ahead
the one that most humans are going to is a barren poisoned Earth, the humans living in glass-like domes -- one man said this was the 'loneliest life' he had ever experienced [ i always wonder if this is the Earth that the NWO controls, & if the reptilians & greys live underground]
the second future timeline was of humans living in a physical survival mode -- little armed bands all fighting each other
the third is the future you, Jean, & others including myself have seen in vision -- an Earth pure & cherished, of which one man said, 'No animals are ever hurt here' [not many humans there, i'd guess]
you might remember that i am a vociferous critic of the 'we create our own reality' belief -- i have vague memories of living somewhere else where my thoughts COULD create reality -- the God-given ability of all humans to create by thought has been stolen by the NWO & freely given away by most humans -- the most we get here is the occasional 'manifestation' & sometimes lots of little synchronicities
i do think, however, that our state of consciousness at death will determine where we end up after leaving the body -- the state of consciousness/beingness that each individual has created in this life & others -- some WILL escape the NWO wormhole traps
i pray often that the humans will wake up -- tho i do not have a lot of hope that this will happen -- the poverty that followed my waking up & fighting back during an abduction has led to my living surrounded by sheeple this past 10 yrs -- those of us who came here to wake them up -- we have failed in our missions
if you decide to post this, please do not use my name -- because of the likelihood that i am a walk-in from a non-NWO-aligned people -- we are not welcome here, & the less attention, the better
Israel: Rogue Terrrorist State Marching on a Fast Track to Hell
[Traduction]Pravda.ru | By Lisa Karpova | 29 June 2010
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the head of United Nations relief operations in Gaza have deplored Israels latest attack on a recreational facility for children in Gaza, the second such incident in a month. A group of about 25 armed and masked men attacked and set fire to the facility on the beach in Nuseirat that was being used to host the Summer Games, run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
No one was hurt in the incident, which follows a similar attack in May when a group of 30 armed and masked men attacked and set fire to an UNRWA Summer Games facility that was under construction on the beach in Gaza City.
Children in Gaza have been subjected now for 3 long years to deprivations, difficulties with everyday life and trauma from constant Israeli bombardments. They live with total uncertainty what the next day will bring.
Calls for those responsible for these incidents to be brought to justice have been made, but the United States ill-advisedly always tries to maintain Israels impunity.
Cowardly and despicable is how John Ging, UNRWAs Director of Operations in Gaza, described the attack. The overwhelming success of UNRWAs Summer Games has once again obviously frustrated those that are intolerant of childrens happiness, he added.
UNRWA will rebuild the camp immediately and will continue with its Summer Games programme which is so important for the physical and psychological well-being of Gazas children, so many of whom are stressed and traumatized by their circumstances and experiences, he stated.
If Israel and the United States are allowed to continue on their current course, the ultimate result most likely will be global thermonuclear war. At the very least, Israel will cease to exist. The worlds tolerance for unpunished crimes has been pushed to the limit.
While Israel commits acts of piracy and kidnapping in international waters, following it up with torture and lies, they have the audacity to still make demands regarding Iran as though they speak from a higher moral ground. I would invite anyone to make a simple search to get survivor accounts of Israeli behavior during their murderous rampage on the freedom flotilla.
Israels leadership recently, post the flotilla hijacking, called for more action against Iran, including more extensive boycotts by individual countries.
Meeting a South Korean Lee Myung Bak in Jerusalem, Israeli President Shimon Peres argued that countries should impose not only commercial, but also moral sanctions on Iran. He also described Iranian President Ahmadinejad as the worlds greatest moral corrupter
That takes chutzpah!!! Imagine Shimon Peres of all people speaking about being a moral corrupter. There is hardly a worse moral corrupter than he himself.
Israel has heaped honors on Jewish terrorists involved in what came to be known as the 1950s the Lavon Affair people who placed bombs inside American and British installations within Egypt as part of a false-flag operation endorsed by President Shimon Peres.
Then there is the other moral corrupter, Ariel Sharon, the butcher of Beirut, the man who exterminated twenty thousand Arabs in Lebanon, most of them, not all of them were Muslims. Many were Christians. And in addition, he is responsible for the slaughter of two thousand completely innocent Palestinian women, children and old men at Sabra and Shatila.
Twisted thinking leads Israel to believe that the more people they kill, the more people will be discouraged from attacking them, according to Gilad Atzmon in his commentary, Israeli Collective Madness. Such thinking is worse than anything that came out of the deranged mind of Adolph Hitler.
Meanwhile a bill passed in the U.S. Congress, not condemning the murderous behavior of Israel, quite the contrary. The legislation declares, Israel has an undeniable right to self-defense and condemned the recent destabilizing actions by extremists aboard the Mavi Marmara.
Peace activists delivering humanitarian aid are now extremists, not the Israeli commandos who shot indiscrimately into groups of unarmed civilians. You have to love that backward talking.
Meanwhile, this madness is also manifested in recent ship movements of the U.S. and Israel towards Iran. What are they up to? The passage of a warship armada through the Suez Canal and headed for the Persian Gulf and Iran is apparently not deemed important enough to be reported by the corporate media in the United States.
More than twelve U.S. and Israeli warships, including an aircraft carrier, passed through the Suez Canal and are headed for the Red Sea. According to eyewitnesses, the U.S. battleships were the largest to have crossed the Canal in many years, reported the London-based newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi on Saturday.
Israel recently also made the claim that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran. It was later categorically denied by the Saudis, but gives a good insight into the deranged thinking coming from Israeli leadership.
This situation with Iran is pushing the world tolerance for the murderous Jewish state to a critical mass. The people of the world are wise already to the lies and paranoia of Israel.
Should Israel decide to attack Iran, all the forces of hell are going to break loose. Let them be warned now if you keep pushing, if you keep murdering you are going to end up badly, very badly. You may try and take the entire world with you in a nuclear nightmare, unleashing your arsenal on the world, but those things fly both ways.
It seems Israel would again like to create a world in which no Jew is safe anywhere, which will obviously happen should they initiate yet another war of aggression, this time on Iran.
Its time for the total and complete removal from Israel of any and all weapons of mass destruction. Israel has shown total irresponsibility and that they are not to be trusted, indeed how many were murdered, maimed and burned by their use of WMDs already?
The U.S. and Israel have rightly earned their title: destroyers of civilization
For the past two hundred plus years, the imperialist foreign policy of the United States of America since its foundation, has been based upon racism, aggression, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity, war crimes and outright genocide. At this point in history, nothing has changed about essence of American imperial policy. This can be seen today in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and what appears to be an illegal plan of attack upon Iran.
Even knowing they are overextended already seems to have not discouraged their lust for the riches of Iran or the desire to destroy that great culture. The world community has to raise their voice before it is too late.

Subject: Prayer For The Earth - My Experience With It...
Date: 21 June 2010
I hear the common thread of love for Mother Earth and concern for Her in your voice, in your readers' voices, and in the voices of other Lightworkers in other groups from many places. The first article in the latest issue of Sacred Hoop speaks of local shamans near Copenhagen working for change in Humanity's treatment of her with visiting shamans from the Peruvian Andes highlands. The shamans of the Southern mountains had never left home before, ever. I hear from members of the Longhouse Coalition on this subject often. I hear from the Progressives in my area often. I know ex-Wall Street traders who are concerned. The tide of Human consciousness is turning, most everywhere I look, towards love and concern for the Earth.
There was a prayer I said once a few years ago in a sacred place. I was drawn by the Universe to the top of Monk's Mound in Southern Illinois. This is the tallest of the Cahokia Mounds, a UN World Heritage site. It covers the largest area of any ancient monumental structure around its base. Monk's mound isn't taller than the Great Pyramid at Giza, but it covers more ground, over 14 acres. It was abandoned over 400 years before the first European Colonialists set foot in North America, since used only by local Indigenous Peoples for an annual ceremony and gathering.
At the peak of Monk's Mound, I was inspired to say a prayer while smoking a fine cigar of sacred tobacco. I, a White European born of this region, appealed to the same Creator and spirits my Red Brothers do. The same Universal spirit that hears the prayers of all Humanity, regardless of the name(s) called upon.
To the East, I called "Heal the Earth, heal Mankind, in perfect ways, in perfect time." I sent the tobacco smoke into the sky of the East with this prayer upon it.
I repeated this prayer to the North, to the West, and finally to the South.
In all of this, my intention was for the divisions between Human Beings to be dissolved and healed, and for them to understand, love, and heal Mother Earth.
As I finished the final prayer to the South, in the nearly cloudless evening sky formed a high, thin cross of cloud that stretched across the entire bowl of the sky to the four Cardinal Directions. In the Southwest quadrant of the cross, very near its center, was a single cloud that looked exactly like a Thunderbird with Coyote riding on its back.
The great-grandson of a Seneca chief told me upon hearing this meant that my prayer had been heard and found acceptable. That is what the appearance of both Thunderbird & Coyote together meant.
Shortly after, I was inspired to find a real, native-crafted turquoise and silver ring. It was three years later when I found it. The stone in it is round and mostly blue with brown streaks running through it. It looks for all the world like a miniature Earth. The setting has wings on either side of the stone. Every time I put the ring on my finger, I repeat the following affirmation and think of that evening atop Monk's Mound: "I am connected to, a protector of, and supplied by the Earth."
About two years ago, I attended an interfaith ceremony at the Headquarters of the Theosophical Society in America, which is near my home. At that ceremony, I led an interfaith repetition of the prayer I first said atop Monk's Mound that day.
I would say that working in a prayer for the Earth in our daily routines is something that might be good for Lightworkers. Especially one that recognizes that all of Humanity and the Earth are interconnected and inherently indivisible.
The disaster in the Gulf is a catastrophe. It is also a teaching moment. Think about the lesson of Earth-interdependence the population near the Gulf is learning this Summer. Mother Earth couldn't be more graphic in showing us the dangers of oil-dependence. I wish this had never happened, but it did. There will be no escaping it's lesson.
Sticking the public with the bill for the bankers crisis
How else can we interpret the G20 communiqué that includes not even a measly tax on financial transactions? Naomi Klein - June 27, 2010
My city feels like a crime scene and the criminals are all melting into the night, fleeing the scene. No, Im not talking about the kids in black who smashed windows and burned cop cars on Saturday.
Im talking about the heads of state who, on Sunday night, smashed social safety nets and burned good jobs in the middle of a recession. Faced with the effects of a crisis created by the worlds wealthiest and most privileged strata, they decided to stick the poorest and most vulnerable people in their countries with the bill.
How else can we interpret the G20s final communiqué, which includes not even a measly tax on banks or financial transactions, yet instructs governments to slash their deficits in half by 2013. This is a huge and shocking cut, and we should be very clear who will pay the price: students who will see their public educations further deteriorate as their fees go up; pensioners who will lose hard-earned benefits; public-sector workers whose jobs will be eliminated. And the list goes on. These types of cuts have already begun in many G20 countries including Canada, and they are about to get a lot worse.
They are happening for a simple reason. When the G20 met in London in 2009, at the height of the financial crisis, the leaders failed to band together to regulate the financial sector so that this type of crisis would never happen again. All we got was empty rhetoric, and an agreement to put trillions of dollars in public monies on the table to shore up the banks around the world. Meanwhile the U.S. government did little to keep people in their homes and jobs, so in addition to hemorrhaging public money to save the banks, the tax base collapsed, creating an entirely predictable debt and deficit crisis.
At this weekends summit, Prime Minister Stephen Harper convinced his fellow leaders that it simply wouldnt be fair to punish those banks that behaved well and did not create the crisis (despite the fact that Canadas highly protected banks are consistently profitable and could easily absorb a tax). Yet somehow these leaders had no such concerns about fairness when they decided to punish blameless individuals for a crisis created by derivative traders and absentee regulators.
Last week, The Globe and Mail published a fascinating article about the origins of the G20. It turns out the entire concept was conceived in a meeting back in 1999 between then finance minister Paul Martin and his U.S. counterpart Lawrence Summers (itself interesting since Mr. Summers was at that time playing a central role in creating the conditions for this financial crisis allowing a wave of bank consolidation and refusing to regulate derivatives).
The two men wanted to expand the G7, but only to countries they considered strategic and safe. They needed to make a list but apparently they didnt have paper handy. So, according to reporters John Ibbitson and Tara Perkins, the two men grabbed a brown manila envelope, put it on the table between them, and began sketching the framework of a new world order. Thus was born the G20.
The story is a good reminder that history is shaped by human decisions, not natural laws. Mr. Summers and Mr. Martin changed the world with the decisions they scrawled on the back of that envelope. But there is nothing to say that citizens of G20 countries need to take orders from this hand-picked club.
Already, workers, pensioners and students have taken to the streets against austerity measures in Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Greece, often marching under the slogan: We wont pay for your crisis. And they have plenty of suggestions for how to raise revenues to meet their respective budget shortfalls.
Many are calling for a financial transaction tax that would slow down hot money and raise new money for social programs and climate change. Others are calling for steep taxes on polluters that would underwrite the cost of dealing with the effects of climate change and moving away from fossil fuels. And ending losing wars is always a good cost-saver.
The G20 is an ad hoc institution with none of the legitimacy of the United Nations. Since it just tried to stick us with a huge bill for a crisis most of us had no hand in creating, I say we take a cue from Mr. Martin and Mr. Summers. Flip it over, and write on the back of the envelope: Return to sender.

Harpers Army (June 28th, 2010) http://www.bladediary.com/harpers-army/
I dont like you Mr. Harper. I dont like what youve done to my democracy, my country, and my city. You have a reputation as a bulldog- a bully. But you are a coward, man. When democracy gets too hot for you, you prorogue parliament or mobilize a unprecedented private security force - along with unprecedented powers. Your sniveling cowardice is detrimental to our democracy and I have had enough. In a more truthful world, perhaps the private security you brought in - and gave me and my fellow citizens the bill for - would brandish shields bearing your name, not the misnomer Police. It is an abuse to the good name that the Police of Toronto have worked hard to build to call them that. In a more just world, perhaps you would be forced to work that security yourself. Toronto police knew they had no extra arrest powers (June 29, 2010) http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/police-accused-of-unnecessary-g20-mass-arrests/article1623566/
But they let public believe they had authority to search people who were within five metres of the downtown security perimeter -- Hours after Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair sat in front of a bank of cameras and microphones last Friday morning, defending the powers the province gave police to search, detain or arrest anyone coming within five metres of the G20 summits security fence, Toronto police received new information: The regulation specified nothing of the sort. But police, having papered the area with pamphlets outlining G20-related security rules, felt no need to send out a press release clarifying how the regulation in question worked. In total, police arrested more than 1,000 people over the course of the G20 summit. But of those, only 263 were charged with anything more serious than breach of peace 714 people faced that minor charge, and were released unconditionally.Another 113 were released unconditionally with no charges: They were arrested but not booked, said police spokesman Mark Pugash, who emphasized these numbers arent final. He said no one was arrested under the Public Works Protection Act who shouldn't have been.Police announced Tuesday morning they are conducting an internal review of police actions during the summit, but groups including the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and Amnesty International are calling for an independent inquiry. URGENT: Conditions at 629 Eastern Ave. Illegal, Immoral, Dangerous (JUNE 28, 2010) http://lexgill.com/2010/06/28/urgent-conditions-at-629-eastern-ave-illegal-immoral-dangerous/
(...) We just got back to our computers and are frantically writing this message. It is 4:45 a.m. on Monday morning. We are the only people who seem to know the extent of this story. Coffee and adrenaline keeping us going. When we got to Queen and Spadina after leaving the Convergence Centre raid today, we had already been blocked off by police lines. It was pouring rain, and we could hear a confrontation taking place further down the street. The cops didnt care whether or not we were media in fact, we heard that media was forced to leave before we arrived. Police acted violently and with sheer disregard for the law, attacking peaceful protesters and civilians unrelated to the protest. Tired, frantic, and feeling defeated, we came home and posted the message before this one.We then did the only thing left to do, and headed to 629 Eastern Avenue (the G20 Detention Centre, a converted film studio), where detainees from the demonstrations were being taken. We knew people were being released sporadically so we grabbed as many juice boxes and granola bars as we could afford and set off with medical supplies. Journalists were basically absent, showed up only to take a few seconds of video, or simply arrived far too late to be effective. It is next to impossible to set the scene of what happened at the Detention Centre. Between the two of us we estimate that we spoke to over 120 people, most of whom were released between 9:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Despite not knowing each other, the story they tell is the same. It goes like this. Most were arrested at three locations: the Novotel on Saturday evening where the police arrested hundreds of peaceful protesters (look @spaikin on Twitter); Spadina/Queens Park all day Saturday and early Sunday, as people were arrested all over the downtown for many different (and often bogus) reasons; and the University of Toronto, where hundreds of Quebecers and others were woken up and arrested at gun point early Saturday morning. What follows is a list, as detailed as we can make it in a blog post, of what we saw and heard.
(...) Abandonment - Despite all of the above mentioned crimes against detainees, most notably including medical issues, the Toronto Police had no plan for the detainees after they were released. They were simply escorted off the property and told to leave. Many had no idea where they were, had no access to a phone, had not eaten in a day, had no identification or money on their person, and were nowhere near mass transit. Had community volunteers and fellow released detainees not been present to assist them, we fear that some could have faced life-threatening medical emergencies or death.
(...) SOME OF THE COMMENTS POSTED THERE:
(...) I was detained for 19 hours and this is a pretty accurate description of the conditions inside.
(...) I was a peaceful observer and those are the exact conditions. It is fun to tell those being held 20+ hours that they didnt experience what we know we did. You must believe we decided in a secret meeting lets make up these what we exact conditions. Bullshit. No phone calls, no layer, no lights out, very little food, no alternatives for vegans/lactose intolerant, underage kids held without parents being told where they are the list goes on, but it is very much true.
(...) You should be believe it. This sort of treatment of demonstrators by police once in custody is not unprecedented. In 2001 after a rather large battalion of 98 PEACEFUL demonstrators were dragged away by police, the treatment of all of us was unreal once we arrived at the station. As an underaged person at the time I was placed in solitary confinement in a cell covered in blood, while other cells were packed with as many as 40 people to a cell. Over the course of 10 hours we received no water, no food, no peace. A woman actually went into premature labour from stress. People fainted. There was terrible screaming heard echoing throughout the compound met with our singing and chanting to stop hurting people. As we were being released WITHOUT CHARGES we were taunted, threatened with violence and walked a gauntlet of police lining both sides throwing shoes, and other personal affects at us. The police chief actually threatened to hurt me if he ever saw me at a demonstration again. REPLY Paul O'Brien June 28, 2010 - I am disgusted, sickened and saddened by the display of brutality and the police state we live in. CLIP
G20 Toronto: THERE IS NO EXIT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4CYn0isRhA
This is real footage of how police surrounded and penned in everyone at the intersection of Queen & Spadina during the end of the G20 Summit, THERE WERE NO EXITS, there were a few peaceful protesters, media,, and local residents got trapped in by hundreds of RIOT POLICE as the helicopters circled, then the rain hit, increased to torrential downpour, and everyone got soaked. Rumors spread that everyone was being detained, arrested, and/or 'processed' but almost 4 hours later, before 10 pm, an announcement was made that people would be allowed to walk north. This was the most insane PSY-OP that I witnessed this weekend, but I put my camera away in the rain. After watching the news reports on this incident my conspiracy theory is that THIS WAS DONE TO PUT ON A LIVE MEDIA SPECTACLE
Hogtown versus the world: how does Torontos G20 compare with previous summits? (JUNE 28, 2010) http://www.torontolife.com/daily/daily-dish/2010/06/28/hogtown-versus-the-world-how-does-torontos-g20-compare-with-previous-summits/
The G20 summit has mostly wound down, and the result is pretty mediocre: for billions in spending and a few torched police cars, we got a statement thats almost Zen in its blandness. The G20 leaders agree to work toward financial stabilitybut each one gets to decide what that means. Theyre committed to economic growthbut different countries need different strategies. They agree on a bank taxexcept for Stephen Harper and a few others, so not every country will have one. Reuters calls it a do-little summit.Given that so little of importance has been settled, how does Toronto stack up against previous summits and global meetings? CLIP
The Toronto G20 Riot Fraud: Undercover Police engaged in Purposeful Provocation (June 27, 2010) http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=BUR20100627&articleId=19928
Toronto is right now in the midst of a massive government / media propaganda fraud. As events unfold, it is becoming increasingly clear that the 'Black Bloc' are undercover police operatives engaged in purposeful provocations to eclipse and invalidate legitimate G20 citizen protest by starting a riot. Government agents have been caught doing this before in Canada. Montebello 2007 Riot Prevented - Identical Boots Exposed Undercover Police Provocateurs At the Security and Prosperity Partnership meeting protests at Montebello Quebec on August 20, 2007, a Quebec union leader caught and outed three masked undercover Quebec Provincial Police operatives dressed as black bloc protestors about to start a riot by throwing rocks at the security police. See the following videos documenting this event. Stop SPP Protest - Union Leader stops provocateurs Evidence -- Police provoke Violence at SPP protest - The operation was exposed by the following picture of the undercover police wearing combat boots identical to those of the security police arresting them. (Provocateurs in Montebello wear the same shoes as the Quebec policemen who arrest them!) CBC Report at Montebello 2007 See the distinctive yellow dots on the thick corrugated soles of the boots which are the giveaway. The Quebec Provincial Police were then forced after three days of public outrage to admit that these three men were indeed their officers operating undercover. Fast Forward to the Toronto 2010 G20 Protest Riot On Saturday June 26, 2010, the Globe and Mail published on their website a number of photographs taken at the afternoon riot in downtown Toronto precipitated by the black bloc. Using these photos, I am going to show you that once again, the black bloc provocateurs and the armoured police are wearing the exact same shoes. Thanks to the Globe and Mail for these very helpful photos.
(...) Canadian "Bureaucratic Economizing" Exposes The Fraud That the black bloc provocateurs and the uniformed armoured police are wearing in Toronto (as at Montebello) the identical government issued combat boots, has at least one positive aspect. It looks as if someone in the procurement bureaucracy was at least trying to do some economizing in the spending of the one billion dollars that this G20 fiasco has wrested from the taxpayers. Very sensibly, these bureaucrats wanted to provide the same sturdy combat boots for both the uniformed police officers as well as the undercover ones. How wonderfully Canadian. But this endearing Hobbit-like practicality has also given the game away. The black bloc, if they ever existed as an independent entity, have clearly been thoroughly infiltrated by undercover government agents. In classic covert counterinsurgency strategy these agents manipulate the group to commit violent acts which play directly into hidden government controllers' hands. These controllers manipulate public opinion from behind the scenes through the commission of false flag acts of violence (these are acts falsely blamed on scapegoats other than those concealed perpetrators who are actually responsible.) The psychological operation (psyop) is then accomplished through the propaganda fulminations of the completely controlled and complicit mass media. As in so many similar situations in so many other countries in the past, the goal of this combination of violent acts and lying media propaganda is to invalidate any legitimate citizen protest of the many immoral acts being wreaked upon the peoples of the world by our governments. The techniques of imperial control which have been used so successfully overseas are now being fully deployed against the people at home. Deployed against us. As far as our war-addicted governments are concerned, we are all insurgents now. But We Canadians Can Stop the G20 Fraud in Its Tracks - As this G20 protest riot fraud continues to unfold, please use your eyes and your cameras to pay attention to small details, like everybodys shoes! As more and more people wake up from the deceptions being perpetrated upon them, more inconsistencies in the official propaganda story will be noticed. Evidence will tumble forward to expose the whole malignant enterprise even more. We should stop this Riot Fraud in its tracks and demand an immediate investigation. Please forward this article as widely as you can and collectively send it to all our politicians and media to put them on notice that we will no longer allow them to participate in the Toronto G20 riot fraud of 2010. For Canada and for what is good and right and true.
Note from Jean: LOTS OF EVIDENCE THERE - And of course the Harper government absolutely had to fake those news-juicy incident to justify its bloated 1 billion dollars of Canadian taxpayers money wasted on these made-for-belief sooo important G-Clown meetings so that no one pays attention to the real behind-the-scene decisions taken during the recent Bilderberg meeting in Spain of the satraps (loyal subservient lieutenants of some powerful figures) and assorted henchmen of the true global evildoers lurking in their deep underground lairs. As usual our dimwit spineless propaganda media fall for this pr crap... MUCH MORE BELOW IN Sticking the public with the bill for the bankers crisis

Violent Protest or Agent Provocateurs? Toronto G8-G20 (June 26, 2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNOV_W6UnbE
Thousands of people took to the streets in Toronto, Canada to demonstrate against the twin G8 and G20 summits. Violent protesters caused riots according to the police, but one has to question from where the violence came from. Agent provocateurs have been used many times in the past to incite violence amongst peaceful protesters, so that the police can move in arrest people and break up the protests even in free speech zones. The main stream media is also quick to report on the violence discrediting the 10s of thousands who are there without violence.Police and security services have infiltrated black blocs with agents provocateurs. Allegations first surfaced after several demonstrations. At the 2001 G8 summit in Genoa, amongst the many complaints about the police there was mention of video footage in which "men in black were seen getting out of police vans near protest marches". In August 2007, Quebec police admitted that "their officers disguised themselves as demonstrators." However, they were easily recognized by the genuine protesters as police, as they were still wearing their police-issue footwear. More details in Police Provocateurs G20??
G20 Toronto: Black Bloc FAIL (Undercover POLICE) Destroy Undercover Vehicles as REAL Protesters Film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo0wMR-nc6Y
Black Bloc Smashing/Destroying/Burning/Rioting/Attacking Everything In Sight while REAL protesters film the latest Global Elite Psy-Op. It should be VERY obvious to everyone at this point, there is a pattern here. Massive crowds of PEACEFUL protesters show up to voice their opinions and concerns, and LIKE CLOCKWORK the Black Bloc comes out of nowhere and FU$%S UP THE WHOLE PROGRAM, EVERY TIME. This is a classic, PREDICTABLE tactic used time and again. And every time it happens the black Bloc gets away while the peaceful crowds are surrounded, harassed, arrested and worse. It is used to steer the public away from what LEGITIMATE protesters are out there screaming about, and is also used as a way to condition the public into expecting harsher police responses and HUGE security clampdowns (1 BILLION DOLLARS) every time there is a protest organized. The Black bloc is a tool of the Global Elite and there is plenty of proof if you are willing to look for it. REAL PROTESTERS DON'T WEAR MASKS, except gas masks, and by the time those are necessary it's obvious who is on what side! I can guarantee that just like all the past G20 protests, it will come out that the Police (undercover, in uniform, and elements of the Black Bloc), were the ones burning and smashing things, so they have their excuse to rush in on the law abiding protesters! GUARANTEED"$1 billion of security cannot stop a radical group as they smash a police rental van at University & College intersection, while dozens of police officers sit in rental vans across the street. The Black Block escapes proceeding the closing down the 'free speech zone' in Queens Park... G what? Hollywood Psy-Op!"
Guardian journalist assaulted, arrested (June 27, 2010) http://toronto.mediacoop.ca/story/guardian-journalist-assaulted-arrested/3865
A journalist covering the G20 for British newspaper The Guardian was brutally assaulted and arrested when police executed a mass arrest on a peaceful protest near Yonge and Front last night. (...) Why was a legitimate journalist like Jesse, for an important paper, like the Guardian, brutalized so that he was taken out of the coverage? Was he deliberately targeted by police in advance? Was this a preemptive arrest and brutalization?Where is the discussion of the legitimate concerns of the protesters? When do we discuss what is happening behind closed doors at these Summits- such as Canada-European Union: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) - negotiations that will out-source our municipal services? Why is all the media focused on violence and not on issues themselves? Divide and conquer - silence the journalists, focus on the violence of a few, and ignore the long term policy which will do far more damage to the fabric of civil society than the senseless violence and heavy-hitting hand of the police. I do not believe this was a random beating- it was calculated, and I think this assault may go to court for violation of civil rights. Much more through http://quebec.indymedia.org/en/
G20: Peaceful protest marches from Police headquarters to Queens Park (JUNE 28, 2010) http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/06/28/g20-peaceful-protest-marches-from-police-headquarters-to-queens-park/
Tim Vitus Wight has a black, blue and bloody left eye, and he wants to know why.The 23-year-old Halifax native says he was chased, tackled, booted twice in the face and arrested on Saturday night in Queens Park. He said he was peacefully demonstrating for human rights in the designated protest zone when riot police moved in.Mr. Vitus Wight was one of more than 2,000 people who rallied in front of Toronto Police headquarters Monday night to demand answers for police actions during the G20 summit. The demonstrators were a diverse group of students, young professionals and even some parents with children. They accused police of conducting mass arrests and arbitrary detentions, violating constitutional rights to peaceful assembly, excessive use of force, and poor conditions in the makeshift detention centre on Eastern Avenue. Im very angry. Im very pissed off, said Mr. Vitus Wight. Its a disgrace the amount of violence that they put on peaceful people. Police arrested more 900 people on the weekend, the majority on Sunday as largely peaceful demonstrations took place across downtown. Last night, 50 people were still being held at the facility.Demonstrators marched for several hours, past Mayor David Millers office, then back up to Queens Park, and finally to the detention centre. They held placards reading, Bill Blair Must Resign Now and Close Torontonamo, as well as F the Police. The mood before the demonstration was tense, with police numbering at least 200 searching and scuffling momentarily with a young man sitting across the street from the police station.I feel really incensed. I felt I had to leave work early and come down here, said Sehr Athar, who did not participate in any demonstrations but watched television coverage of police firing gas into peaceful groups. I felt this was an abuse of power.Tracey Henry, a partner in Toronto labour and human rights law firm Cavaluzzo, Hayes, Shilton, McIntyre and Cornish, called the police actions unacceptable. The legal community is outraged, she said, adding she would add her voice to a call for a public inquiry into what she called a disproportionate use of police force. I think its the only way to get to the bottom of what happened. The call was echoed by York professor and emcee David McNally, who said the demands are going to build over the coming days and weeks.A lineup of activist academics spoke through a megaphone to the crowd.Author Naomi Klein said she was pissed off about whats happening in my city Stop playing politics and public relations with our friends lives and let them go! she yelled. The crowd went erupted into cheers of, Let them go! Let them go!Ms. Klein then turned and addressed the hundreds of officers standing behind her. Your bosses got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, she said. Your bosses used the G8/G20 as their personal ATM machine. We won the right to speak, the right to protest, and were not going to shut the f up now, said Ryerson University professor Judy Rebick. CLIP
G20-related mass arrests unique in Canadian history (June 28, 2010) http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/g8-g20/news/g20-related-mass-arrests-unique-in-canadian-history/article1621198/
In the largest mass arrests in Canadian history, police arrested roughly 900 people in G20-related incidents during the weekend. Officers made more than 900 arrests linked to the summit in the past 10 days, Jillian Van Acker, a representative of the G20 Integrated Security Unit, said Monday. However, early on Saturday morning, police said they had arrested a total of 32 people, meaning that close to 900 were arrested during the weekend alone. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association denounced the mass arrests, saying they were illegal and unconstitutional because police did not have reasonable grounds to believe that everyone they detained had committed a crime or was about to do so. To us, its abhorrent that we would be arresting more than 900 people to find maybe 50 or 100 vandals. This makes no sense. Its a fundamental breach of Canadian law to have done that, said Nathalie Des Rosiers, the organizations general counsel. CLIP - MANY more related news through this LINK
There was certainly no waffling in Belgium when law enforcement officials raided a Catholic Bishop's meeting to pursue tawdry allegations of sexual abuse by pedophile priests.
When Pope Benedict XVI heard about the operation, he put down his incense and announced he was incensed that police actually did their jobs to protect minors from major abuses. He called the police action "surprising and deplorable", which more accurately might describe the way Rome has handled the child rape crisis.
Make no mistake -- the raid was harsh, heavy-handed -- and certainly long overdue. It is important to remember that the authorities only acted after the church stonewalled and failed to follow-through on promises it made to refer abuse cases to prosecutors under a 1990s agreement.
In condemning the sting operation, the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, tried to hide behind diplomatic protocol by calling the police practices "serious and unbelievable" and compared them to the handiwork of communist dictatorships.
However, if the Vatican were a genuine country where leaders abused children on such a massive scale worldwide, they would have suffered far more serious consequences. There would surely be calls in the United Nations for sanctions and a demand that the Pope step down.
The heart of the matter is that the Holy See wants to remain in charge of investigations, despite its complete and utter failure to comprehensively investigate, no less discipline, wayward priests. They obviously remain clueless on the gravity of the situation and heartless in the clumsy way they often treat their victims.
At this point, The Roman Catholic Church arguably has less credibility than the despicable North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) in terms of investigating allegations of abuse. If you think this is anti-Catholic hyperbole, consider that the Vatican has a total of ten investigators to cover hundreds of complaints worldwide. Pause and digest this paltry number for a moment...then get really angry.
That's right, the Los Angeles Lakers have two more basketball players than the Vatican has child sexual abuse investigators. Rome's entire molestation unit is the size of two Jackson 5's. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Pope has hired more than ten personal shoppers to help him pick out his Prada shoes.
Now, compare the figures 10 and 400.
The former we know, and the latter is the total number of sexual abuse allegations leveled against Belgian priests since the 80's. Of course, the Church created a puppet committee in Belgium to plod through the cases. But, we all know that Rome's specialty is stonewalling and smokescreens. Given the disparity between promises to actual prosecutions, no country that cares about its children should allow the Vatican authority to police itself. The time for ceding control to Rome must end and civil authorities worldwide should follow Belgium's laudable lead.
Left to its own deviant devices, the Vatican's instincts are to pass the buck, while giving guilty priests a pass. When the abuse cases first came to light in the United States, the Vatican tried to spin the immoral monstrosity as an American problem, as if latitude and longitude caused the lechery and lies.
The geographical excuse imploded after an avalanche of child rape allegations came from all corners of the world including the Catholic strongholds of Ireland, Austria and Germany. In a panic, the Pope and his minions tried to blame everything from gossip to gay men.
Indeed, Belgium's Archbishop Léonard has long tried to demonize LGBT people. Three years ago he said they were "abnormal," with "a blockage in their normal psychological development." That's interesting, because the police just raided his church over a pedophilia cover-up, not one of the many gay establishments or organizations in Brussels.
In the controversial raid, according to Time Magazine:
"Police sealed off St. Rumbold's Cathedral in Mechelen, north of Brussels, where the nine bishops were meeting, and carried away computers and hundreds of files. They drilled into the tombs of prelates Leo Jozef Suenens and Jozef-Ernest van Roey - who headed the Belgian Catholic Church between 1926 and 1979 - and poked a camera inside to look for hidden documents. At the same time, they raided the home and seized the laptop of Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who was the head of the Belgian Catholic Church for three decades until Léonard succeeded him in January. The police also went to nearby Leuven to search the premises of the independent Church body that is investigating hundreds of cases of clerical abuse."
In this particular case, I say, "drill baby, drill." This is the way to run a proper investigation. Law enforcement across the globe must stop coddling alleged criminals and enabling a Vatican cover-up. The Pope's kangaroo investigative committees ought to be dismantled immediately and the police should handle the possible crimes.
If the Pope and his cohorts are truly men of God, wouldn't they welcome much-needed assistance for their obviously overburdened and beleaguered ten investigators?
Belgium Authorities Ignore the Pope (30/06/2010) http://www.wikipeers.com/news/4085-Belgium-Authorities-Ignore-the-Pope.html
The Vatican has been under enormous pressure as of late. Sexual abuse allegations coming this time out of Belgium, continue to haunt the Vatican and the Catholic church. The Vatican has called recent raids by Belgian police "an outrage," as they rifled through private headquarters and even the crypts of leading church officials. -- This past April, the bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned his post after confessing that he indeed was responsible during the 1980s for the repeated sexual molestation of a boy. His admission was the first from a bishop of the European church. After the admission, an onslaught of similar grievances was brought forward from men who were boys at the time alleging that they too suffered under the hands of Belgian priests.Since the allegations, Belgium police authorities have been going back and forth with the Vatican over who has more authority to investigate and bring to justice those who are guilty. Belgium declared its supremacy on the grounds that as a law enforcement entity they have the power to prosecute if necessary. Their decision is in part due to the way the Vatican has approached these matters in the past. The Vatican, although concerned about the debacle the sex scandals have created, still does not do enough to bring the guilty party to justice, preferring to play down the allegations. Thus the Belgian authorities have taken the matter into their own hands. (...) Despite cries of injustice ringing over Belgium from the Vatican, Belgium's government is ignoring the papal protestations and is continuing to go forth with their investigations. The Vatican is nonetheless livid calling the raids "an unprecedented intrusion into church affairs."The Belgium judiciary police, although respecting the efforts by the church sanctioned commission to investigate sexual abuse allegations, remain adamant that only a justice system can put the wheels of prosecution into motion, not the clergy.
US denies Vatican sex abuse immunity (June 30, 2010) http://www.smh.com.au/world/us-denies-vatican-sex-abuse-immunity-20100629-zjdr.html
WASHINGTON: The US Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal by the Vatican for immunity in a high-profile paedophilia case, dealing a setback to the Holy See as it tries to protect itself from a litany of sex abuse cases. The court refused without comment to consider whether the Vatican had legal immunity over the sexual abuse of minors by priests in the United States, allowing a lower court suit filed in 2002 to proceed. The plaintiff in the case, identified only as John V. Doe, was abused numerous times in 1965 when he was a teenager, by an alleged paedophile priest, Father Andrew Ronan, in Portland, Oregon. Before being accused of the offences in Oregon, Father Ronan, who died in 1992, allegedly sexually molested seminarians in Ireland and children in Chicago. The Vatican wanted US courts to throw out a lawsuit that sought to hold the church responsible for moving Father Ronan from Ireland to Chicago and then to Portland despite the sex abuse accusations that followed him from parish to parish. But the nine US judges refused to consider the church's claim that it enjoys ''sovereign immunity'' and therefore is safe from prosecution. Meanwhile, the Vatican issued a communique chastising a cardinal who had criticised another cardinal - proof of a battle inside the Vatican walls that mirrors the anger over sex abuse raging outside them. Cell Phone Radiation Series - Part 2: 8 Ways to Reduce Your Exposure
OCTOBER 21, 2009
Research has not yet established whether cell phone radiation is harmful. But. Some studies are troubling enough that we recommend reducing your exposure by buying a low-radiation phone or making some simple changes in the way you use your phone.
No need to panic and ditch your phone (we at EWG certainly aren't giving up ours). Here's how to protect your health and stay in touch.
USE A HEADSET OR SPEAKER
Headsets emit much less radiation than phones. Experts are split on whether wired or wireless headsets are safer. (Check out the EWG website for a guide to headsets). Some wireless headsets emit continuous low-level radiation, so take yours off when you're not on a call. Using your phone in speaker mode also reduces radiation to the head. (More info HERE)
Your phone emits the most radiation when you talk or text but much less when you're receiving messages. Listening more and talking less reduces your exposures.
Phones use less power (which means less radiation) to send text instead of voice. Also, texting keeps the phone -- the radiation source -- away from your head.
PHONE AT ARM'S LENGTH
Hold the phone away from your torso when you're talking with headset or speaker, not against your ear, in a pocket, or on your belt, where soft body tissues absorb radiation.
BUY A LOW-RADIATION PHONE
Not all phones are created equal: Look up your phone on EWG's buyer's guide. (Your phone's model number may be printed under your battery.) If you're in the market for a new phone, find one that emits the lowest radiation possible and still meets your needs.
WEAK SIGNAL? STAY OFF THE PHONE
Fewer signal bars mean the phone has to step up its emissions to contact the tower. Call when your phone has a strong signal.
SKIP "RADIATION SHIELDS"
Radiation shields such as antenna caps or keypad covers reduce the connection quality and force the phone to transmit at a higher power with higher radiation.
LIMIT CHILDREN'S PHONE USE
Young children's brains absorb twice as much cell phone radiation as those of adults. EWG joins health agencies in at least 6 countries in recommending limiting children's phone use, such as for emergencies only.

2012: Dr. Martin Luther King relative, contactee, brings UFO/ET message of dimensional shift in 2012
By Alfred Lambremont Webre - June 3, 2010
Anthony Kane, a black American relative of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (former recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize) and reported continuing contactee of representatives of an apparent extraterrestrial, hyperdimensional governance authority known as the Council of Twelve, has delivered a number of specific datelines and predicted developments concerning a dimensional shift which Earth and human consciousness is now undergoing in relation to the year 2012, according to information Mr. Kane received from the Council of Twelve.
Mr. Kane describes the Council of Twelve as stating that during the nine days from December 12, 2012 (12/12/12) to December 21, 2012, the planet Earth will split dimensionally into two separate Earths, each of which has different dimensional frequencies. Mr. Kane describes this as a process analogous to the way that a single cell can split into two cells.
According to the Council of Twelve, humans with a consciousness anchored in fear will remain in the third dimensional Earth. Individuals who are experiencing a conscious awakening and putting an effort into being conscious of the shift will migrate into the new dimension of the fifth dimensional Earth.
Mr. Kane made these declarations in an in-depth 60-minute ExopoliticsRadio.org interview with reporter Alfred Lambremont Webre, which is available to Examiner.com listeners in the article below.
As Examiner.com has reported in "Exopolitics researcher develops evidence-based typology of extraterrestrial civilizations", "Recent whistleblower, direct witness and documentary evidence have led to the development of new typology of extraterrestrial civilizations" which includes "(C) Extraterrestrial governance authorities: Legally constituted extraterrestrial governance authorities with jurisdiction over a defined territory, such as the Milky Way Galactic Federation, which has been empirically located in replicable research."
In a previous ExopoliticsRadio.org interview, Mr. Kane reported his original contact in 2002 in Seattle, WA with the Council of Twelve and on the training his multi-dimensional hosts have been giving him for a dimensional shift that planet Earth and all living creatures are now undergoing. Mr. Kane reported being dimensionally transported to many different worlds, and to meeting with an interdimensional society and guide. Mr. Kane also reported his initial contacts by the Council of Twelve were monitored by U.S. military intelligence (who track the Council of Twelves incursions into Earths dimension). Mr. Kane recounts how U.S. military intelligence networks then targeted him and ultimately unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate him. Mr. Kane now lives in another country.
The content of Mr. Kanes messages from the Council of Twelve is congruent with the content of the findings of scientists such as Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, who is studying a shift of human consciousness as it occurs during this similar 2012-related time period.
Examiner.com has reported in "Expert predicts end to hierarchies and value of money, more ET/UFO disclosure starting July-Nov 2010" how The period Nov. 7, 2009 to Nov. 2, 2010 will be characterized by the collapse of the U.K.-U.S. axis of western domination, the dissolution of hierarchies, and an end to the perceived value of money in its paper and electronic digital formats, predicts Mayan calendar expert Dr. Carl Johan Calleman. These social breakdowns are part of a period of transformation to a new era, characterized by sharing rather than individual ownership, and by higher human universal consciousness. The pace of extraterrestrial disclosure is expected to accelerate after Nov. 2, 2010. Using the time acceleration matrices of the Mayan calendar, Dr. Calleman correctly predicted the first phase of the global financial collapse for the period Nov. 19, 2007 Nov. 8, 2008."
Examiner.com readers can listen to the ExopoliticsRadio.org interview with ET/UFO contactee Anthony Kane by clicking here.
Long-time ERN subscriber Alfred Webre also just (June 30) published... Web Bot: 1.2 billion dead in BP oil spill, Nov. 2010 nuclear war. Accurate? Will ETs intervene?
(...) This Examiner.com article explores the evidence that, despite the Web Bot and ALTA reports predictions of mega death from the BP oil disaster and possible 2010 (and beyond) nuclear war, the objective reality is that (1) mega death will probably not occur; (2) global nuclear war will not occur; and (3) Extraterrestrial civilizations may intervene to prevent a global nuclear holocaust destroying the ecology of Earth and humankind, or as a false flag ET operation to impose a global oppressive dictatorship on humanity.
There are two major ways of looking at 2012. The first is that it marks the apocalyptic end of the human species, the second that it signals a miraculous new beginning and an influx of divine grace that will elevate all of us to another evolutionary level.
My understanding of prophecy is that it is not authoritarian or fatalistic but makes clear the possibilities inherent in the ways in which we are acting. So to me, neither the death or the birth are inevitable, both are possible and both depend on how we react and act now. If we continue on our current suicidal course, there is a definite possibility the world can end in a blaze of environmental disaster, fascist madness and nuclear war. If we are brave enough to face our psychosis and plunge into the massive ordeal of an authentic mystical transformation and put its wisdom and compassion into radical action there is also distinct possibility for an evolutionary leap in the species.
All we can say at this moment is that none of us know what the human race is going to choose. The situation is extremely volatile and unpredictable; the forces ranged against the birth are enormous in their power; at present neither the governments or a ruined capitalism can be trusted.
While I cannot know what the human race will choose in our situation, I know what I have chosen. I choose to devote myself to being a midwife of the potential birth by trying to embody, evolve and share a vision and practice of Sacred Activism. I know there is only one way out of our horror that of a global revolution in consciousness that expresses itself urgently in radical wise action. And I know too, that if enough human beings became revolutionaries of sacred love the species could be transformed and co create with the divine a new way of being and doing everything. I know also that my responsibility in knowing these truths is to embody them as completely and humbly as I can and continue to do so through disaster, despair, defeat and paralysis.
So the choice of whether 2012 will be a death or a birth is yours and mine. Day by day, breath by breath. There is no time left to waste in either the dark luxury of despair or the delusion of a passivity that believes that miracles we havent sweated for will be just done for us by divine love. In other words, we are all being challenged by 2012 to gamble our lives away for divine truth and to risk everything to put it into loving, radical action without any guarantees of success, and so finally become mature, brave, and humble divine human beings, what ever happens.
Once you get your teeth into something there is no letting go, and it cheers us immensely to see your determination to lift your levels of consciousness. They are progressing in leaps and bounds, and as they do so they are bringing other dear souls out of their old dream world, into the reality of who they really are. People all over the world are responding to the higher energies flowing into the Earthís grid. Suddenly what you need to do to put your evolution onto a different path is becoming clear. Most importantly you realize that you have the power to change the direction that Humanity was heading into, and put it on course for Ascension. The old World Order no longer has the control over you that has led you blindly into their clutches. Their domination of you has been severely weakened by your awakening, and your desire to create a new reality that brings peace to the world.
What is also clear is that you are able to hold your focus on the wonderful future you visualize, and are no longer fooled by the tactics to distract you from it. It is your belief in the future that is giving you the strength to rise up against those who would put obstacles in your way. As you now know, everything is possible when you set your minds firmly on what you want for the good of all. It was always seen that you would eventually have sufficient understanding of what was required of you, to succeed in creating the peaceful existence denied you previously. Duality has shown you what happens when the Light has been suppressed, and how it deadens your senses to your ability to rise above any difficulties. It is now the time for you to claim your sovereignty, and collectively demand that your rights are honored.
Meantime the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is attracting worldwide attention, and even those countries that are not immediately affected are extremely concerned at its threat to the ecology. It has highlighted the dangers of continuing with your dependence on fossil fuels. A serious look at alternative sources of energy is needed, and as you know by now they already exist and are pollution free, but have been suppressed and ignored by Governments who are beholden to the big oil and energy corporations. The changes will be enforced and the multinationals will be re-structured, so that they no longer have such influence and power. Freedom of the people will be the object of First Contact, and the establishment of a system where the wealth of the world can be fairly distributed. The next step will be to banish poverty and we are well prepared to ensure it is quickly carried out.
We have often intimated that times would get worse before there were changes for the better. You are entering such a period, but you are more prepared to see it out now because of your understanding of the issues involved. More to the point, you know that at the same time our allies and we are on the verge of achieving our aims to put our plan into operation. It is still the timing that is of importance, and we are helping create the ideal conditions to enable the go ahead. We are not idle while we wait for the order to do so and still closely monitor all activities on Earth. They are under our control so that we can exercise limitation where massive damage is likely. We have been doing it for a long time, so as to ensure you safely reach the end time.
Now is the time when great decisions are being made, and that applies equally to individuals as well as groups, who can decide your future. The calls for changes reach the ears of those in power, and they dare not ignore you for too long. Those who are well known in their own right also help your cause, and we applaud them for seeing the people of the world as One. The feeling of being your Brothers keeper, comes with having compassion and love for all life. That is what has been lacking for a long time, but with the increasing levels of consciousness more of you are opening up your hearts in this way.
Whatever type of lives you have had, each one of them has been planned to further your evolution. Lessons to be learnt are measured to suit your ability to benefit from them, and no one is given challenges unless it is known that they can cope with them. Naturally in the run in to Ascension, you have tended to pack your lives with as many opportunities as possible. That is why some of you have had such action filled lives, and they often involve relationships with souls that have been a part of your previous lives. These can often lead to disappointments, as you are not given to know that all outcomes are pre-arranged. It is in adversity and even pain that the greatest lessons are learnt. You seek happiness on Earth, but not many can claim to have achieved it for any length of time. Happiness like beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
However, once you have passed beyond duality and take your place in the higher dimensions, you will find all of the peace, joy and happiness you can wish for. Balance and harmony is everywhere around you, and life will be one continuous experience of fulfillment. It is where you should naturally reside and have journeyed through before. Duality is simply the testing ground for souls that want to advance their evolution quickly. Not only that, by passing through it you are helping all other souls that may follow after you. Service to others becomes quite natural when you have restored your levels of Christ Consciousness. Seek to elevate yourselves into a position where you can be the personification of Unconditional Love.
I am SaLuSa from Sirius, and tell you that we of the Galactic Federation are not religious in anyway as you understand the meaning. We find all knowledge within, and have manifested our god selves having become unified with God. You too are heading this way, and we know that already some of you have achieved great progress in this respect. Now you will understand why you cannot enter the higher dimensions, unless you have already lifted your vibrations to that level.
Prejudice is prevalent on Earth, but once you can accept that you are all One it begins to fall away. Look at people and see their soul before you, seeking, as you are the path to freedom and happiness. Let your Love and Light be your guide, and it will lead you to the heavenly peace you seek. Know also that our love accompanies you, and you can turn to us for help.
Thank you SaLuSa.
